Nina Simone was the past generation's equivalent-- both proud, intelligent, strong, truthful, soulful black women whose music styles spans so wide that people don't know how to categorize them, because women like that can't be put into neat little categories and boxes. they are bigger than that. and so no, there is no one like them in our generation. maybe the next generation, maybe not...
