🇨🇦 Lorne Green was a Silver Fox, with a voice no one can forget. So manly. I crushed on him and on Hoss, even as a child. I am now watching it, on my Android tv box in 2022. Such memories! Lorne Green and the Bonanza crew live on!

Miss the dear Lorne Greene. Remember him as a newscaster, when I was a child, before Bonanza. He had a very distinctive voice. Great actor, always remembered.

Once you've seen a few episodes of Bonanza, you realize that Ben Cartwright was the epitome of integrity, love and compassion. There are a few episodes that exemplify these principles. The one with Ossie Davis, as a single black father of 3 children in 1963 was especially powerful! Everyone trusted Ben and his boys. Lorne was my #2 favourite only to the handsome, virile, tall Pernell Roberts! Love the show!

The episode. “The Wish” with Mr. Ossie Davis aired in 1969. “Enter Thomas Bowers” aired in 1964. The handsome Mr. Pernell Roberts was my favorite too!

What strikes me with this interview is the keen interest Lorne Greene has with Ray Martin’s intelligent questions ..Martin totally engaged him and encouraged a glimpse of the human being not just the actor

It was available on Foxtel here in Australia pretty much since Foxtel started.
It was on Nick At Nite when I was a kid in 1997.
It moved to TV1 when Nickelodeon became a 24/7 Channel then to Fox Classics when Fox Classics became a 24/7 Channel.

Great interview. Another thing that brought down the barriers between blacks and whites, was Motown. I remember, and i believe that Motown music made a bigger change for civil rights and inclusion than even MLK did.

I watched the episode several times about the opera singer, Thomas Bowers. Hoss brought him to the house and Ben, Adam and Little Joe met them outside and explained things to them. The sheriff came to the Ponderosa once he found out where Thomas Bowers was, in order to arrest him. I remember it being Sara of the ladies group that made arrangements for the singer to come into town, but she did not know what he looked like. What a shame that Mr. Green fabricated that part of the episode. On the other hand; It could have been that he did not remember since this interview was in 1986. The Bonanza episode was “Enter Thomas Bowers.” In addition, Mr. Raymond St. Jacques was the first black actor to star in a leading role on a western series. He was cast as Simon Blake on “Rawhide” in 1965. That was long before Bonanza’s cowboy. Mr. Ray Martin was correct that 1963 was the middle of the Civil Rights marches/movement, which was 1954-1968. I have a feeling that Mr. Pernell Roberts had something to do with the Thomas Bowers episode, based on his activism. Mr. Greene was an amazing “Pa/Ben” on the show and it’s good seeing him being interviewed.
