Good review. Is the reavon UBR X-200 still the best disc player ? I loved your review on that player and bought one. Expensive yes but does everything and does it very well. I know some of the formats are niche but if your have SACD or DVD -A or still pick them up it’s nice to have a player that covers all the playback options. Thanhs again for the great reviews.
The Reavon is the best absolute all-rounder universal player. The only edge the Panasonic has over it is thanks to the HCX processor for the on board tone mapping that could surpass the tone map built into a display and can also allow 4k UHD movies released with no HDR encoding to be perfectly displayed on any 4k display type with no gammer errors. This only because Panasonic built the chip in house, wear as the Reavon (and others including Oppo) use a standard on the shelf processor and can't output the needed rec 709 correctly for a rec 2020 colour space.
Is the GN1 a different (and better) version than the EG1? Or they are the same version but named differently depending on the market region it is sold?
I wish Sony had not discontinued the es1100 player It was a good price for a somewhat premium player. The Panasonic 820 is amazing, never had issues with it. I’ve had a few problems with artifacts on my Panasonic 9000
Hi, I have just bought this and mine is also the 2024 model, may I ask do the disks feel a bit hot after they have been played? If so is this normal, I am quite worried as this cost me a lot of money and need to know if I have to send it back for a replacement. Thank you.
Is there any way to make the Panasonic DP-UB9000 support external hard disk drives larger than 4TB capacity (e.g. 6TB)? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ¿Hay algún modo de que el Panasonic DP-UB9000 admita discos duros externos de más de 4TB de capacidad (p.e. 6TB)?
Panasonic had an opportunity to upgrade and catch up with its competition and didn't. Too limiting in terms of format. A Reavon will play EVERYTHING region free.
The first iteration used an AKM Dac, which due to a shortage they switched to an ESS Dac. The implementation is the same, by all accounts the ESS has a slightly better signal to noise ratio thats not detectable to human hearing. From tests done, there's no difference in CD analogue audio playback. Basically if you have either player with either Dac...you have an amazing player.
No SACD and multichannel DSD output. Is not interesting to me. I like the Sonys better with a Eversolo DMP A6 integration for multichannel DSD like Billy Joel The Stanger.
@TLPCHC I would say all the pedigree pop and classic rock catalog is there. And thousands of classical SACD pressings. Cheap too on Amazon. 80% of the music a guy like you would listen to is on SACD. Apple Spatial sounds like junk compared to the equivalent SACD multichannel.
@@TLPCHC@TLPCHC There's a few hundred for SACDs, mostly not mainstream. As for the DSD files( which are in the thousands) the player has to be able to play SACD in order to play at a DSD down loaded files anyways. SACDs which are in DSD. SACD owners usually don't just have a handful, they usually have a large collection. I own both the Panasonic and Sony models. They both have their positives and therefore are both good to have.
The Sony players have a problem with frizzing when playing 4k Blu-ray discs (perhaps it has to do with the upscaling); and a problem with heat as well.
I have this player, the best bang for the buck, the built quality and performance is second to none.
I don't know where to buy it!,
I saw the product on the Panasonic web site,
but in every store I asked for it, they said that it's unavailable.
Yes - I agree ! It is a superb player
physical media still rules for me plus I own the product. 😏😏
Yes - Yes it does. I love watching 4k Disks
This model supports HDR10+ and DV?
@@asafblasbergvideographer Yes, I think so. Maybe check the Panasonic web site for fully details
Another great unboxing! On a side note....you know those PSB speakers behind you look like gonk droids from starwars 😂
Ha Ha... In some ways you are right. They are 50year anniversary "retro" speakers that sound superb!
Great Player. Cool Unboxing.👍
Thanks you

I have the reavon 200 blu ray player and it excellent.
The Panasonic can handle HDR10+ whereas the REAVON can't;
in adition the REAVON it's good, but way more expensive!
The Reavon is a price / quality up
what is the newer model the UB9000GN1 or the PK1? great video
GN1
@@TLPCHC thank you
@@TLPCHC My PK1 is dated Jan 2024 so they must have just come out with yours. You wouldn't happen to know what DAC chips the PK1 has ?
GN1 is the latest release. We didn't see a "PK1" in N.Z, the older one is a GNK in N.Z.
Is the GN1 a different (and better) version than the EG1?

Yes - The 820 is good value. Watch out for its unboxing video (coming soon)

This is normal

I'm still using a HD-XE1 Toshiba HD DVD player, LG 3D cinema TV and Panasonic 3D Blu-ray and Freeview recorder 🤣
The Toshiba is almost a museum piece
just bought player for my home cinema , any advice in setting it up
Turn off HDR for non-HDR content and make sure you have a WireWorld Sphere HDMI (Or better)

No. Stop. an extremely large HDD is best handled by a NAS drive and your network, not a USB socket
me puzzled, what is different because you never said, is it SACD compatible if not why not?
No, I don't think it is an SACD player. The Reavon X200 is your player if you need everything on a silver disk to play
👍
Panasonic had an opportunity to upgrade and catch up with its competition and didn't. Too limiting in terms of format. A Reavon will play EVERYTHING region free.
I mean SERIOUSLY what's the "MK2" about?
Yes - But the Reavon is a price / quality step up from the Panasonic
You flicked that tiny piece from the box onto the floor 🙄
Yes - I did
Well build solid 👌 build like a TANK! Love it! Not those cheap plastic crap.
Thank you! Yes - Built like a Tank
Panasonic ub450 has same chip set only difference is HDR settings you can change on the 820
The 820 looks better and the video is more stable
See the UB820 unboxed here... ua-cam.com/video/ft994u6DMkY/v-deo.html
I don’t see any difference between the original and this MKII version.
The newer version just has a different DAC.

The DAC (for audio) had to change

How many SACD disks are available now? High Res downloads have killed that. DSD-512 etc
