    Those guilty of murder should receive an automatic whole life sentence: no possibility of parole, no release, no possibility of the murderer being a threat to the public again.

    I graduated in 1975 at Western Hills High School- the same year Carla would have graduated. It was a terrifying and shocking time for many classmates. And a big shock decades later to learn the monster who killed her lived on our street (Marks Place) and in proximity to other WHHS class of 1975 classmates.

      @@BrandyinIndy I don't know if he was on the short list at any point. What was so shocking was he not only lived and worshipped in the vicinity of Carla's home but his kids attended WHHS. For 5 years we lived on his street and another classmates back yard connected with his.

    I'm so glad that DNA exists now. So many old cases are being solved because of it. The issue is, how do you get a life sentence and be eligible for parole in only 6 years, or at all for that matter. That's not justice for Carla or any other victim. No wonder why police departments don't want to put the money out for DNA testing on old cases. These penalties need to change badly. RIP Carla, forever more

    • @shirleyashanti3031
      @shirleyashanti3031 Рік тому +3

      Criminal law statutes are very specific, and each element must be met for a charge to prevail. Sometimes lesser offenses are included, and Court is able to run cases consecutively instead of concurrently, thereby keeping people incarcerated if parole is granted. Cases are not always cut and dried.

      Especially for the state of Texas no doubt! Texas used be a state that didn't play around w/murderers, you were put to death. But not now obviously! Too many snowflakes out there that have whined & cried about the death penalty being too harsh so now we get cases like this. Makes me sick!

    • @arielsea9087
      @arielsea9087 Рік тому +3

      @@flocosta It’s sorely insufficient. No wonder people don’t hesitate to commit crimes. The sentence doesn’t fit the crime. This is a result of a faulty system and deals because there are so many crimes it’s a revolving door. Even with DNA these criminals still don’t pay the full consequences of their predatory actions. One day, they’ll face the true judgment.

    And by the way, the older Ruger .22 pistols had the magazine catch on the butt of the gun. Using the butt of the gun as a club would probably dislodge the magazine.

    What's interesting is Ron said the coroner's report said the labs they ran on Carla showed she had morphine in her system. What allot of ppl don't know is that Heroin will metabolize in the body w/a positive test for morphine. So him being a truck driver is probably how it was easy for him to get his hands on the drug as he was traveling across country & he probably did that cuz he was married & he needed Carla to be quiet & not make allot of noise. Knowing this I certainly hope she was out of it the whole time so she didn't feel the torture he put her through. Only God knows for sure about that but I certainly hope so.

I hate stories like this, where he did this and just went on for years living his life, doing whatever he wanted, living among her friends and family and more than likely hearing people talk about Carla. People like this have to be dead inside. No heart. So 6 years? I hope when the time comes they don't look at this frail monster of a human and feel sorry for him and let him out. One thing I’ve learned growing up in Chicago is lock your car door as soon as you get in. I’ve done it so many times, it’s automatic with me. My husband laughed at me one time because my car automatically locks the door. The only thing is the car has to be going a certain speed before it locks. Enough time for someone to open my door. After showing him this, he’s not laughed at me again.

A life sentence in Georgia is eligible for parole in 7 years, but it doesn't mean it will be granted, only that it's up for review. Court sometimes makes other charges to run consecutively in case parole is granted, so they cannot be released. An awful reality.

    When given a life sentence, it should be LIFE! No parole, no ever seeing the light of day! Look how many scumbags get out just to reoffend, they should never be given the chance to again! Thank you for sharing this story, as sad as it was, it needed telling!

    The judicial system is disgusting. Life in prison should mean just that. I am with you Ron on that.

    Sickening that he got away with it for so long he lived a full life free as a bird I hope he doesn’t get parole 6 years in is an insult to Carla and Rodney
