- GOLD! The age-old motivator and one that saw tens of thousands of Americans fueling westward expansion to the Pacific coast. In 1863, John Bozeman pioneered a route that connected Montana gold fields to the Oregon Trail. As the Civil War closed, the flow of emigrants turned into a flood, angering the Sioux over this intrusion into their nomadic lands. The Lakota chief Red Cloud declared war. The legendary Jim Bridger and the Fetterman Fight are just part of the adventure.
It's amazing that the Bozeman trail has such a storied history yet it was only in use for four years.
I agree it is interesting that is well known but so few ppl used it.
I don’t agree with the premise of being used for only 4 years. The civil was only 4 years long but it’s well known by the world.

Maybe I should start that up. I've been bouncing around the idea of a show where I go into the details of the research. There is so much interesting fluff I leave out of these videos.
@doorusthewalrus6903 man. As a metaldetectorist, living in "Indian Territory" my meat and potatoes is Old West era relics and research. 75 to 80% of my relic hunting is spent in research. And I for one, would greatly enjoy something where you go over sources or methods or all of the above. Or interesting bits you found, that were not related to your videos. I'm currently researching the 3 Forks area of Muskogee/Fort Gibson Oklahoma for metal detecting sites. And found an unrelated but mind blowing bit of historical data that made me pause to go pursue it for more information. FYI, it was the Glenn-Fowler Expedition to Santa Fe. Fowler had actually walked across the farm I was researching.

@5:51min-the Wagon Train splitting up was what caused the outcome.Had they stayed the course the Sioux and Cheyenne would've attacked but gotten worse than they gave!
