    Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m in the same part of my program as you. I graduate in May 2022 as well😊 but in cardiovascular. I’m super excited to start my second semester Monday. Also, I would love to see your scans. I feel like it’s always good to see other parts of sonography and just soak up as much information as possible. Good luck to you this semester!

      Wow that’s awesome! Good luck to you as well this semester! I’ll definitely get to work on some protocol videos. I love that you want to expose yourself to different areas of sonography.

    You are amazing!!!! It will be great to make videos explaining each class with your notes. because most of student they lack good notes and how to study. Your video will be very helpful. If it is too much for you now (while in school), may be after you graduate you can have your own website and classes with a monthly pay. selling your notes and classes. please consider we definitely need it. Thanks again

    Did you start the semester having any prior knowledge of sonography? Or does it seem manageable starting fresh when the semester starts? Not going to lie I’m nervous. Want to get a jump on things if I can before I start. Thank You! 🙏🏼 Great Job by the way. You must feel amazing putting in all that work and it paying off!

    You passed SPI after just one semester?
    I thought the sonography students can only get the exams after program is done

      The rules can probably differ depending on your specific program, but mine allowed us to take the SPI as soon as we finished the physics course which we had to take 1st semester.

    Hey I want to get into sonography. What classes you recommend to take first. And I’m in San Diego Cali but don’t know what school will be good for

    • @JMaeSono
      @JMaeSono  3 роки тому +3

      So every program is a little bit different, you’ll need to do a lot of research to find a good school and make sure you have a competitive application. Most importantly the school should be accredited, and it’s best to get a degree rather than a certificate. Depending on the school you may have different prerequisites but you’ll definitely have to take basic college level English and math as well as physics and anatomy. Check out my first video “HOW I GOT INTO SONOGRAPHY SCHOOL” for more detailed info. And good luck!!!!

    Sorry if this is personal question, but is school expensive for sonography? I’m a junior in high school and I’m looking into sonography. There aren’t any schools in my state for pediatric cardiac sonography, which is what I’m looking into. I have a 32 on the ACT and a 4.0 unweighted gpa, so do you think I’d be able to have financial aid? I’m in a single parent household with 4 kids and my dad’s just a teacher, so I won’t have a ton of money for college and I don’t want to have a lot of debt.

    • @JMaeSono
      @JMaeSono  3 роки тому +1

      The price of school varies depending on what kind of school u go to, obviously private schools are a lot more expensive. I’m sure you will get some kind of scholarship for leaving high school with a 4.0. I don’t know what they do in ur state but in GA you would get a really good scholarship for that like almost all tuition covered. I am also in a single family household and my mom is a teacher too! So because of our lowish income I also qualify for a grant of about $4000-$6000 per year. And I didn’t leave high school with a scholarship but I was able to raise my GPA when I was taking prerequisites for the ultrasound program and then got what we call HOPE in Georgia and between that and the Pell grant I’ve been covered pretty much, all of my college tuition and fees. When you fill out your financial aid forms you’ll find out if u quality for anything like that. The average total cost for each semester of the program at my school before financial aid is $1500 give or take, and it’s all been covered for me. Only things I’ve paid out of pocket for are books, scrubs, the SPI, and I’ll pay for the boards next year. Hope this was helpful! Lmk if u have any more questions.

      Also (I don’t know for sure) but there probably aren’t a lot of schools specifically for pediatric cardiac sonography. You’d probably want to look into an echocardiography program (that is cardiac sonography) it’s different than DMS and you’d most likely learn adults at first and then go on to specialize in pediatrics later. But I don’t know you may have already done ur research and I’m wrong but if not I’d look into it. Lol

    Hi so for me I will be going into a 4 year university that offers Diagnostic Medical Sonography as a major and I will be double major in that an Biology. Do you think this is a good plan that would better my knowledge in the line of work or do you think I would be wasting my time?

    • @JMaeSono
      @JMaeSono  3 роки тому

      I think getting a bachelors degree is great, however it is not necessary. Whether you get a bachelors or associates in DMS you’re going to be doing the same job, but with a bachelors you may be offered more pay, may have a better change at becoming the department head (which is nice if you’re into more desk/office work like scheduling and conflict resolution), and may have the upper hand when looking for a job, but it really just depends, there are obviously a lot of other factors that would be considered when places are looking for sonographers. Everyone in the class that graduated from my program in May got a job pretty quickly even in the pandemic, so I don’t think it makes a big enough difference in the real world whether you have an associates or bachelors for that alone to make or break the decision on which school you go to. Either way you have to pass the ARDMS registry exam to become a registered sonographer, those credentials are what you have to have to get a job in the U.S. As far as double majoring in biology, I don’t really know anything about that, I guess it would leave doors open for you if you choose to pursue another career path after sonography, like if you want to apply to med school and become a radiologist. As long as the program is accredited, it’s really up to the individual how long they want to spend in school. Personally I wanted to be done ASAP and be able to start working and build experience.
