I got the same result as you, and after about 5 atempts I gave up and took the spray nozzle off and used the the pump to supply the paint to my brush.
When I finished the job I cleaned up the sprayer and got my money back.
It did NOT do what it said on the box!

I purchased one today, and it had exactly the same problem. I took it straight back to b&q and then refunded my money. I purchased a wagner instead, that worked amazingly well.

I’ve just chucked one in the bin because the mixture is too cold. Phoned Ronseal who said they were getting lots of complaints. 8/4/23. You need to pump it harder than you were. 🙈🙈🙈🙈

I bought one, but due to what id read I used ptfe tape on all threads when putting it together, I was quite impressed no leaks and lots of pressure when pumped up, it maybe the paint is too thick for it, perhaps water it down a bit as said the filter maybe blocking up as a result.

I have one of these and have had zero issues. Its a dream to use. I use a paint mixer on an electric drill to give the paint a good mix prior to use. This makes the Fence Life paint thin down considerably. If using other paints a little H2O is an alternative way of thinning. Then using a large funnel it fills again without issue. Pumping was a little painful but once done. It sprayed like a trooper. I like you have used many types of sprayer and with knowledge gleaned over time I think this is better than some electric sprayers Ive used. I agree the filler is too small but with some thinking its easily to workout a funnel is whats needed. I would highly suggest this too anyone.

Simple but daft question did you mix your paint prior to filling the container?

I read your comments with great interest after watching the video, and considering your experience and apparent farm knowledge, decided to avoid this pump sprayer. I went to the video reviews because I am a skeptic of all these mini-sprayers and all similar junk stuff from China (not saying the Ronseal Pump Sprayer is). I had bought a battery powered Ronseal sprayer last year, and it wasn't good. Now I also noticed that the 'fence life' paint is a bit more gelatinous recently. So with all this in mind, and armed with some information from various videos, I decided to get the 450W Wagner Sprayer. I was even skeptical of this, but hey, I needed to do something. So anyway, it was better than I thought, no real problems, but it gobbles up the paint fairly rapidly. My only criticism is that the paint bowl resevoir is too small (1.4L), but for £80 it is what it is, it works, and despite the wind today, I got a few panels done. The advertising videos for Ronseal and Wagner, both show beautiful clean workmanship with smiling handymen, but in reality, it's never like that. The Wagner seems to be made in Germany, and when pouring in the gelatinous paint, one should use a sluce or funnel of some kind and dilute by 10%. That's when the 'funnel start! Ha.

I had the same problem if you loosen where the paint goes in till the hissing stops, tighten again then pump till the handle won’t go down anymore and it should work

Its one of the best things I've ever used for staining sheds and fences. I put about 400ml of warm water in mine and mixed the solution around. Went on a treat and didn't block once.
I also pumped mine a-lot more than you did on your video and the pressure was amazing. Regarding putting the liquid in the tiny hole, well, use a funnel as I did, works a treat and then just rinse off under a running tap or inside a bucket. Sorry that you had problems with your purchase.

I pumped ours until the handle would not physically go down any more. So did my husband. I am used to using all manner of electric and manual sprayers. I glad yours worked but with all due respect there is nowhere in the instructions that tell you to add warm water before use or any other work around. The point of this tool is for ease of use with their own branded and ready made 'sprayable' fence paint!
It does not say sprayable 'if' water is added etc etc. The instructions for the sprayer do not state to pre fill with water of any temperature. Like i said, i bought a wagner spray which worked beautifully without funnels, warm water, faffing about and pumping like ron Jeremy until limbs drop off!

Cleaned it out and weeks later did inside too stables too in a light colour. Game changer for us, Sorry it didn’t work for you x

Hi all I sprayed 24 fence panels back and front, the trick to using this is to take the green nozzle off every couple of fences and clean the small white filter in water it works perfectly then, if you don’t it comes out in a steam as per the comments I’ve seen.

    • @judithrule5419
      @judithrule5419  2 роки тому +3

Yes i did but whats the point in it being sprayable if its not actually sprayable and you have to faff watering it down. If its designed for that job why dont they just make it so it is diluted enough to do what it says on the tin 🤷

  • @ashleybagshaw6645

We recently bought one of these and it did a fence great but then it just constantly blocked up, it would work for about 10 seconds before it would clog up and i would strip it down again to unblock it and then it would block up again.
I tried thinning it down with water, buying a brand new paint tin (i used RONSEAL fence charcole paint&sprayable), pumping it until the release valve was hissing and all it did was block up.
I thought to myself with all the time im wasting unblocking it every minute i might aswel just hand paint it, so i did and threw this piece of crap in the bin, DO NOT WASTR YOUR MONEY

I wouldn't recommend the paint either. Great for putting color on your fence. But it will do absolutely nothing to protect it. Like all these so called top end paints they are simply a scam. The only thing that will actually protect your fence is a proper varnish or epoxy resin

With all due respect im not dim and have used many different devices in my lifetime. I have already mentioned i am familiar with all sorts of sprayers including agri chem sprayers. I understand and can competently use, disassemble, reassemble and clear a sprayer.
I spend hours cleaning nozzles etc on this one, including its little fine filter! It was still c**p!
Also the second the paint is opened to the fresh air it starts to thicken and develop a skin. Its then a battle to ensure no thinker bits get into the machine to clog up the tiny filter. Its impossible to navigate its use on a nice sunny day. Where it tries to dry and go rubbery in seconds. But then again who is going to paint their fence in winter or rain. Just stupid. They need to go back to the drawing board imho.

I bought one worked great to start off with then the filter just kept clogging up, I spent more time cleaning that, doing all the prep like masking of bits that I didn’t want to get the paint on, stirring the paint, it probably used up double the paint I would have used, went back to the old roller, took longer but saved me a whole lot of hassle.

Yes i emailed and spoke to then. I got a refund off amazon for one, as i bought 2, but couldn't find my receipt from wicks. I bought 80lts of fence treatment and wasted at least 5 trying to get the sprayers to work.
Ronseal sent me some vouchers for more paint from b&q.
So i lost £30+ on the stray and just ended up with vouchers to pick up more paint that i dont need. It would have been better if they had given me an open voucher for b&q as that would have paid for all the rollers and brushes i had to buy instead of the sprayer. I dont know how trading standards let them get away with still selling these things when thet arent fit for function.

@@matthewgriffiths7562 yes it was the sprayable. And in total it cost me the sprayer, the paint and other items. As for the sprayable paint, if it is sprayable why do they tell you that you may need to add extra water. Also the hole in the top of the sprayer is the size of a 50p that you are meant to pour into! Its a ridiculous design and many reviews have said the same. The paints too think, it makes a huge mess, gets everywhere, ruins gloves, clothes and the whole area you are trying to work. Its meant to make the job easier. Utter piece of rubbish.
Buy a wagner they are much better. I have painted the fence and masonry painted at least 40sq foot of building with the electric wagner and its still going strong. 👌

I spray and then go over with a brush because my panels are laticed and the brush cannot get in everywhere. It's like trying to paint 3 fences in the one position, so the sprayer helps get the awkward corners and grooves. Not the Ronseal though, I used the Wagner 450W. Not bad at all.
