- I hereby take back every negative small minded thing i said about flat fomys lol
I flew my Arrows edge 540 that i got a deal on a few weeks ago and its way beyond my currents skill level, so i decided to jump on the flat foamy bandwagon and pre order on of these. first off, as someone who has zero 3d skills this thing is amazing, slow flying and even i can harrier and hover. second, its prebuilt... so for me thats awesome to try the profile foamy thing out without spending a day selecting parts and a day building. yea i guess its heavy for a flat foamy but i dont know any better so for me its awesome.
cg with the 600 mah spektrum 3s is just slightly tail heavy if you put the battery up against the motor mount as far forward as possible. i think go for the 850, i ordered some and i think im just going to swap the ic2 connector on the plane to an xt30 so i can get cheap batteries and in much more sizes and maybe even hv. the plane uses an avian esc so it doesnt need the fancy ic2 g2 lead, in fact on the esc side it doesnt even have it.
all in all i love it, im going to be burning packs on this thing for sure
As a kid we loved the foamy gliders! Yours is definitely way cooler
Thank you 🙏. We did too, could have only dreamed of these back then. Hope you’ve been doing well since I ran into you in California
I just maden mine yesterday with the same 600 battery leaving it a quarter inch space from the front open and it flew incredibly great! I so much love this plane now that I ordered 4 more batteries last night. My other 18 planes are going to take a back seat now so that I can learn some 3-D! …..and I have only been flying for three months! I recommend this plane as a learner beginner plane also!!! But in low rates, of course.
That’s awesome! Yeah it a blast to learn and get confident trying some 3D. I’ve really put mine through the ringer, plenty of glue and new hinges but it’s holding up great considering how many times I’ve crashed it. Building a twisted hobbies crack Gee Bee now, these flat foamies are a serious addiction
@@Finalmile_FPV That’s cool… I’m a newbie. Just started flying in August. I guess I got a little too excited so I’m building a balsa gas Sbach342 size 65.5 inches with a DLE20 from Phoenix models. I’m thinking it’ll take me about 3 months to build it but summer of 2024 is on! 😅 Thanks for your videos.
Just did the Maiden on mine today. Love it.
Hell yeah! It’s a joy to fly, it makes me feel like a batter pilot than I am.
If you do a lot of high energy maneuvers (crank shafts / waterfalls etc) pick up some extra prop saver bands because I have been going through them quite a bit.
I just watched your eratix maiden flight and like you had on the second battery the alarm going off even though you had a fully charged battery? Same airplane and same transmitter NX10 and a smart battery yet I still cannot find the problem. I checked with HH but they did not have an answer. It’s only happened on this airplane and this transmitter and battery. Did you ever find the problem or solution to the alarm? Thanks Enjoyed your maiden flight. Sterk03
I went in to the telemetry settings and ended up changing the low voltage audio alert. For some reason mine kept defaulting to a 4S battery so it would set the LVC alarm off constantly for the low total voltage.
I will look at that I checked it before but maybe I did not notice it going to a 4S. Thanks for your answer I appreciate it.
@@Sterk03 your welcome 🙏. I also set my LVC alarm per cell a little lower than normal, it’s such a small battery it tends to sag down on full throttle a lot. I usually do 3.7 but I think I lowered it to 3.5 and then just land right away ( not like I fly the erratix too far out).
I tried lowering each cell but that did not work but I need to take a closer look on the number of cells I could have missed that assuming it was 2. Thanks again
Ive always wanted a foamie but didnt wanna deal with the headache of building one. This thing could be the way to go
That’s the exact reason I bought it 🤣. Every other profile foamy is like 120 steps to assemble 😔
@@Finalmile_FPV Yep and i have a special kind of hate for CA glue lol
It's Soo fun maxed out....trim it out and set it up mechanically once it's setup right it's amazing......try it on 4s 600mah w an 8x3.8 prop and it's a blast
I’m going to order an 8” prop. I’ve got some 520 4s HV and some 600-650 4s regular I might throw on there. Really though, that HV 3s is quite a bit of power
Nice job man! Glad you like it. You'll learn a ton...😁
Thank you 🙏. You were spot on about learning 3D maneuvers on one of these vs a 1.3m extra or edge. Possibly the most fun I’ve had flying in a long time 🎯
Nice job... I have the Crack Yak and love it.. Takes a beating for sure.. These planes are wonderful trainers...
Thank you. They really are. With the arrows edge it’s just too heavy and things happen too fast for me still. Side note, the esc is rated for 4s so I might give that a shot just for a hoot, the 3s gives such a nice throttle resolution it might spoil it though
U always wanted a twisted hobby crack yak theybare thick
It's tail heavy on 650 mah u gotta add a half oz so just get the 850s and it's perfect
The non-stop frantic beeping was a nice touch
Lol, yeah….. perfectly encapsulates how I felt flying it
😂 but you meanwhile learned how to stop it from wrecking your nerves, don‘t you?! 😉
My plane needing ALOT of trim out of the box. I don’t know what they were thinking lol
Make sure your wing braces on the bottom are even. I installed mine and had one pushing the left wing up, which effected how centered I thought the aileron was.
Mine also needed a ton of manual linkage adjustment to get the ailerons centered. I don’t remember how man turns but it would have gone past the transmitter digital trim so I did it mechanically.
@@Finalmile_FPV I had to adjust the ailerons a lot. I tried counting the turns, but it was well over 10-15 turns
Hi guys my eratix also has the ailerons so out of trim it's ridiculous! I can't see all these planes getting past quality control without nobody noticing there's a problem! I hope you all get your eratix trimmed up and flying well your friend Marty from Canada 🇨🇦 🛩 🛩
Otherwise use the 850 right up against the back of the motor and it's perfect
That’s about where I have it now, 850 HV about 1/2” from the back of the motor mount
The problem I was having is that the color scheme sucks because it disappears into the gray sky, and I kept losing orientation. So I had to fly it close. But at my field I can’t stand closer than nearly 50ft from the flying area! so yesterday I sprayed-painted one side and one wing in Green color. 😂 I’m about to try it this weekend to see if it helps with keeping my orientation after 300 rolls! 😂
That sucks not being able to be close to the flight line. Definitely with something this size, doing 3D I want to be spitting distance away. I have flown it in the helicopter area at one club just so I could stand right near it, my logic is it’s not big enough to seriously injure me 🤣
@@Finalmile_FPV Exactly! haha
I fly mine almost daily in my front yard.
Now you get to find out why I switched to Insta360 for all my action camera needs. 15m recording at 4k 60 on a gopro and boom it overheats. You can film on any insta360 product at any resolution and fps and run it till the battery dies.
No kidding? I had the SMO 4k on a mini quad for a while and didn’t really like it. Granted it’s full of compromises being a “naked” product. I might have to give a full sized insta a chance.
@@Finalmile_FPV get the one RS. It's totally modular. For the same price of one GoPro you get two cameras. The 360 mod(5k) AND the 4k mod which can also shoot in 6k extra wide mode. I'm never going back. Plus the app is totally amazing and intuitive. Both phone app and the computer software. You can also upgrade to the 1in sensor mod for both the 360 cam and the 4k mod. That way you get better night capabilities.
@@abundantharmony thank you, I’m going to give it a look. Especially that 1” sensor, GoPro in low light is almost useless, stabilization falls apart and the digital noise from the ISO cranked renders the footage useless in my opinion.
@@Finalmile_FPV definitely worth a look.
Warnings are almost nonstop. The telemetry is becoming irritating. I've got to figure out how to turn it off.
You can lower the Low voltage audio alert down to 3.3 v per cell or so and it won’t go off as frequently. I think the motor prop combo pulls a lot of amps for such a small 3s battery to take without sagging down into the warning zone.
Once I flew it some more I just turned the voltage telemetry off and flew with only a timer, much quieter … but I’m so used to it it doesn’t bother me as much as it does those watching I think 🤔 🤣
Lotta gropp
Landing gear are poorly designed as even good landings will crack the fuselage at the wing. Gear should never go thru to there and fuselage crosspoints are eseveral times too small to stand up to the forces they see.
I agree. The cross joint at the fuselage failed for me at about the 15th flight. Shortly after I glued it back in one of the struts cracked and sheared in half.
@@Finalmile_FPV sorry but not surprised. I'm flying without gear now. Have ones on order from racores that look like a better design.
@@rackmasterh I’ll check that out. I was considering just hover / hand launching as well lol
fix the f@cking alarm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@johnscovel3170 your not a fan of the 12% throttle beeper and LVC alarm?
