If this was my own house I would cut the wall apart and move the plumbing. It will add time and materials but the finished product will be worth it in the long run. This was a budget and schedule constrained project. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Dude you’re awesome! I don’t say that bout a lot of dudes because usually it’s not true! I’m a Lowes installer but I’m always trying to learn more due to side jobs and I hate to pass them up. Unless it’s not what I’m comfortable doing, I do pass them to someone I know can handle it. But after watching this I can do it. Most of it is not giving up and finding a solution regardless of the situation! Awesome..
I put in almost that exact vanity set up and I had water flow problems as well. Im not a professional by any means and it took me a good 30 minutes after process of elimination to finally remove the aerator and blow on it. I guess That's the first thing i should do from now on. Thanks for the vids!
A good tip I can give as a handyman, when dealing with customers. Ensure that you get all agreements in writing. I try to either put them on my estimates, or by text or email. When you do verbal agreements, it's easy to forgot what was said, and harder to disprove a customer who really isn't recalling the truth.
I only made it two minutes into this video and figured out this man is Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing and keep up the videos and the editing, awesome!
If I were the customer I never would have chosen that particular vanity knowing the plumbing situation. That is something I always remember is that drawers or shelves where the pipes are...well, you know it's going to be mod city to fit it.
That’s why I’m here too, charge a hell of a price, do a hell of a lot better than that. I was astonished to see big ass hole cut in base of cabinet, and then go wtf the drawer has to be cut too? 90 up one hole with pipe through it and then make the hook up, and was there a compression ring in the pipe he connected directly to sink?
Glad you had this video. I will be helping my friend install two vanities for his bathrooms soon. This will make me seem like I know what I'm doing. I want that vest also. Thanks.
I love the way your so diligent. Top quality work. Keep it up. There's no way you could charge the amount you do in Britain. People just don't want to pay for anything.
I was thinking to myself... I know he isn’t cheap so if I hired him I would expect that the pipes not be visible when I open the cab door... Then you mentioned it would take relocating the pipes behind the wall and it costing more and it made $en$e. Love your vids and personality. Easy to watch.
It's tragic that you had to tear the bottom of the cabinet out, that would make me sick as a handyman I would have moved the plumbing to fit the new cabinet for the customer.
When I have to notch a drawer I add back three pieces of prefinished wood so that the drawer becomes safe to use. Nothing drops though to hole in the bottom of the vanity. Takes less than 30 minutes if you have the material at hand. Critical on a $1000 install.
Nice video! Is it good idea to know the price of the cabinet to know how much charge to the installation? Any ratio between both that you could recomend?
Bar keepers friend liquid from home depot and acetone afterward with rag (tshirt material) and a lil elbow grease should clean those pencil like marks on various stones.
Just found your channel love it, I am a tool & die maker by trade. I do a little bit of everything for some extra cash learned some good thing from your channel.
Remove the aerator prior to turning on and jet any debris out. Also, I'm surprised the water valves weren't covered to stop any dust from getting in the lines. Great job tho - much better than I could do..
Hello from South Africa, not sure if or how many viewers you have from my side of the world ! I have been watching your videos for the past few weeks and find it fascinating how things are done in USA. I lived in Australia for a bit & things there are done very similar to USA, wooden house; here in SA all our house are brick built. I have been in the Home Maintenance / Handyman business for the past 20 odd years and learn new things almost daily. I have been trying to find that little gadget you used in your video installing the angle brackets to the posts for the pipe handrails, like a centering drill thingy. Been battling for year to get the pilot holes drilled dead center so that the bracket is not misaligned from a off-center screw. Also not that easy here in SA to get deliveries from USA. I recently ordered the Stanley Fatmax vest via U-BUY (USA) and it set me back almost $200.00. Any chance that you can drop me a link so that I can try & get one of those "centering drills" over to SA ? PS "my wife loves watching your videos with me and is amazed how you get everything done solo". Direct quote from her "this guy takes so much pride in his work". Stay well & keep up the excellent videos, cheers Gordon
Great video always very helpful and nice to watch just did one the other day great upgrade the one I did was a cheap 150$ they got at hd easy fun upgrade
I’ve been binge watching since stumbling upon you’re videos. Awesome content. Keep it coming.... off topic question.... What kind of watch are you wearing. I’ve been trying to figure it out. Thanks.
Great videos! Question: when applying caulking between the backsplash and the vanity, why did you use painters tape? Why not just run your finger over the caulk to remove the excess?
I would have liked to seen a pik of the outside of the house. You peaked my interest after you said $2000.00/month. I also like when they say: it should only take a second to put the cabinet in. No retrofitting LOL.
I could install a vanity but not as a handyman. You would be able to break into the wall if you had to, make any modifications, repair the wall or any other problems that came up and complete it in one day. Nice work looks good. Dont go into the wall if you dont really have to.
Hey Handyman great video the only thing that you didn't show was how you finished what cut off the drawer when modified it. Other than that great job!! 🖒🖒
It depends on the customer. A lot of people know exactly what they want and what they want to spend. Some ask for my opinion. I feel them out to see the best way to approach the project at hand.
How do you like that tool you used to cut the baseboard and so forth I have the same one but my batt died was thinking of just getting a m12 version instead of buying more batts since I have those already.?
I melted down the motor on my first one. So far this one is holding up OK. I have a few batteries. I buy the blades in bulk on amazon I think 50 to a 100 at a time.
dang $500 to install a vanity which clearly now atleast one or both drawers are useless, I dont know how you come up with this customers that are willing to pay $500 to $900 for such job, but more power to you man.
I used to do insurance restoration. I was a project manager. We mainly worked with USAA. We did a lot of bathroom vanities, and labor costs thru xactimate always came to $400 minimum. It’s cheaper to pay someone $500 who knows how to do it than find someone who says they will do it for $250 and then end up having to buy a new vanity.
Not sure if this was asked but why didn’t you just shorten the drawer that way it had more of a finish look to it? I see why you didn’t move the plumbing that’s a lot of extra work. Like the videos you post knees them coming.
"Setting clear expectations" before any job. It is a simple powerful truth. Thank you.
Real good demonstration, explanation of why you choose not putting plumbing in wall. I liked your trouble shooting. Now I am going to tackle mine.
If this was my own house I would cut the wall apart and move the plumbing. It will add time and materials but the finished product will be worth it in the long run. This was a budget and schedule constrained project. Thanks for watching and commenting.
That was very very good ...what I learned was how to work around problems when you tackle projects like this...thank you
Very informative. I only wish I could clone you and have you working in Cleveland, Ohio. Thanks for all the good videos. I love them.
Thanks for sharing the inside and outs of the handyman dealings.

You did it again, what ? A great tip ! The painters tape for caulking,
I put in almost that exact vanity set up and I had water flow problems as well. Im not a professional by any means and it took me a good 30 minutes after process of elimination to finally remove the aerator and blow on it. I guess That's the first thing i should do from now on. Thanks for the vids!
Ozark Bran it’s always the small things that get ya.
Ozark Bran I always remove the airerator before turning the water back on and flush the lines
Chavez3d yes it usually is dangit!
Danny Bailey thanks man, its my first step now

Dude you make it look so easy, the modifications is what's scary
It will not cost that much more to just move the trap up higher and have a 90 or two 45s going to be existing drain instead of cutting the giant hole
Your really the only good handyman I watch on UA-cam keep the good work
Glad you had this video. I will be helping my friend install two vanities for his bathrooms soon. This will make me seem like I know what I'm doing. I want that vest also. Thanks.
Thanks for the videos! I enjoy watching and picking up tips on how to do things right!
Nice and clean, great way ti apply the silicone with tape. I can’t explain why I was blowing the wood dust every time, but I did .Lol
That was a fair price... 👍 good job
I love the way your so diligent. Top quality work. Keep it up. There's no way you could charge the amount you do in Britain. People just don't want to pay for anything.
I admire your knowledge. Good on you! I look forward to seeing your new videos.

I like the chalking trick, I'm going to give that try.
Did you use silicone to seal the marble top to the vanity?
McGyver...Love it.
That bathroom turned out very nice!
Yeah, some sweet tools! Love the drill with lights!
Consider cutting the legs so there's not so much gap at floor level? Time consuming of 15-20 minutes? More finished look I'd think.
" this goes right up in there......... ohhh yaaaaa " LOL. too funny. great video though. I definitely learned a lot
Good job , I like how you work boss.. I'm learning a lot thank you
Cool project, good work, good pricing.

i enjoy seen your videos...... good job man
I was planning on installing my own vanities (I have three bathrooms) and it is not that easy so I will have to hire someone... but good video!
I did this exact same thing in my house. Im very handy myself but i had no clue ppl pay $500 for something so simple!!
I love the video. It is easy to understand.
Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing
I like your videos and learn a lot from them!
Ok handyman. Been watching your new stuff and wow what a difference. Have to say I’m loving scruffy handy man rather than duck dynasty handyman
That was a lot of work. Great job!
Pull vanity base away from wall, trim left rear leg shorter.
Nice video!
Is it good idea to know the price of the cabinet to know how much charge to the installation? Any ratio between both that you could recomend?
Another awesome video, keep’em coming.
Good work. Lots of good advice hear. I gotta get an oscillating saw asap. I'm sure it comes in handy more than I can imagine. Thanks
*here
They’re pretty cheap, I got an 8 piece porter cable set off amazon that had one for I believe 450
Adventures of a Handyman you’ve got to get one. It is one of my favorite tools!
Is there a way to modify the pipes to avoid cutting the drawer?
Bar keepers friend liquid from home depot and acetone afterward with rag (tshirt material) and a lil elbow grease should clean those pencil like marks on various stones.
Great Job as usual!
Just found your channel love it, I am a tool & die maker by trade. I do a little bit of everything for some extra cash learned some good thing from your channel.
Great video...on the occilating tool the Ridgid 12 volt job max.does it use the same interchangable heads as the 18 like can I use the 18 on the 12?
Good video. But you might think about not speeding up the audio when you speed up the video.
5" wide mouth crescent great for angle valves...that and the old channel locks my "go-to" plumbing (oh, and the rigid basin wrench)...:-)
it's called gentrification.
I cut off the video as soon as he said that. smh
@@oviebazunu5120 Gentrification is good for the community. Run off the low life's , crime goes way down, property values go way up. Life is good.

So, why didn't you turn the pipe upside down, then cut the excess instead of cutting the drawer? Does it HAVE to go that way?
should have move the plumbing, the drawer is useless now. I guess client didnt want to pay the extra plumbing work
Great video thanks.
Thanks
Would be helpful to have voice-over telling us what you are doing through the job...
Great job !!!!
Thanks Elvis
Liked this.
Is that what swearing sounds like, sped up 20x?
Why didn't you cut into the wall to raise the drain line? Could have kept the bottom of the cabinet and the drawer in tact.

Why didnt you show yourself checking for leaks? The abs links DO leak, always double check!
Did you know you'd have to modify that drawer before you bid?
Is very common to have to modify the drawers. I do it on almost every one. I bid for the worst case scenario.
excellent work.

Great videos! Question: when applying caulking between the backsplash and the vanity, why did you use painters tape? Why not just run your finger over the caulk to remove the excess?
It is silicone not normal caulking.
I would have liked to seen a pik of the outside of the house. You peaked my interest after you said $2000.00/month. I also like when they say: it should only take a second to put the cabinet in. No retrofitting LOL.
I have my rental that is $2525 per month. There are videos of it on my channel.
Aren't purple wire nuts for copper/aluminum connections? They have some anti corrosion paste inside if I recall correctly.
Why is acetone necessary for sinking counter?
I could install a vanity but not as a handyman. You would be able to break into the wall if you had to, make any modifications, repair the wall or any other problems that came up and complete it in one day. Nice work looks good. Dont go into the wall if you dont really have to.
*But is it a good idea to break the wall and replace the plumbing behind the dry on a 100 year old house?*
Does that include materials.
Nice work bro, is that a Dremel your using or whats the brand and do you like it?
How has the countertop held up for you. I'm looking at the same cabinet and read a lot of bad reviews about the countertop.
Great video 👍🏼
I liked the video, but I would have been happier to see some of the stuff in a slower motion. Thanks.
Care to provide more information on the rechargeable tool you used to cut the plaster on the wall to make room for the back of the furniture?
I want that sink at my house.
You can get it on the home depot website.
Awesome video!
Did you bond the porcelain to the cabinet base?
Why not raise the trap and avoid all the modifications and have a much cleaner install?
How would you convert a double vanity to a single vanity?
Hey Handyman great video the only thing that you didn't show was how you finished what cut off the drawer when modified it. Other than that great job!! 🖒🖒
I used the same tool that I used to cut the baseboard out.
What i mean is (finished product) how you enclosed the drawer again after the cut off that you made to it

Looks a nice cabinet how much would that cost to buy
+Tom Earnshaw The vanity cost $1365 US dollars.
What was that little saw you used to cut the Baseboard trim with and the inside vanity to make rooms for the drain pipes?
This! I need this tool! Please anyone know!??
Did that tile you install on the wall above the sink come with the countertop or was it a separate purchase?
In terms of water damage to the cabinet which is better, the first or 2nd?
What is the name of that cutting tool you was using on the Crown molding and the vanity.
