The Bus was a halfback who was built like a fullback, and the Steelers also had a quarterback who was built like linebacker. The Steelers were a weird team back then
@@clowkey1747 The Steelers have always been a weird team. Up to the 1960s, they were the "lovable losers" of the NFL. Then Chuck Noll drafted about a dozen future Hall of Famers in half a decade to build a team that would win 4 Super Bowls in 6 years. It's not really surprising that the team doesn't really follow a rational pattern. (Apart from a very common tradition of blowing a game if they're ahead at halftime. ;-) )

Something about the inclusion of Catbus and the way Todd talks about Priscilla, Queen of the Desert warmed my heart. This immediately became one of my fav videos from this channel and I echo a lot of people's sentiments for Todd to occasionally have videos like this for fun. It's definitely a great way to decompress and just get creative
This video got me _unreasonably_ hyped, by the time number one was revealed I was screaming "LET'S GOOOOO" in my car. I must've looked like an insane woman, bahahaha!! Thank you, Todd!
There was this one episode of "The Magic School Bus" in which they go through the digestive tract. Towards the end they had to turn around once they reached the colon. I laughed endlessly about the possibilities if they continued.
A few years ago, I saw Totoro at a Fathom Events screening. As part of the pre-show, they had official trivia, such as the fact that Catbus was originally a Cat-oxcart (Catcart?), but once buses started driving through rural Japan, it turned itself into one because they looked so cool. It was like Mr. Toad seeing a motorcar for the first time, except with far less property damage and no theme park ride.
The little bit of Japanese mythology I've studied, it seems like Shinto mythology tends to be very fluid. Each kami is a reflection and a part of the "real world" in a very mirror like way.
@@mathewfinch Yeah, probably the best example of that is Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (the show that Season 3 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers got footage from), where the monsters of the week are post-modernism yokai, such as a Nurikabe that looks like a brick wall covered in graffiti, or a Gakitsuki that dresses like Terry Bogard. It was weird, and I loved it.
This raises the question, did Catcart drive himself? Or did he have oxen? If the latter, were they just part of him or their own beings? If the latter of THAT, where did they go? Edit: Maybe they became the mouselights!!!
@@GypsyScot1 If the trivia card said it, I don't remember, although I'd assume he drove himself like an Oboroguruma. (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oboroguruma)

...In all seriousness I would actually be so down for this? Like, Todd doing weirdass pop culture esoterica in the most inherently ridiculous fashion would be savage.
im going to start incorporating this into my daily dialogue. Like ‘Everypony’ sometimes you just have through it out there to deal some psychic damage.
I remember winning a free copy of Vigilante 8 from a contest, and it's actually a really fun game. The character with the school bus had a special move where he unleashed toxic exhaust clouds that not only damaged enemies but also stunned them and made them have to restart their engines. I didn't expect it to make the list, but good to see an honorable mention.
I know Todd briefly mentioned it, but I would like to shout out Desert Bus for Hope, the weeklong charity stream where comedy group Loading Ready Run plays it for an entire week. This year's Desert Bus starts tomorrow, everyone should check it out.
Is that still going?? I always wondered if LRR were still together... I have t-shirts for DBFH 2 thru 6 or 7, when I was a teenager I would take the full week off work every year to watch. I fell out of the loop a bit, a combo of kind of losing interest once they stopped doing their short-form sketch comedy videos, and just becoming an adult with bills who couldn't afford to take a week off work to watch 18 hours a day of livestreams. I definitely still have screen shots saved somewhere to my harddrive of the guys dressed as goths/emo kids to go to that year's Twilight movie, which was tradition. The nostalgia you just hit me with is immense.
@@KatLuff LRR never stopped doing their thing! They do streaming, they still do Crapshots, a lot of Magic: the Gathering and TTRPG content, if you're into that. If you miss the sketch comedy, I highly recommend checking out Loading Ready Live, their weekly variety show. Also, definitely give Road Quest a look, too, where six members of the crew take a road trip and document the experience.
I must say, I appreciate the brief clip showing "Crazy Bus" from Arthur. While perhaps not one of the best buses of the 90s, that episode perfectly captures the hell of being subjected to a song that you hate but is played everywhere, which incidentally is what drew me to this channel in the first place those many years ago...
As a 90's kid, a former school bus driver, and current retired school bus owner... I approve of this video. Furthermore, Vigilante 8 was a decent game. I enjoyed it. And yes, I often played the school bus.😛
I watched this on Nebula but i wanted to come and here and add a comment. This was hilarious and I loved it! I am not from the US and have never heard of the NFL player "The Bus" but his inclusion on this list tipped it from amusing to greatness. Thank you for this gift!
As a Pittsburgh resident for the past 15 years (so, after his retirement), you'll still hear about Jerome "The Bus" Bettis even if you aren't a football fan.
Fun fact, that charity stream, Desert Bus for Hope, is still going, and its next run starts on November 12 2022, the day after this video went live. It's been going for 15 years, and they raised $1m last year.

Fun Fact: The bus from Speed also starred in a 90s Will Friedle romcom called Trojan War driven by a crazed Anthony Michael Hall, so even with it's destruction, it was somehow resurrected to speed on some more.
Was not expecting to see Desert Bus on this list. Huge shout out to "Desert Bus for Hope", who's annual fundraising marathon actually begins tomorrow at 2pm PST and will continue however far the fundraising milestones take them (last year lasted just under a full week).
Very timely, Todd! Desert Bus for Hope 2022 starts Nov. 12 at 2:00 PM Pacific. They raise money for Child's Play Charity, which put toys and games in children's hospitals and domestic violence shelters to give kids something to smile about. Even if you can't donate, please tune in, watch the shenanigans, and have fun!
Was gonna comment this: The bus is coming in less than 24 hours. Prepare for an entire week of 24/7 entertainment while some poor sod has to play Desert Bus.
Came here to comment this too. Penn calls in every year to give away tickets and the like. If you want to watch people be nerdy idiots while playing this awful game, tune in tomorrow! Help yourself to help the kids! Zeta Shift is best shift!
I loved the Magic School Bus when I was a kid, I even had a few of the books. I think one of my favorite episodes was the Solar System one, where they brought Arnold's cousin who wanted to collect proof from all the planets they visited, including a sample of gas from Jupiter's great red spot. It came to a head at the end when her proof was too heavy for the bus to fly back with everyone and she didn't want to leave without it, so Arnold took his helmet off on Pluto, causing it to instantly freeze over, to get her to go back. I don't know why they didn't go with a compromise, a piece of Pluto's crust the size of a chunk of driveway gravel would be the most valuable scientific sample in history.
Occasionally Todd blesses us with a quirky, out-of-left field video and I can not put into words how much joy it brings me. This video made me smile so damn hard.

I don't know what I expected when I saw the notification for "Top 10 Buses of the 90s" but the very literal subject matter was a surprise and a delight. I spent the whole video fully ready to protest that the Magic School Bus was objectively the best bus of the 90s but, of course, Todd is the man and came through. What a delightfully nostalgic romp.
This week I had a strong headache and had to lay down in a semi feverous state, and while falling asleep, I kept singin "I missed the bus" to myself, a song I haven't thougth about in years... boy Todd is getting good at telekinesis
Absolutely adored the unbridled joy pouring from every second of this video. The music reviews are cool and all, but I would not mind in the slightest if this channel became dedicated to rankings of niche 90s pop culture iconography. Great work!
Okay, that's it. We officially need more series where Todd just makes random lists of pop culture references like this for every decade. And not just music. And it would be so simple to name. Todd in the 90's Todd in the 80's Todd in the 70's And so forth.
Songs have bridges, and I can't think of any better vehicle to cross them. We have yacht rock and we have minivan rock. When are we getting a list of the definitive bus rock songs?
Well, this is surprisingly a thing and I'm ok with that. Todd left out the part in "Spiceworld" where the two producers talked about how expensive special effects are, then the famous Tower Bridge Leap happens and one of them is like: "Not necessarily!" That and "Call Gary Barlow" are just masterpieces of 90s British humour.
@@arubinojr5670 It's a genuine "so ridiculous it's actually kinda awesome" pleasure for me. I would never call it "good" exactly, on... well... pretty much any objective scale it's not, but it also succeeds at being exactly what it wants to be.

I will miss Todd on that sad day he posts his last video and I am forced to learn about music from some other fellow whose face i might actually see, but I just want him to know that of all the creators on UA-cam he has by far aged the best and given the most. If anyone had any standards, he would have a million subscribers by now.
todd is truly a magical creator. i got the slight leftovers of the nineties pop culture as i was raised in the early 2000's but still so much nostalgia and pure joy was communicated and felt through this video. as he was doing his spiel leading in to the number one i was literally chanting magic school bus and screamed the "with the frizz?? no way!!" this is a beautiful and extremely fun video, it was goofy in concept and in execuetion but i just am so happy after watching it thank u. still though spicebus should've been higher.
I should not have been as invested in this dumb, stupid, nonsensical list as I was. And I should not have been as elated and relieved as I was when the magic school bus was listed as number 1. And yet here I am. This is why I'm still watching Todd going on more than a decade now.

And the machine demands from you more videos about rome and femboys
You managed to make an interesting and engaging 20 minute list video about literally just buses, this may be your greatest achievement.
This is the essence of creative freedom embodied in 20 minutes of pure public transit glory. Sometimes the internet is worth it.
I feel like Todd is one of the only people alive who can make me legitimately overcome with joy to hear the opening notes to Vengabus
@@n48_art i am also overcome with joy when i hear the intro to vengabus
I saw them live a couple of years ago. They brought a man from the audience up on stage and made him sit on a chair and danced all over him while singing. Amazing
I had been in the pits of despair earlier this evening and when that point of the video arrived I collapsed into giggles
Vengabus appreciation club
Him, and the Oxventure folks.
The whiplash of going from Priscilla to a quarterback was magnificent 😂 10/10
Especially since he was a running back
I was howling laughing at this so much my dad bust into the room to make sure I was alright 😅
(Apart from a very common tradition of blowing a game if they're ahead at halftime. ;-) )
@@edwardphilibin3151 Ah, a tradition I'm VERY familiar with. (Cowboys fan, not a fun week for us)
the absolute CACKLE I let out when Todd said "doesn't anybody like to party??" and I realized what he was doing about half a second before the Vengabus horn dropped
I have to imagine someone coming across this as their first Todd video, looking at his catalogue for more, and being completely confused with all the music themed videos.
Yet another masterpiece from the auteur that brought us Top Ten Groin Shots in Movies all the way back in 2012.
Wonder what the masterpiece of 2032 will be...
I shed a tear when we got to the Magic School Bus.
I ❤ bus.
This video got me _unreasonably_ hyped, by the time number one was revealed I was screaming "LET'S GOOOOO" in my car. I must've looked like an insane woman, bahahaha!! Thank you, Todd!
The Magic School Bus was awesome. I'm so happy I was born in 1989 to appreciate it in the 90s.
There was this one episode of "The Magic School Bus" in which they go through the digestive tract. Towards the end they had to turn around once they reached the colon. I laughed endlessly about the possibilities if they continued.
We have all born witness to a UA-camr making something only for himself. A video with no sense of obligation whatsoever. Bless you Todd.

@@otaking3582 Okay yeah that does make the most sense, if there's precedent (thank you, weird-ass youkai legends--Japan never disappoints). Aesthetically I still like the idea of it being the giant mice that would later turn into the bus's lights, though, so that's my headcanon.
I hope Todd does the Top Ten 90s Jungles next. 97 was a strong year for jungles in specific.
Todd: “I will be shocked, SHOCKED, if any other bus has a better jump scene than the Spice Bus”
Speed: “hold my steering wheel”
todd is no longer just a music reviewer, he's a pop culture historian.
Todd Always has been a pop culture historian. Can't separate music from it's cultural environment.
...In all seriousness I would actually be so down for this? Like, Todd doing weirdass pop culture esoterica in the most inherently ridiculous fashion would be savage.
@@kevinomalley1090 For real, I could listen to Todd describe anything
I mean, if Linkara is a Lamp reviewer, Todd can be a Bus reviewer
He remembers it so we don't have to
that 'allyship is actually an allybus' is the most demented thing you've ever scripted, Todd. Good work.
One video after "LET. SAM. SMITH. FUCK." no less.
This whole video is insane and I kinda love it
im going to start incorporating this into my daily dialogue. Like ‘Everypony’ sometimes you just have through it out there to deal some psychic damage.
that line let me know Todd for real understands allyship.. i mean allybus
This is, without a doubt, one of the top ten bus related videos of the 2020s. Thank you, Todd.
"Earth-QUAAAAAKE"
...if I remember correctly.
Also, we played Vigilante 8 because it was on N64, while Twisted Metal was not.
@@digamejhVery true. A great rental. Fond memories of 4 player mayham
Garbage Truck dude was the GOAT
@@KatLuff They're still going, on UA-cam and on Twitch. They're also been raising more and more money every Desert Bus, in 2020 they broke $1M
@@KatLuff Not only is Desert Bus for Hope and LRR still going, but they've learned to stop at bus stops at night!
@@dreamshade You mean it's not a 24-hour stream anymore?
I must say, I appreciate the brief clip showing "Crazy Bus" from Arthur. While perhaps not one of the best buses of the 90s, that episode perfectly captures the hell of being subjected to a song that you hate but is played everywhere, which incidentally is what drew me to this channel in the first place those many years ago...
An absolutely busalooey choice.
@@carolyns4519 There's no such word as "busalooey"!
I expected a bigger shout out in this video for some reason lol he didn't even say the charity or any names, but I'm glad you did!
@@NerdPlanetThird I honestly doubt that Todd knows much about Desert Bus for Hope, the internet is a big place after all and he probably just found out about it during his research for the video. Still, it was nice they got the callout they did.
@@JWK1101 Not big enough apparently, I found out Todd out this video out because he popped into Desert Bus's chat and Graham mentioned this video.
Todd shows he’s a man of culture, ranking Priscilla above Spice Bus.
Ok, using Chris Isaak for the Desert Bus segment was seriously on point.
(Also, I totally agree. The Totoro catbus is way creepier than it needs to be.)
after years and years of discourse, we finally have the DEFINITIVE 90s bus ranking. thank you todd and god bless
I like how Todd played this like it was a real serious legit idea
Wait, it's not?
I feel like this is like a classic old school Todd in the shadows video when he did list just for the fun of it. Todd you have been doing content creation since the late 00s and now here we are. This is one of the best work of your career. I like that fact that you looking anime, film, cartoon, games, and people into this list. I love the fact that you keep on surprising people about topic and retrospective on things that we never had the time to learn more about. Thank you Todd. You have saved us from all of negative news around the world. Thank you.
I had never heard of Desert Bus before, but it's exactly the kind of A+ trolling I'd expect from Penn & Teller.
I knew that LRR did it around this time of year. Had no idea it was literally tomorrow.
Came here to comment this too. Penn calls in every year to give away tickets and the like. If you want to watch people be nerdy idiots while playing this awful game, tune in tomorrow! Help yourself to help the kids!
Zeta Shift is best shift!
Zeta 4 Lyfe!
I love when Todd completely burns out and makes something like this. Anyone else remember the top 10 nut shots in movies?
Agreed was gonna say basically same thing but you already on it loved this silly video
I’ve seen better videos on buses
-Please be a normal top 10 list🙏
-with Todd in the Shadows? NO WAY!
This was absolutely delightful. Thank you for validating my belief that the Spiceworld movie is fantastic. I always felt critics trashed it simply because it was the Spice Girls. Your top ranking is completely correct. Most importantly, you sounded like you were having so much fun. I felt as if I were being included in a chat with a good friend. Thank you for another great video!
I watched that movie so many times as a kid and even as an adult still love it.
I was going to comment on the Crazy Bus snub, but then I thought "wait, there's a chance it's an 80s bus" so I Googled the release date for the first time in my life and my entire concept of time and cultural has been utterly shattered by the knowledge that the greatest Genisis game of all time launched in the middle of the Bush years.
The universe is truly full of Magic
The sequence of Catbus, Priscilla and Bettis are my entire personality in the span of three buses. One of your best videos
Same here
Yo, you seem like fun
As soon as this video started I thought "If Priscilla isn't on this list I'm going to be FURIOUS."
Todd dodged that Ghibli copyright Strike like a champ to deliver us one of the best Top 10's ever created!
The fact I'm a bus driver, been a fan of yours since you were on Thatguywithglasses, youre one of my favorite content creators, and it's the day before my birthday I really feel like this is a personal gift for me so thank you
it was _so_ refreshing to hear Todd gush about how much he loved making this list.
I would watch Todd do a top ten of literally anything. I’m from the UK and most of these references I’d never heard of but it was still utterly enthralling
Yeah, it's weird how the Spice Girls never really became a thing over there.
Todd in the 90's
Todd in the 80's
Todd in the 70's
And so forth.
At first I was like "Why did Todd making a video about buses?" But now I want to binge every bus video I can find.
Mr. In The Shadows, I'm not sure what kind of reaction you were expecting to this video, but I have to say: It's an absolute gem.
Finally, a video covering only the most important musical genre: the bus.
In terms of A Hard Day's Night ripoffs, if only every cinematic attempt to prop up a waning pop act had so many high points.
@@arubinojr5670 It's a genuine "so ridiculous it's actually kinda awesome" pleasure for me. I would never call it "good" exactly, on... well... pretty much any objective scale it's not, but it also succeeds at being exactly what it wants to be.
Imagine if they pulled the same stunt with the Speed jump, just cutting to a toy version of the bus instead of movie magic.
I’m so glad I knew what #1 was. I picked up on all the context clues (being that it was never mentioned or showed in a clip)
I know this was a 90s list, but I loved the Gus Bus from the Benchwarmers. God tier design.
As someone who watched Speed literally dozens of times as a teenager (and never since) that salute to bus 2525 really made me feel something.

Todd just wanted to have an excuse to talk about sports ball. Ya know what I love of about Todd is he survived mid late 2000s better then most on youtube.
I looked at the channel name multiple times before clicking, then still had to watch it to believe it and then stuck around til the end because this is legitimately one of the funniest videos you have ever made.
Unironically one of Todd's best videos EVER. I can tell he had a lot of fun making this and I in turn had a lot of fun watching it. It was even educational a lot of the time.
No matter what highs and lows life has thrown at me, Todd and his content has been a reliable source of entertainment for a full and entire decade with a setup he nailed right out of the park. And on this day he released the most unexpected video of his career about NOTHING even remotely related to his area of expertise and it was still fucking great. I will miss Todd on that sad day he posts his last video and I am forced to learn about music from some other fellow whose face i might actually see, but I just want him to know that of all the creators on UA-cam he has by far aged the best and given the most. If anyone had any standards, he would have a million subscribers by now.
Well, he's almost at half a million, that's not bad!

Anytime Todd wants to make a completely unrelated top 10 list in the future I will be ready and waiting, this video has me ON THE FLOOR
todd is truly a magical creator. i got the slight leftovers of the nineties pop culture as i was raised in the early 2000's but still so much nostalgia and pure joy was communicated and felt through this video. as he was doing his spiel leading in to the number one i was literally chanting magic school bus and screamed the "with the frizz?? no way!!" this is a beautiful and extremely fun video, it was goofy in concept and in execuetion but i just am so happy after watching it thank u. still though spicebus should've been higher.
I love when creators make videos about random things that they're interested in. It makes for the best videos
I love this. I'm a Gen Z bus nerd and there are so many beautiful buses I missed 😍
I should not have been as invested in this dumb, stupid, nonsensical list as I was.
And I should not have been as elated and relieved as I was when the magic school bus was listed as number 1.
And yet here I am.
This is why I'm still watching Todd going on more than a decade now.
Todd ,you live in LA right? Here's a mind-blowing fact in my life:The Guy who was the Dancing old Swifty Lazar looking guy in the Six Flags Commercial was actually a Latino Dancer Actor (Stage?) So Todd resented those Top 13 Worst lists so much that he decided to troll us with a list about 90's buses. This is the best video I've ever seen XD
Todd has officially lost his mind and I'm here for it
That spice bus was literally a character. I did this media class in high school and we decided to do a parody of the spice world movie. We made this giant cardboard cut out double decker bus and made this hilarious sketch with it.
This list was amazing. Never be afraid to do goof off lists like this. You make them entertaining all the same.
God, I got so hyped for #1, cause it HAD to be what #1 was. AND IT WAS!
I was about to get VERY upset at the lack of Almost Famous Hold Me Closer Tiny Dancer Bus, then I saw that movie came out in... 2000. That is a VERY late 90s feeling movie. Anyway, great video!

the bus industrial complex
Sadly, Big Bus was an 80s movie, so it wouldn't be eligible for this list. It might have made it tho! Rocket powered bus!
big bus-iness, if you will.
Todd may need to do a part two. Because The Lex Express deserves recognition. And I know Todd knows old wrestling!
Came here to say the same thing!
i love when you can tell a video sprang from a weird conversation between friends like. "hey. why did everything in the 90s come with its own bus?"
