That's cool you're doing CoT bass episodes. I thought in the past you needed more than your Gibson Thunderbird as it only provides a certain kind of tone for your demos. I think, if you have the budget, getting a Jazz bass would be ideal since it's more versatile than a P bass. You can make a Jazz sound like a P Bass but a P bass can't sound like a Jazz.

3:08 "you can do it!" Hahahaha gotta love the support! I love my cheap Glarry bass. I bought it to transition from guitar and later bought an active Epiphone Thunderbird Pro and I actually like playing my Glarry more... it isn't perfect by any means but it holds tune and the tone is nice and chunky. Very cool. i might have to pickup their jazz bass in the next few months. right now i'm primarily recording bass on the Hamer equivalent P bass. need those single coils for metal bass!
Hey! run that bass through your Rectifier man! my triple rectifier with matching 4x12 is a killer bass combo. seriously. (admittedly the extra 50 watts probably helps some). i'd have to spend a fortune to get a bass amp that was it's equivalent for recording. (yes, i got this from your vids).
Typically i split my bass to three amps. a Triple Rectifier, Panama inferno, and Carvin V3. that way i can run the mesa with distortion, and the other two clean (or any iteration thereof) and get my blend without actually having modern bass amps or pedals. (this works well for me since i run the same rig for my guitars anyway. all i have to do is swap around some mics, and adjust amp settings. i haven't tried running through my 15" full range speakers with my tube amps though. that could be cool. for a warmer sound i plug straight into my 1,000 gigrack pa which is connected to Peavey TLS-4's- surprisingly good speakers cabs). i also haven't tried micing the back yet, or underneath (even though your Alice in Chains video got me watching your channel). thanks for another great video! definitely gonna have to try these tecniques out. oh, and hey, that's some nifty thumb muting you're doing on bass!

I have the real deal Fender bass that I've had for over 20 years with the original pick-ups and it's WAY louder and sounds better than the bass I received. On my bass amp I have to put the volume up to 6 or 7 in order for it to have the same volume as my Fender bass. The logo on my bass looks like it's erasing and I got splinters on the neck of the Glarry bass. It's a piece of junk that I would probably take to a gig and not be afraid to drop it or have it stolen. So I guess it's okay for the price, just don't expect to use it much.

As soon as you started playing it was dead obvious that you are not a bass player. Ha ha ha ha ha. ;)
As far as bass tones I would like to hear: Discharge (Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing), Unsane, James Gang (first album, specifically Funk #48 NOT #49), Macabre, MORTICIAN.
Side note: I thought the Bassman had a better sound, but I like not clean bass..... >.>
    GOOD WORK!

@@CIRCLEOFTONE It does lack some of that low end thump, but I like, as you say, the attitude of the Bassman a lot more. I like grit a lot (if my bass tone suggestions did not give that away). In a mix it may sound a bit thin, but nothing that would be sterile, at least to me. Maybe the Marshall would be more rad with some gain sliding into it, but I still found the Bassman preferable. With a low end EQ boost it would have been no discussion in my mind. Just my two cents.

As an illustration of the value of these instruments, keep in mind what we could get for $70 in previous decades at previous decades dollar values.
In the mid sixties I wanted an electric guitar SO badly, Saturday morning cartoons got pushed aside for the weekly bicycle ride to music shops near and far to dream and look for a deal. One had an AGS electric for what I think I remember as being just over seventy bucks. Sure not as pretty as the neighbour's band's Fenders, it was less expensive than the "old" used Telecaster, (Old in 1965 😄😄😢 god I wonder what year it was), or the "funny looking" horseshoe branded orange coloured old Gretsch, "Take your pick boy $125.00 either one." which previous week's searches had uncovered.
I and most kids I knew had never even seen twenty dollars never mind $125.
Anyway, this other guy showed me the brand new shiny AGS and like an idiot in my youthful ignorance I pointed out a long wide crack up the back of the neck which pinched my thumb. So he called me a stupid kid and that I could fix that little crack easily if I knew anything.
    What a grouch! 😂😂😂
I knew enough to get the hell out of there!

Yep. People don't know the struggle. I got in debt and the store owner forged my age so I could get my first quality guitar on credit at 17. It worked out. I had stellar credit when I was 19 because of it. Hehe. I still have it. Tokai VC75
