It’s so obvious that it’s practically proverbial: you can’t unboil an egg. But actually, it turns out that you can -- sort of. Eleanor Nelsen explains the process by which mechanical energy can undo what thermal energy has done.

@@rae721 even if you hypothetically had infinite knowledge in your brain, you would still be far from putting a limit to entire knowledge, because there will always be something you don't know, something new to learn, and the infinity of knowledge will be bigger than your infinity of brain knowledge,

How the fuck do you add a plastic bead to a strand of a microscopic protein?!
You beat me to it.
Plastic is made out of polymers which are just hydrocarbon chains. I think using an enzyme or some other reactant to knock the end off the protein so that it will then bond with some polymers will do the trick.
Just make the amine part of the protein react with an hydrocarbon that is an halide or pseudo-halide at its end.Not a fluoride tho.

NewZero Games that was so hopeful at the end :')
I did this in 2011 as my school project and got to use my dads (uni chem prof) lab for this - i call the process renaturalisierung (as in the reversal of the denaturalisierungs process)
also tried the process with fried and scrambled eggs - didn't work as well
I saw this video a couple years ago and when we talked about denaturing in biology I brought up the idea that eggs can be unboiled but didn't remember what the process was so obviously everyone thought I was playing a prank on them. So glad I found this again to rub it into their nose
I perfectly understand the concept of centrifuging aggregated proteins with strong inter-peptide bonds to separate them back into single polypeptide stands, but this procedure will not allow the tertiary structure to reform back to native state. Chaperone proteins will not be integrated back into the process of reforming the 3' structure. Though through this process i do agree that the overall viscosity of the solution will result in a more fluid nature do to the decreased intermolecular bonds created from the heating process of the boiling.

arent proteins tangled in a specific way? how do you know you rectangle those proteins correctly?
The real question is: Can you unscramble an egg? (without being Chuck Norris, that is...).
Conor Langford What you do is you take the scrambled egg, coat it in urea, then insert it back up the cloaca (bird vagina) of the chicken. The intense pressure of the chicken's vagina will put the egg back together into an egg shape. The intense heat of the chicken's lady parts will melt the egg back into the un-cooked state of pre-scrambling. In order to ensure that all the cooked bonds are reformed, you have to place the chicken in a centrifuge and spin it at 5000 RPM. After spinning the chicken, let the disoriented bird re-lay the egg. As the un-scrambled egg is re-layed, it will redevelop a shell, since that's how egg-laying works. Survival of chicken not guaranteed.
Conor Langford Alternative method: 1) go to trash can, 2) throw away scrambled egg, 3) go to store, 4) buy an unscrambled egg, 5) Darude - Sandstorm

Can someone please verify is boiling an egg a physical or chemical change. Now I'm confused
its physical. it turns to another form of appearance but its still an egg.
Well, actually, chemical changes are a subset of physical changes, sooo
Miguel Casanova Hmm, I never considered that possibility . If but if you involve the concept of hybridisation of atomic orbitals and formation of molecular orbitals does that still count as a series of physical changes? The actual structure of the atom itself and arrangement of electrons changes when making bonds.
Lelouch Yagami I'd say yes, as chemistry can be considered a branch of physics. Possibly, the most successful one, btw.
Miguel Casanova Your statement is that every chemical change is a complex physical change. There is a reason we have two separate terms for these phenomena. By definition a chemical change is a process where a new substance is formed. This includes changes in chemical structure. After giving it some thought, boiling an egg is a physical change since only the arrangement of molecules change, not their structure. But I object to your initial statement as it ignores the standardised definition of these processes.
Could you attach the egg to a machine that holds it at that angle and spins it? Or is the shape of the egg the issue? What if you poked a tiny hole in the top of the shell?

"The person who first discovered this “unboiling” technique was Gregory Weiss, a chemistry professor at the University of California-Irvine. Inspired by a collaborator’s use of a vortex-fluid device to pull apart other kinds of complex structures, Weiss wondered if that rotational energy could disentangle boiled egg-white proteins, too. As it turns out, it could. To read Weiss' paper, go here. " ---> www.chem.uci.edu/~gweiss/reprints/Yuan-CBC-2015.pdf

Wouldn't water and urea make urine?
Lyly Nguyen Only in the right ratio. Oxygen and Hydrogen make water, but you need 2 H for each O or you wont get water. If you have 1 H per O you get hydroxide, not water. Chemistry is all about ratios and energy.
Lyly Nguyen Urine is more than urea. It consists of other compounds as well. According to Wiki: Urine is an aqueous solution of greater than 95% water, with the remaining constituents, in order of decreasing concentration urea 9.3 g/L, chloride 1.87 g/L, sodium 1.17 g/L, potassium 0.750 g/L, creatinine 0.670 g/L and other dissolved ions, inorganic and organic compounds.
