I'm a patron of both, and with both of them having their lowest tiers set at just a single dollar, there's really not much reason why you couldn't join both 😄 But that's completely up to you, either way your money goes to support Geoff's work, be it his solo work or his group work. If it were me, I'd look up both options and see what perks you get for the amount you are planning on supporting for, and decide then what sounds more interesting to you 🙂
I agree and would love to see him become a patron of both Voice Play and Geoff. Start with a dollar at their lowest tier and he can always change it and go up on either Voice Play or Geoff (or both ) later on. Great perks on both for even just a dollar a month.
Love this, you always look like a kid in a candy store when it comes to geoff and voiceplay 😂 💜 and keep your eye open for the end of the week, geoff's new song is gonna drop 😉
As a guitarist and singer, I have covered this song so many times, I started hating it. I am a bass but always sang it like a baritone... I have since begun singing it again, but with a LOT of influence from Geoff.
I joined Geoff's first. But if at all possible, consider Voiceplay too. Their BTS are reasons to get up in the morning 😅 Your sincere appreciation is a joy to behold.
Geoff & Voiceplay have the ability to take songs I'm not that bothered about & make me love them as you say probably because I love Geoff & VP. I'm a Patreon for both & as well as helping them make great things I think you would really enjoy the behind the scenes they put out.
I'm patron of both and I can't give you a recommandation. Both are totally worth to join but I have to say from Geoff you get a little bit more extras.
I smiled to myself when you stated that he often used real sounds like snapping of the fingers. I knew full well that he was going to be closing the lighter and the trunk was going to slam shut. I don’t know why but I really like those touches. It just makes it seem like you’re part of it. Thank you for always letting the outro play out. It wasn’t always this way, but lately they’ve been using the karaoke track on the outros. When you do decide to become a patron, if you’re at the five dollar level you get access to the karaoke track and often there’s a behind-the-scenes which are always entertaining. VoicePlay is really good about the behind-the-scenes, Geoff has started doing it relatively recently. I started at the one dollar level, but when I noticed the obvious connection between the members, I upped my membership to five dollars so I could see the behind the scenes. The karaoke track was a pleasant surprise and I actually do play them sometimes just for themselves. Even with a fairly simple set like this, I appreciate that he has taken the time to set the stage. It looks like a rundown brothel, with the wallpaper peeling due to the humidity of New Orleans and the slightly derelict feel about the whole place. Watching a Voiceplay or Geoff video sometimes is immersive. It’s not just the song, or the arrangement but the setting adds to the whole feeling of the song.
Couldn't sleep and randomly came across your Misty Mountains video. Ended up watching every single Geoff and Voiceplay reaction you have on your channel. It is now almost 3am and I have to be up for work in 2 hours 🤦♂️😂😅😐 Definitely subcribing to you. Your sense of humor is exactly like mine and you're passionate and not afraid to show it.
That is defiantly not the lowest you've heard Geoff. That would be the B0 in Valhalla Calling and HALO. I'm going to weigh in on both, but with the caveat that being a reactor AND a patron means that there are times that you will have access to a song but can't listen to it, because the video isn't done yet and so you have to wait for the wide release to watch it for a reaction, and I have always admired the sheer willpower that takes!
"Is that the lowest note I've heard from him?" *me scratching my head to try to remember if he's reacted to Geoff songs that have gone lower i.e. Way Down or Voiceplay's Valhalla Calling and Halo Theme*
You are very insightful on many aspects of music and vocals. You also have a rich knowledge in the development of post (video/music) and artistic expression. You express yourself very confidently and enthusiastically and are truthful in everything you address. Thank you for your reactions out of all reactors you are the best.
Yep. I've been feeling guilty about my strong attachment to Home Free slip-sliding because VoicePlay's videos have been so killer, lately. And I *know* a good part of VP's greatness is Geoff's contributions in arranging as well as vocally. So, really, all roads lead to Geoff. That should be on a t-shirt.
Very pleased you found a version of this song that pleases you! As a Baritone Sax ( Stovepipe ) player for many many years, one thing that musicians commonly share is the appreciation for a fellow artist regardless of whether you personally care for the song. Some context, this song originates in the Appalachian region of the United States somewhere around the 1930's ( artist unknown ) and is a warning from a brother to his siblings to not live his life like him and have it self - ruined. The song became popularized by the band the "Animals" in the 1960's, another group I'd recommend. As for Geoff? ... Genius ... nuff said. Next Geoff song? Try the Reigns of Castamere from Game of Thrones. Peace be unto you! 😁
Exactly. For example, I am not an Elvis fan, but respect what he did and understand why so many people do like him. Oh, in reality, they believe this song originally comes from Ireland and may date to as far back as the 1500s. Like a lot of Appalachian folk music, much of it has its roots or influence in traditional Irish, Scottish, and even baroque music.
Arthur Plane...sorry, but according to my research the song was first mentioned in the Louisiana Gazette in 1821. It is believed to be related to a folk song from the 1500's called "The Unfortunate Rake".
This is one of the best reaction channels because of the appreciation and musical knowledge; there's such joy when finding great music. Plus, I love so many of the same artists (who are often working independently to bring us their work.) Overall, we're celebrating people who are not shoveling out the same formulaic music industry stuff. These are artists who are sharing what's uniquely inside them.
I am a patrion of Both. Go for it. Fun Facts keep an eye out for that gramophone-looking record player. You will see it in quite a few of Geoffs' videos. He has made it into his logo. In his Elvis cover of Way Down a C1 he said took him 80 takes. He hits a B0 in HALO and in Valhalla Calling.
I cringed when they did The Chipmunk Song for Christmas because I hated that song. I'm old enough to remember when it came out and I hated it as a child. Geoff's arrangement and Voiceplay's talent converted me.... but only to their arrangement. I still hate the original! When I recommend Geoff covers, I usually say why or what is special about any particular piece. For this one, I just say that he is showing off. He hits that low tone 5 time, 5 TIMES!! Usually it's just 2 or 3 times. I always liked the song because I liked Bobby Darrin's cover of it because I liked Bobby Darrin. Your hypothesis confirmed! I started out supporting Geoff and Voiceplay at the $1 level per video, then bumped to $5 to get the Behind the Scenes. If you can only do one, make it Voiceplay; you are supporting a larger crew. Peace, my brother!
Chipmunk Song hater here too! I cringed when I saw that that’s what they were doing it was really tempted to give it a pass. But I listen to it and now I love it, but only their version!
The bit about your feelings about the artist affecting the feelings about the art-very true. Which is why I do my best to know as little as possible about artists whose work I like. I don’t want to find out something about them that ruins it for me.
I remember watching your introduction to Geoff. I had to chuckle at your fun reactions. As for whether to support Geoff or Voiceplay, I support them both.
My advice would be to join Voiceplay at the $5 level and Geoff at the $1 level to start with, because that way you get access to BTS videos for both channels. Their BTS videos are amazing! I say to start with, cause my experience so far is that the more of their content you get, the more you want 😁
They have a variety of tiers, so it’s very doable. And since I couldn’t decide, just like you have been saying, that’s why I decided to join both. And I think you would enjoy some of the perks that come with each of those tiers. Cheers.
Geoff Castallucci just released a new cover to " I See Fire " . He will blow your mind with this one. Hold on tight because the dragon is coming. Please do a reaction video to it.
I'm a low tier Vp patron, but that's because i found them first and cant afford to do both.... Since it's Geoff's voice that excites you, then join his... You can always join VP's as well if you wanted at a later date. 😊 ps.. I love FFDPs version of this..mainly because it's more rocked out.
Geoff’s new one comes out tomorrow. It is the sequel to Misty Mountains Cold. Also you must do 16 Tons. I am patreon to both voiceplay and geoff. I couldn’t choose. Oh and don’t forget to update your Geoff playlist. ❤❤
I joined both patreons. I think Geoff would say to join VoicePlay's (if you're only going to join one), because that's the kind of man he is and ultimately that supports him, too.
Do like i do, decide on what amount you want to support the artist with then just split it evenly between the two, this way you can support both ❤😊BTW new sub here I love your heart felt reactions!
E flat 1. He’s gone lower-B0 in Halo and a couple others and someone said he’s gone down to an A0. This is the first song I learned on the guitar. Might be popular because there aren’t that many chords. LOL. Great reaction as always!
I support both. I calculated a monthly amount I wanted to give and split it between the two. If I had to choose one, I'd probably go with Geoff. Individual artists often have a hard time of it.
You know what is hilarious, I can actually setup my own patreon, BUT, the ank pre-paid credit card I have isn't accepted haha. ALSO WELCOME TO THE SHWARMYYYY
Don't decide between them, support them both like most of us do, you get great content from both of their Patreons and you can always stop at anytime if you need or want to. I'm enjoying your trip down the combined VP/Geoff rabbit hole! I agree with your sentiment about the singer making the song, at least sometimes. I dove in watching Geoff and VP and soon ran out of their respective catalogues, except for "High and Dry" a Geoff cover of the Radiohead song. I'm not lying when I say it was the last song of his (out at the time) that I listened to, just because I hated the original so much. Finally, I listened to Geoff's arrangement of it and was impressed how different it felt. I even went back and listened to Radiohead's version, thinking maybe I misremembered it, but nope, still hate that version. It sounds thin and strung out in the original. So I totally get what you're saying about the impact a new arrangement or voice has on the source material. Please keep reacting to both Geoff and VP, I love your musical enthusiasm!
If you choose to support either, you won’t be able to take advantage of the percs until after each song debuts. Both Geoff and VoicePlay make it very clear that early releases are for Patrons only. Some reactors have reacted to those releases, but it’s not always the final release version so they may be missing out. In any case, the artists have asked them not to and that should be enough. Kathy does the BTS for both VoicePlay and Geoff. I find the VoicePlay BTSs slightly more enjoyable because of the different personalities and the comradery of the group. And they do have more people and feature artists to support. If you choose to support at a higher level, carefully read the percs and weigh which ones you would actually use and enjoy. Being a ‘fly on the wall’ for VoicePlay’s video shoot ranks high with me, but so does Geoff’s ‘show and tell’ breakdown of his arrangements. Not the ‘vote’ you asked for, but hopefully some info to help you with a decision.
I just found you. Good reaction. For me, the appeal of this song has always been the storytelling primarily. Have you heard Faouzia ? You might like the stripped version of her song “Born Without a Heart”.
Don't like this particular song, but I always love Geoff. I'm so glad to see your face 'cause I'm illustrating the cover of a book about the Saracen conquest of Spain and now I think one of my drawing looks a little bit like you, LOL. Saludos desde Chile!
I’m a patron of both. But you get the BTS perk already at the $1 tier for Geoff, whereas it’s on the $5 for VoicePlay. But on that level for VoicePlay, you’ll get the monthly live chat replay and the karaoke track as well. So check the perks of the different patron levels, choose what you can afford and what you want the most, they’re both worth it. I love everyone in VoicePlay equally much, so if I had to choose I’d choose them.😊
Support VP at $1 and Geoff at a little more, that way you can see the extra content for both, but definitely support our bass boy. I really wish I could spare money to support Geoff. Like you, he's the reason I got into VoicePlay. I saw "Oogie Boogie" back when it was trending on UA-cam, and then rediscovered them when "Over Misty Mountains Cold" trended. As a contralto, he's inspired me to ignore society (and voice teachers) that keep trying to get me to push my voice higher, and instead explore that low, rich, dark range. I'm even trying to learn subharmonics. I can sing down to A2, and I would love to freak out my music friends one day by singing down into the first octave, haha!
His lows in this only seem like some of the lowest you’ve heard because they are SUPER clean subharmonics, but the one you mentioned is an Eb1. You have heard him do B0s in Valhalla Calling, which is much lower.
You can join both for $1 each a month. I'd say just do that, lol. They're both worth it, for sure. These are definitely not the lowest notes from Geoff. His lowest sustained note is B0 in Halo and Valhalla Calling. He hits an A0 for a second in Enemy on a growl slide down. I'm gonna agree with someone else and recommend The Reigns of Castamere next from Geoff. It's amazing even if you haven't watched Game of Thrones! ❤
Join both. I'm in both and only pay $5 month each. I love that better than $1 because you get behind the scenes videos, audio tracks, karaoke tracks besides all the stuff from tier 1. Although Geoff's monthly chats (replay either tier) I enjoy better than Voiceplay. But I love it too. When I first upgraded on both channels to tier 2 I binge watched all the behind the scenes videos on them both. They are just as good as the videos themselves. And you get to see their true goofy fun side. So if you HAVE to choose one I'd say Voiceplay. I am on a limited budget and they are on with my monthly bills. I'm also a patreon of Pattycake Productions owned by Layne and former member Tony. That's where Geoff and Voiceplay do most of their filming. Lots of original live videos about Disney characters. They released2 this month about Ariel/The Little Mermaid.
Boudy, I don´t know if you know what is behind this traditional from New Orleans. In the 1800s ther was a famous house of certain "sins" including card games and the ladies of the night. FACT. The owner was a french woman Marianne LeSoleil Levant , also called the Rising Sun. It tells the story of those poor sods, who thought, they could win at cards....... You be safe as always. Elmar from Germany
Hi Lebanon Man, no reflection on Geoff, but like you I also have never fallen into this song, it is depressing. 16 Tons, Big John I love why don't you play them? They are classless to me. When you 1st listened to GoffGeff, I recommended The Mayor of Castlbridg3, please have a go. I might get past the 1st episode of Game of Thrones. Have a spinning day with the hot baking sun. Summer is here !!!! ❤
I still likeAvi Kaplan cover of this song better when he was doing a charity show ua-cam.com/video/SbaihAMBFDM/v-deo.html its also a solo effort like Geoff but with his on style on it . The whole video clip is him singing in a plain room with a guitar and a not very good phone to record it all but still a great video :)
I was nine years old in 1964 when this song first came out by The Animals. Except for its one redeeming trait of telling mothers to keep their children from a sinful, destructive lifestyle, I didn't like the song then, have never liked it, and don't like it now as far as the lyrics and story line is concerned. Never liked The Animals as a group either. However, I do love to hear Geoff sing it because.......uh, because........well, because he's GEOFF!! And that correlates with phenomenal!
Geoff's lowest note to date, I believe, is a B0, but more often you'll hear an E1 and in Way Down he gets down to a C1. Not sure who the original artists of this song might have been. The best known version was by The Anials, a Biritish group way back, but it was an old song already. I am a patron of both VP and Geoff, at a fairly low level. Check out who has the most patrons, but then VP have to share the income between four of them. But then Layne also has Pattycake. It's complicated. as they say. :)
I'm a patron of both, and with both of them having their lowest tiers set at just a single dollar, there's really not much reason why you couldn't join both 😄
But that's completely up to you, either way your money goes to support Geoff's work, be it his solo work or his group work. If it were me, I'd look up both options and see what perks you get for the amount you are planning on supporting for, and decide then what sounds more interesting to you 🙂
Absolutely agree with this.

I support both. I figure it this way. If they were touring I would go to both concerts. So I pay it forward.

If you listened to Valhalla Calling - his low note is B0 and sustained for 12 seconds. He actually has 3 B0s in that.
It's not a 12 sec B0 tho it hovers up to a E1 and back down from what I remember

I know my post is not very related to the video but somehow I think commentaries are good for the UA-cam algorithm. Is that true?
haha ana! Let me know if you need a look at it! I hope it does look like me!
they absolutely are!
@@ArabManReacts I will send it to you once is finished!
I love everyone in VoicePlay equally much, so if I had to choose I’d choose them.😊
I suggest both. I did. 🙂
Man!!!
This is soo good!!😊❤
❤❤ you do it sooo goood!
Why not both?
His lows in this only seem like some of the lowest you’ve heard because they are SUPER clean subharmonics, but the one you mentioned is an Eb1. You have heard him do B0s in Valhalla Calling, which is much lower.
It's not much lower but it's lower :DD
You can join both for $1 each a month. I'd say just do that, lol. They're both worth it, for sure.
These are definitely not the lowest notes from Geoff. His lowest sustained note is B0 in Halo and Valhalla Calling. He hits an A0 for a second in Enemy on a growl slide down.
I'm gonna agree with someone else and recommend The Reigns of Castamere next from Geoff. It's amazing even if you haven't watched Game of Thrones! ❤
I think you should join both
Both!
Here is Geoff's latest (and I love how each character he plays has a different singing range): ua-cam.com/video/-b0HSW3CN9E/v-deo.html
Don't feel bad I thought they were identical quadruplets😂😂😂 the first time I saw Geoff solo
both
Both
To answer your question about the lowest you heard him go, he hit a B0 in Halo and Valhalla calling :D
Súper fan
If you had ever visited New Orleans, you would love this song! It's a Louisiana thing!
My first visit to New Orleans had me singing Sting’s “Moon Over Bourbon Street” the whole time. 😊

If you support Voiceplay, you'll also support Geoff, because he gets his fair share ;)
Geoff just dropped “I See Fire “
I can't find any HOME FREE on your channel or DAN VASC! Watsamatta U?
Did you know that Angelina Jordan sang this song in concert last summer ? ..... :p
The answer is yes… ❤
When you're pausing in the middle of the lines you are missing so many juicy moments.

One year late, but... Geoff is good, REALY good, buy White Buffalo man, nothing compare to his version.
Voiceplay
In halo cover and valhalla calling he hits B 0's
Geoff's lowest note to date, I believe, is a B0, but more often you'll hear an E1 and in Way Down he gets down to a C1. Not sure who the original artists of this song might have been. The best known version was by The Anials, a Biritish group way back, but it was an old song already. I am a patron of both VP and Geoff, at a fairly low level. Check out who has the most patrons, but then VP have to share the income between four of them. But then Layne also has Pattycake. It's complicated. as they say. :)
Sorry, I was around when the original came out do not care for this style.
Is haraaaaaaam akhi how you listen to music
And AJ 😊
