Priesthood vs. Parenthood

- Two separate worlds in the Ascension universe collide in this special episode on priesthood vs. parenthood. Or maybe they’re not that separate and different after all. Jackie and Bobby talk with Fr. Mark-Mary of the CFRs, and discuss how “Every vocation requires sacrifice.” Parenthood and the priesthood both require constant selfless giving. They both require that we set ourselves aside so we can do God’s work. So next time you watch an Avengers movie, when you see all those superheroes come together for a common cause to save the universe, think of priests and parents because they also have a common cause: to make God’s love known in the world.

"Avengers: Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover in history!"
Ascension Presents: "Hold my rosary."
aneraxe24 this is the best comment I have ever read in my entire life
Lol yessssss 😂🤣😂
😂 amazing!
Glorious! The most original comment I’ll ever see 😂🤣
at 7:35 "We have the same best friend"
This is a huge reason I LOVE my conversion to Catholicism.
There are friends I have, maybe even some family, that I just don't fundamentally connect with as much as some new Catholics I meet~
When 2 devout Catholics shake hands for the very first time, they immediately have ALL of life's MOST IMPORTANT values in common, right away.
The ascension cinematic universe! Now that's something I'd definitely want to see.
mesoma igbokwe the ACU... i like it
Marvel: "Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover event in history."
Ascension Presents: 00:20
so good!! Now we need one with Fr Mike and Matt Fradd! Pretty please!! An anniversary edition :0)
Yes! This needs to happen! 😁
O my gosh it will be so funny with Father Mike
This is like when your favorite show crosses over to your other favorite show
Loved your comparisons of parenthood and priesthood. There's great spirituality in both walks of life. A parent's job is to teach the faith and pass on spirituality to the family (a family can be looked at as a small parish). A priest's job is no different. The priest will pass on the faith and spirituality to his family - his parishioners, the laity. Thanks!
I loved this video! Great job ascension presents!! Love the joining up of Fr Mark Mary, Jackie and Bobby
If Fr Mike came out from the kitchen I wouldve spilled my coffee
This was great. I wonder if Catholics think often of how their priest is a father figure to sooooo many people and how much joy this must bring them. :-)
Not all priests are poor. Some of our parish priests live in big houses and have household staff. Order priests of course have less money. Also depends on the order and how generous they are to their priests.
But personally I think priests should marry. Protestant Churches allow their priests marry. It really comes down to keeping money in the Church. It is just a Church Law. Lots of priests marry in South America.
Better to marry than have a secret mistress.
My worlds just collided. 😳 You three are awesome! Thank you for being real. God bless
Great video you guys. Great to see you all together. God bless 🕇 🌹 🌼 🕇
I can't say how much I love this 😍. Priests and fathers all exercise fatherhood and this was a the most beautiful remainder of that. Keep up the wood work Ascension Presented. Long for more crossovers to come.
Thank you for this great reflections of fatherhood.
Awe that was actually adorable to watch lol I love how sincere Fr. was
Besides the awesome video, I just noticed Jackie's hair is super golden in this one. The things human beings notice on others. Lolz.
I love the priest. In my parish He is so gentle. When i'm making confession, We do not use the curtain. Would you choose two chairs facing each other? I think it face to face . I'm a returning Catholic . I'd left the church for a long time . I came back this year using my phone so I don't forget anything. No one is going to a mass every sunday. Taking the holy communion.
I love this. It really gives me hope for the future. Hope both of my grandchildren grow in their faith, and yearn to do God’s Holy will, in their vocations, be they.religious or parents.
*Can you guys talk about couples who struggle with infertility??*
Thank You Lord for priests and franciscans ! :-)
I thought Fr. Mark Mary showing up out of nowhere was hilarious. “it’s a different form of poverty”...something to think about.
:)))
What a Joy!
Three of my fav smiling people in the world are together!!!
THANK YOU! God bless!
Best Birthday Present Ever! I know you probably didn't mean to post this on my birthday but you did.
Eiii happy birthday! God bless you! 😄
@@jenniferannmendoza9556 thank you!!
Love this crossover! It is a very good perspective on vocations. Keep it coming. Looking forward to see the next one. God bless.
God bless Father's, Both vocations although contrast, compliment each other!!!
This was wonderful! Could we do a video with a sister? Would be interesting to see the perspective of a sister regarding motherhood.
What I’m hearing: if food or coffee type stuff goes missing it’s the Franciscan’s fault.
Love this! Hope the ascension worlds collide soon again!
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ 🙏 Mother Mary Pray For Us 🙏Abba Father Bless us and we Adore You 🙏
Great video. Good to hear the contrast between priestly fatherhood and biological.
All 3 of you are adorable!
I can love my children and be a crotchety old man at the same time! 🤣
Great subject, but so fun to have y'all together! Super idea :)
I was just translating Fr. Mark Mary and Br. Malachy's latest video when I got this notification!!
Crossover! Yes!! I love this 😊 y’all are so inspiring talking about each other’s vocations. So much love and understanding in this video 💕🙏🏻
Fr. Mark Mary is from So. Cal?! If he's a Dodgers fan I don't know if I can forgive that lol 😲
He said orange county ...so probably angels
Now get Fr. Mike Schmitz and complete the Ascension Universe!
0:30 Loved that "Avengers: Infinity War" reference from Fr. Mark Mary!😂
Can you make one for the ladies? Motherhood: Spiritual vs Physical?
i love this. this is like when the flintstones and the jetsons did a show together.
This is great!!!
Yey!!
Great message of Christian joy !!
Great job all, I really love what you all are doing.
I really enjoy your videos guys! I was at a retreat for marriage preparation with the Franciscans in Assisi and it was amazing. They warned us about certain things that could destroy a marriage. There are some I'd love to know your opinion about, because they are very subtle and not easy to pinpoint and fight. They are: handling relationship with families of origin and balancing a demanding work with family life. With these two issues it's tricky because many don't know where the limit is, and they are not really doing anything that could be seen as wrong. But they may end up killing the relationship overtime by depriving the family of what it deserves. Some don't even know what is it that you need to give to your family to make it thrive. Please tell us what you think about this and what is your experience. Thank you, God bless
What a fun and enjoyable video!
Super great thank you for this!
I am glad I chose to get married instead of being a priest . Because I like having children . My wife is fun to the philippines . But twin boys 13 years mold. I have a daughter 15 . My wife is 45 2023.i am 66 years old. I am retired. I help my wife clean the house while she is at work.
St Teresa of Calcutta was one of the richest people on the planet because she had Jesus and Mary. Yes,she had suffering’s-the dark night of the soul-but she also had true joy which only Jesus can give. God bless. Praise Jesus and Mary always!!!
Dude Bobby looks like Christian Bale! Jackie, you married Batman!
It felt weird not hearing Fr. Mark Mary say “somos peregrinos, poco a poco vamos a llegar” at the end of this video.
thoughtful insights on what similarities and differences there are between the vocations between priesthood and parenthood!
As a Byzantine Catholic... why not both?
Glad I’m not the only one with this question
@@corvettetyrant115 we have a married priest with 3 kids at my church near Pittsburgh haha
Same here
Ben Cafeo I know 2 married priests, I’m also from PA, 1 with 7 kids and the other with 10
Shame on you for including Your beautiful Wife in these Videos about God.
Nice to see you together.
Enjoyed this video!
Awesome Idea!!
Loved this!
This is so helpful to me even 7 years later. God bless you Fr. Mike!
"Every vocation requires sacrifice" but only the Roman Catholic Church requires celibacy and they have only required it because when the Huns killed all the priests they asked some monks to become priests and they said they would but ONLY if the priests would be forever celibate. Well they HAVE NOT been celibate, as least most of them have not. It is time to remove celibacy as a requirement to be a Catholic Priest, Deacon, Bishop, Arch-bishop, Cardinal and yes Pope.
Greetings.
Deacon can be married. And I know priests were married at one point in History, and sometimes, the reason for "forcing" celibacy weren't as noble as it should be.
The point is, now, as well as mariage, priesthood is a call and a choice. They accept celibacy beforehand, it is not like it's something they discover after pronouncing their vows.
And, as St Paul would say, in 1 Co 7: 32, 34 "An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is anxious about the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in both body and spirit. A married woman, on the other hand, is anxious about the things of the world, how she may please her husband."
A lot of priests say that to be unmarried allows to be disponible, not for someone in priority (spouse and family), but for everyone in general and Jesus in particular, THROUGH everyone.
If you're talking about pedophily scandals in the church that we hear more and more about, you may not know that sadly, it happens as frequently or more in families, some criminals being already engaged or married. The end of the celibacy isn't THE solution.
I hope you have a nice day. And a good Holy Week. (I don't know if we say Holy or Saint in English)
Steve Blanck I agree... celibacy and marrying in priesthood are man made rules. Even Jesus had Mary Madeline. Less men are now going into the priesthood. This is a good video but being a priest and being a father is very different indeed.
It would be cool if I ran into Fr. Mark while I’m working!!
Conversion happened at the In-N-Out Burger?
No, NEAR the In-N-Out Burger.
Those are good burgers.
GOD love you guys!
“From zero to gandolf” lol lol lol
I love this crossover!!!! EPIC!!!!
Love this one!
Great episode!
Wonderful messages 💓
Parenthood lead small church (family) with love and joy of God.
Priesthood lead ppls be salt and light for the world with love of God.
May God have mercy on us and world. Amen.
🇮🇩💓🇮🇩
Loved this!
I've often thought about the priesthood and sometimes have felt that God was calling me to it, but I ache and dream of becoming a husband and father. I watched this video hopefully to gain more clarity for my own path, and I relate more to Bobby than Fr. Mark. Any thoughts for how I should weigh this?
Most ambitious crossover yet
Fr Mark Mary is a really great dude
Love this. I’ve often seen the two vocations talked about but never side by side.
Beautiful Video!
That was fun thanks
🙏🏻🤣🙏🏻
God Bless.
If Fr Mike walked in my mind would not habe been able to cope
Great videos. X

You can be both a father and a priest, just BEGOME ORDODOX :DDDDD

@@c.g.jonesze9089 I'd prefer to stick to western Roman
@@ianlilley2577 I am from Germany, so I will have celibacy, if I am gone be a Priest, Isnt it beautiful to See a Priest spreading living celebacy with Joy -> um des Himmelsreiches Willen
