Look at the package, and sound, and then look at the price… It is unbelievable! FiiO is literally “taking great music to the masses”. Thanks for the excellent review.
Excellent review, comprehensive and informative. I've gone back to using my koss porta pro with yaxi pads and new cable (added mmcx adapters). Amazing for the price!
All those koss serie headphones sound muffled because of the foam between te driver and your ear. I like the tonal balance but its just a bad idea to put foam in front of the driver and then tune it. Because now if you remove the foam its clear sounding but way to treble heavy and if you dont its muffled and no micro details. Overrated headphones
There is a good alternative: Krammer mod. Just make holes in plastic grill, it will add more mids/treble But IMO Porta PRo are perfect the way they are :)
Dt770 is my entry into the audio hobby and i put it on my head, played 1 song and wanted to throw it straight into the trashbin! How the hell can you have that much bloated bass and still make it sound like the coldest, most metallic thing in the world?! Beyerdynamic was like okay you have the anolgue warm sound and the clinical cold sound. Lets take the worst of both and put it into 1 headphone😂
@@PortaFi but i have heard other vintage headphones that were way more natural. maybe i have got a bad unit or something from beyer.. Its the same for me with those koss porta pro etc series. Terrible sound, so muffled with that foam/earpad infront of the driver I would rather listen to budget chi fi iems with the thin harsh harman target.. at least they sound like music
most likely you just have too high expectations for a vintage models :) lot of them aren't about modern level technicalities, stage, resolution, but just "fun"
@@PortaFi yeah probably to high expectations, interesting. I really like the blon bl 03 for fun casual natural listening. The vintage stuff sounds just wrong to me
I love bass, but I also like present upper mids. I hated the JT1 sound as the mids sounded very distant, like they were coming from far away down a long narrow hallway, and through a wall. How would you describe the presence of the mids on these FT1? Thank you, and appreciate you in advance!
Great! Very full sound, I have them plugged into my computer but also had them plugged into a Loxjie A30, the A30 made them rumble and louder, but now I'm waiting on a FIIO K3 headphone DAC and hopefully it'll sound better than the A30, but either way, they sound great!
Sorry for a delay with answer, glad that Favian answered your question, I agree with his comment. Mids are present here, except of super bassy tracks, when lows overwhelm anything else. But it's not a fault of FT1 in particular
@@PortaFi That's ok, you're not a robot, I appreciate any human reply on any schedule! With what has been said, I think I will like the FT1. It's tricky as a contemporary consumer; no longer are we purchasing in store where we can try before we buy, it's an online purchase, and more and more it's an overseas purchase, not always with a feasible return policy. I went for the JT1 because of my budget and enthusiastic UA-cam reviews. But in reality the reviewers didn't describe the sound truthfully, so I didn't know what to truly expect, they just gave hyperbolic praise, and that gave me false confidence to buy. The FT1 are not in my budget currently, but I will save up and wait for them, because good sound of good music is worth waiting for and a good reason to be alive. So the work you're doing is really helping on a heart and soul level. Thank you very kindly 🙏😊
with M1 Air it'll be OK, with some good dongle it can be slightly better. but you can try them as is first of all, most likely it'll be already good for you
Great review! Got my pair on the way now and can't wait to compare them to my go to closedback, the DT 770 Pro X L.E. :) Quick question, where did you get that awesome looking cable bracelet from?
@@arkadiuszchyla7353 I like the Fiio FT1 more in every aspect! What you get included for just 150€ is amazing. The cables are good, there is a balanced cable included, which is my go-to and even a nice travel case. Don't get me wrong, I still love the DT for what it is but the Fiio is like an overall upgrade, for even less money. So I'd say the Fiio is the better headphone and overall package. The wood is beautiful but I feel like the Beyerdynamic would be more sturdy when you are on the go. It also has better noise isolation in my opinion so in noisy outdoor environments I would prefer them, everywhere else the Fiio is the clear winner!
@@PortaFithanks for letting me know! Ordered one right away and received my beautiful 99 Classics in Maple Silver as well :) And if all goes well, I am going to pick up a 109 Pro which was used as a display piece for about 350€ this friday, yay!
I like these: the bass is punchy, they are comfortable, but the highs don’t work for me. I’m not sure passive noise isolation is going to be enough and I prefer my Edition XS.
@joefilter2923 I'm very interested to hear why you like the Edition XS more than the Fiio FT1 as both as described seem appealing to me without the ability to actually listen to compare. So I'd love to know the differences and why the Edition XS wins your favour. Thank you kindly!
@@hubey the bass is less visceral on the XS, but still strong, and the entire range of sound is more clear, with no distortion on the top end. I tried EQ, but couldn’t find the peaks that bothered me on the FT1. The fit on the FT one is nice because I have a medium size head.
@@joefilter2923 There's no "distortion" whatsoever on the FT1 so I don't know what you're talking about, it's just somewhat darker. And it easily competes with plus +$400 closed backs.
Hello Pavlo, I hope you and your Family are well. Can you tell me how big the inner diameter and the deepness of the pads are? I always have issues with the fitting over-ear Headphones, my ear is 6.5cm in length and I need 3cm clearance so that the driver doesn't touch my ear. Maybe you can also do the same for the JT-1? Thank you and be well!
I'm about the same here, and this headphone fits fine. The driver has an angle to it, so it has a little extra room inside the cup. However, much like with the JT-1, I have ordered 30mm thick ear pads for it. Once the stock pads soften, the driver will touch your ear. With 30mm thick pads, there's no chance of that happening.
