NOPE.............you are not alone.....I was in my mid teens, when I first heard this......I'm now 70 and this is still in my head and one of my favs ! LOL..:)
LOVE to sing this song... So cool and smooth. It was so popular on the radio in the 70's as I was growing up. I had no idea what the song was about then. I just sang the heck out of it.
One of my favourite songs of the 70's. Smooth, sensual..a "puts you in the mood" song 😁 Not helpful when I'm getting ready for work 🤣 R&B/Soul is a favourite of mine as well. So many great artists and songs from that genre.
Niiice! This track will be one of your favourite things if you give it a few more listens, sooo good it's ridiculous, the man is one of the most criminally underrated artists of all time. Just after this, he released the album 'War Of The Gods' which I listen to often, some of the best funkadelic groove you can put in your earholes. ✌❤
I've been singing Karaoke for over 30 years now and most people say they thought the jukebox was playing when they hear me. Me and Mrs. Jones is Go To for me as it was the first time I ever had a standing ovation. I was about 8 or 9 when this came out and has always been a favorite.
There is another great version of this song by The Dramatics - worth a listen. Al Green is one of the greats of soul music and if you want a more chilled soulful sound try…. I’m Still in Love With You Judy Have You Been Making Out OK All by Al Green
This is one of those songs that somehow stick with you for ages, even though (in modern parlance) you wouldn't necessarily put it on your playlist. It came out in 1972, when I was sixteen; I heard the song on the radio, and liked the old style, jazzy vibe of it, but I don't remember if I ever taped it. The song certainly wasn't one you necessarily heard multiple times each day, and yet, even over 50 years later, I could still hum the chorus immediately after reading your headline. Guess that's what happens with great music. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
I went to go see him on this tour when I was 12 years old with my older brother in the Omni here in Atlanta, Georgia 1977 and I believe it was on July 4 because the fireworks going on inside there were crazy. I remember the two opening bands was Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush and foreigner and they were a new band at that time foreigner was.
Billy Paul was one of many great acts who recorded for Philadelphia International Records, one of the best R&B labels of the 70s. This song hit #1 on both the pop and R&B charts in 1972.
This is obviously the best version and is the gold standard to judge others by, but I actually like The Dramatics version almost as much, as it is different enough to be worth listening to - the Soul Train version has a short interview at the start as well.
This song is a prime example of the R&B sub-genre known as 'Philly Soul' . Recorded on the Philadelphia International Records label in the early 70s... 😇
Great, great pick man. My wife and I danced to this at our wedding. 12 years ago, and still dance to it when we hear it. Thanks for doing this one. Set the mood for a "great night". Lol. 😎
All right my brother Stephen.... I started preparing a steak for dinner around 5:00 when I turned into your channel. I always like to light candles when I'm preparing dinner. And then when you said "somebody light a candle"🕯️, I darn near lost my mind as I had just lit up four of them literally moments ago before you said that ‼️😂 Great song and another great reaction ‼️💯🔥🎤😁👍🏼
Hey Steven 🙋♂... Yeah, one of my all-time favorites. The strange thing is, and you have to take it into account, 1) we don't know what their lives are like (getting divorced, caught in a bad situation and can't get out, were they in a past relationship but still have feelings) 2) we don't know if they ever DO anything about it, 3) they meet in a cafe, every day, same place, same time and all they do is talk, 4) they apparently NEVER go to a hotel or anything, so though it COULD still be considered cheating, I think they are showing a lot of restraint. I've known people like this, who are stuck in a bad relationship but meet someone who cares and takes time to give emotional support. I think it must be very therapeutic and may actually save someone from doing something rash/horrible. So, for me, it's a grey area, and I can definitely see the beauty they do. I will admit though, I'm a sucker for a woman in distress so, Mr. Paul seems like my type of man ... sensitive and caring and yes, can get in deep water without trying. So glad you got to hear this one ... the music is incredible and the singing ... well, you understand 😊👍. Great reaction, man.
Great song. For some adults, it was like a finger pointing directly at them. When I was a kid, it was banned by many mainstream radio stations because of the immorality of the content. Today's music would have exploded their brains.
I am so glad you enjoyed this song. I still have my mom's 45. She used to play it all the time, (like obsessively), 😄!! I've always loved this song, it sends you right into the story. Love that!! ❤❤Adding: It came out in 1972.
Let's Gooo! Is there a Mr Jones wondering where his wife is 😅 Let's Get it on from Marvin Gaye is great too. This was fun. Great reaction and Peace out Steven 🙏 ☮️ ✌️
There is another song from this album. "War of The Gods" It's very different, one of those type of song's that makes you think about the topic. It's actually my favorite from this album. Another great artist is Al Green ( "Lets stay together" ) a banger!
This is the perfect dancing slow and close song, and everything that happens after. I have come to the conclusion that you are from Mars. You cannot have been from this planet and not heard some of the songs that I earnestly hear you say you have never heard of or artists that are printed on Walmart t-shirts. And with anybody else I would say you've got to be lying, but you honestly do not know these songs and artists and it just amazes me that someone could have grown up in that impermeable of a bubble. 🤯 And then I think how sad it is that you missed out on all of this for so long. I don't remember a single song that you reacted to since I've been watching you that I'm not already familiar with, including a lot of songs like country for instance that I don't even like. And I'm glad, thanks to this platform, you're able to remedy that situation and we're all able to watch it happen.
I suggested this one to you just yesterday - it is possible that's why you checked it out? 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed it! Now you can compare this original version, with the cover by Daryl Hall and John Oats. Now you're getting a glimpse of some of Daryl's musical influences. (Apparently, Daryl's first voice lesson was at age 3 or 4, by his mother.)
This song is one of the several controversial songs from the era. Believe it or not, clean Paul Anka sang a song about She's Having My Baby, where doesn't explain who she is.
On a different note another song that will touch you is Extreme’s song MORE THAN WORDS from the Pornograffitti album. Just the two brothers and a guitar taking you to another level!!!
I’ve already covered it here on the channel! So beautiful!! It may be a “Members Only” video though, not sure! You can go to our homepage and click on the playlist “Members Only” videos to see what’s available! Have a great day and thanks for hanging out! 😁
Yes please, Bernadette reminds me of a Bank Holiday in Bournemouth in 1980's, big group of us came out of a pub near the beach (forget the name) around 2pm, ghetto blaster at full volume with Bernadette getting several plays, walking down to the sand - unlike nearby Weymouth, the Bournemouth crowd was mostly into music, fashion, and having a good time, no violence that I saw. Regular meeting place for the all-nighter folks as well, from Swindon, Birmingham, even some London area came down, happy times.
🌸 the instrumentation and his voice are very beautiful but the point of the song makes me feel very frustrated and angry.... it makes me upset that we romanticize adultery and I'm not a prude in any sort of the sense but come on

LOVE to sing this song... So cool and smooth. It was so popular on the radio in the 70's as I was growing up. I had no idea what the song was about then. I just sang the heck out of it.

It's simply doesn't get any better than this
As I heard this song in '72 with my "MrsJones" I was inspired. Happy to report she has been "MyMrs" for the past 51+ years!
Something you may like.....a duo, twin brothers, called RyanDan, amazing harmonies, beautiful singing....try Like the Sun....I think you'll like it

Hi Steve! Just love this song from Billy Paul, such a brilliant singer!!
Oh the groove of a slow Motown Era song.
This is one of those songs that somehow stick with you for ages, even though (in modern parlance) you wouldn't necessarily put it on your playlist. The very definition of "Soul" this one.
Absolutely! 💯
This is going to be one of the greatest reactions you will ever do!!! Billy Paul is the soul singer with so much emotion!!!
Billy Paul was one of many great acts who recorded for Philadelphia International Records, one of the best R&B labels of the 70s. This song hit #1 on both the pop and R&B charts in 1972.
RIIIIIIIIIIGHT OOOOOOOOONN
This wonderful music was a part of what was known as "Philly Soul".
LOVE THIS SONG - SO, SO SMOOOOOOTH!!! WHAT a GREAT SLOW JAM!! SO SEXY!! HUGS from TEXAS!!
This is obviously the best version and is the gold standard to judge others by, but I actually like The Dramatics version almost as much, as it is different enough to be worth listening to - the Soul Train version has a short interview at the start as well.

When they reach the next level, he'll learn her first name!

Great, great pick man. My wife and I danced to this at our wedding. 12 years ago, and still dance to it when we hear it. Thanks for doing this one. Set the mood for a "great night". Lol. 😎
1972. A one-hit-wonder and yet, 360 Degrees is a worthy album.
What a great old song! Not heard in ages. 🎶
I grew up in the 70s and this is definitely 70's smooth.
SMOOOOOTHER THAN 70s BUTTER
Never heard this man before. Great artist as now I hear him❤❤

panty dropper right there!
