Great video, Johnny sounds real to me and I liked listening to his stories. I'm 66 years old and lived my whole life in Wyoming and Montana. Spent a little time in Denver, Oklahoma, San Diego and Baja California way back in '72 after I got out of high school. It was quite a culture shock going from Bum Hump, Wyoming to some big cities and Mexico back in the day. What I'm getting at is I really don't know shit about the "Hoods," gangs or how things really work there other than what I see in movies or have read about and, I know a lot of that shit in the movies is BS, just like everything else that comes out of Hollywood is BS. Johnny seems like the real deal to though, he's been through, and lived through, the real shit! I really can't imagine how difficult and different live would be if I was born in the hood and into a gang like Johnny was. Honestly, it scares the shit out of me, and I ain't afraid of much and I ain't no pussy either! But, listening to Johnny talk about his life, his ideals and standards he set and stands behind, along with how he sees himself is very interesting and I must admit, admirable. I respect people like him, even though some may think he and his kind are well, not the best people. Johnny is upfront, real and is a "no BS type of guy." He gives back what he requires to get from others. Give him respect and he will respect you and I feel he is a very trustworthy person, nothing phony about him! I feel like if I ever meet this man we could become friends because, I like and respect this kind of person. Where they were born, their skin color or what they do for a living, does not matter to me. Even though I'm sure he sees things a lot different than I do, he has a completely different lifestyle than mine and, no doubt, he has had a much harder and rougher life than I have had, I still have to admire and respect him for his ideals and truthfulness. Who knows, maybe someday we may meet, if we do, I wouldn't be surprised to end up sitting at a bar table drinking a beer and bull shitting about life.
Supposedly sharky passed away, a few commenters mentioned it on the video with his eye leaking. I hope it isn't true but we can never really get confirmation unless it's through Mark or another skid row resident.

It's living beyond the ordinary day to day that many so called "live". There's a reason it's called being active. Sure it's not a great lifestyle but it certainly is a way of life much more robust than that of a mayonnaise eating 9-5 schmuck .
@@andrewhernandez1275 it's all in the eye of the beholder, right? Most of the mayonnaise eating 9-5 shmucks I've met seemed very content with their boring, vanilla lives. If someone doesn't like the way their life is going, you owe it to yourself to do whatever is within your means to do in order to change it. After watching many of Johnny's videos, I've come to the conclusion that he is content enough with how his life is going, you can't do the things he has done with a guilty conscience. Right or wrong, he had made it all make sense in his head. I've seen others do the typical "I hope he gets clean, I hope he gets off the streets". But I think after you've lived this type of lifestyle for 50 years, there's a good chance it will never change. Only he will grow older and older until the most action he can expect is his morning dump. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Multiple prison sentences didn't dissuade him, loved ones dying didn't dissuade him, what else could possibly affect him enough to where he would make any sort of sustainable and long lasting changes? I think this is the same Johnny from his youth, its Johnny now, and it will be the same Johnny whenever he takes his last breath.
I have so much LOVE for Johnny. Him telling his story and being detailed is SO IMPORTANT. I work for the a new station in FL and we dont report SHIT. I CRAVE real life stories. THANK YOU for telling your story. ITS SO IMPORTANT

He is such an amazing story teller, I feel like I am right there with him. Why does he always talk with his eyes closed? Thank you for this brief and very real look into your life.
My older homies pitched the life to me by telling me “you should never be afraid to walk around YOUR hood this is YOUR hood it doesn’t matter if there’s 1 of you and 5 of them this is YOURS” . I got caught walking down a rivals street which happened to be where their hang out was, I got approached and surrounded by about 20 of my enemies they told me to come in their backyard and let’s work this out. I walked back there with them when I got in the backyard more of their homies were standing back there with guns they were saying shit like “damn vato you’re about to die homie” I was just like “alright then” , they kinda stood me up against this fence and surrounded me they told me they would give me 14 secs to run (because I was from 14th street). I told them they knew I couldn’t and wouldn’t run because even if I got away I could not go back to my homies saying I ran away from them, these enemies of mine proceeded to tell me I was going to die and should take the chance to run, I kept telling them I’m not going to run they ended up letting me go that day solely because I had earned their respect, that didn’t mean our problems between them stopped that just meant I had earned their respect that day. I actually ended up catching one of those same guys months later walking down my street which was the hang out and I had all my homies there we did the same exact thing , we brought him into my backyard all my homies were threatening him I told them they had given me the chance to run and I didn’t the guy vouched for me saying yes they had (me) in their backyard bla bla bla so we offered him the same chance to run he didn’t take it so we returned the pass they had given me. Things were different when I was a kid I was probably the last generation to be raised by guys like this guy, in my hood we went to elementary school with the people that ended up becoming our enemies we all got along as little kids because we lived in the same general area but then by 7th grade things got different, we were then expected to choose sides. One of my best friends in the 4th grade became the leader of my biggest enemy group within 5 years, I was actually walking down the street one night in my hood probably after midnight by myself and all of a sudden a car came creeping up from behind me pulled up next to me lowered the window and the dudes asked me where I was from when I turned towards them they recognized me it was the guy I was friends with in the 4th grade my biggest enemy, he told me go home if they caught me back outside while they were creeping it was on, I got sent to a juvenile camp when I was 17 the news ended up interviewing me and I told them how this camp had changed and saved my life because I was weeks away from turning 18 which I never thought I’d see. I fully expected to die before I became an adult definitely never thought I’d see 21 living that life. I’m blessed to have turned 32 this year I lost a lot of friends along the way I wish they lived long enough to make some of the changes I did, I went from smoking blunts and drinking 40’s all day every day down for whatever to bring a person who obeys the laws and doesn’t drink or do any drugs.
A 00. I appreciate you, thank God I mad it I’m truly blessed, one of the saddest parts about it is the older I get the more I’m starting to forget some of the people that died along the way, it really bothers me that I’ve lost so many people that I’m able to forget some of them because most of them were very important to me, as I get older my life gets better for the most part and it’s just sad to me that a lot of the people I lost didn’t even get to see 21 they never got to leave the state they never got to have kids or a woman they loved , and the fact that I changed so much shows me that if some of my friends lived as long as I’ve been blessed with living they could have and probably would have made the same changes I did so it’s kinda sad being the last one around it’s lonely, survivors remorse is real.
This isn't a TV show , this isn't reality TV ... This is real life , understand that Soo many of us are born believing the way these people live is normal.

most older Gangsters will glorify their past lives in some way. it's a Pride/Ego thing that's a huge part of it all. the Drugs just add to the level of glorification at times.
Johnny or Mark if either of you read this; Maybe we can have a story of his worst moments in the gang life? I ask because there was a documentary about redemption iI watched. A Cali gangster is interviewed and he speaks about his life and how rough it was but the worst thing he did, according to him was brining his nephew into the cut. He later paid the price.
Very intelligent man. I have no clue what it would be like to live a life like he has but I learned alot listening to him. "The truth never changes". I wish you the best of luck in life.
Some straight up sage words there at the end. Respect. Johnny, yer a good dude. I dig that mentality of respect you gave to the guy who wouldn't run away from a fight in his own hood. Hi Mark @Soft White Underbelly this is off topic but just wanted to say, keep doing what you're doing and ignore the spiteful people! I was born and raised my entire life in Los Angeles 74, and I've lived all over, from Mid City, Silverlake, Korea Town, Dog Town, Hollywood, and beyond, all low-income areas. All my friends ended up either dying from drugs, gang violence, or ended up incarcerated. I grew up around gangs like Carnales 13, la mara salvatrucha, XV111, Crazy Riders, Easy Riders, White Fence, HPS13/Harpys 13, Asian Boyz, Armenian Power, and many many more and that doesn't even cover all the tag bangers Like CHB. Everything this guy says is legit. He is a real OG and that is demonstrated in his words and demeanor. LA is definitely not like it was back in the early '80s and '90s.
The fact that you said Armenian Power lol, wow there's a hood I haven't heard of in a lil while. Sometimes I miss the LA you're speaking about... From the 90s.. great times.
Yeah it just comes too show that, that lifestyle doesn’t bring you anything either die or go to prison. And if you don’t die then you go too prison and waste your life. And this dude ain’t stupid he could have done anything . He just grew up in a environment where the odds were against him.
Yeah thats right Johnny ... I love the stories there real life how it was back in the 80s and the 90s in the gang lifestyle... When he closes his eyes hes remembering how it really went down .. I feel that all the way..
As a side note... it's cool to see a comment like yours coming from someone who looks like you (assuming that's you in your thumbnail) because if I saw you in public I'd think to myself that "damn this fool looks like a straight vato Loco, don't lock eyes with him for too long". But then I see your comment, and how normal and human it sounds and I then I say any number of clichés in my head "don't judge a book by its cover" or "looks can be decieving" moral of the story is its a good reminder or self-check on myself to always look at everyone as a human being and treat them with love and kindness. Don't be handcuffed by prejudice and stereotype and possibly miss out on meeting cool people. Thought I'd share with you an observation I made in my head. Take it easy, bro.

Johnny's stories makes one hell of an audiobook
Love Johnny’s interviews, keep them coming please!
I watch all Johnny's vids start to finish... Keep em coming yo
The first person to do an interview with his eyes closed 🐐🐐🐐
Great to hear your stories again Johnny, stay safe!
What ever happened to sharky ?? You should do another interview with him... Dude had a rough story
Seen his eye leaking blood in the latest interview?
Supposedly sharky passed away, a few commenters mentioned it on the video with his eye leaking. I hope it isn't true but we can never really get confirmation unless it's through Mark or another skid row resident.
I can 200 percent see young teenagers of all backrounds listening to this G and taking heed to his experience/ advice ..he's real and raw .thank u fr!!! with love a recoverING addict ❤️ from NYC ❤️...

Johnny has the best interviews hands down...
Thank you Johnny, for speaking your truth. Keep telling your stories because I think it is also helping you. Thank you Mark, they need you and it shows especially during the follow ups.
Having to watch yo back everyday isnt living
It's also not healthy.
For 99.99 % of human history it has been tho not disagreeing don’t even believe the official narrative all the way but I’m just saying not having any natural predators isn’t the full life experience
Eating Burger King, working a cubicle for 40 years, and playing monopoly every single weekend is also no way to live.

“a lie changes, the truth doesnt”
Jesus loves you friend john 3:16
Shady Baby. I didn’t force you to read it.
You made it Brother God bless you Fuck that life
Riley Senn keep your head up and keep doinh what you’re doing Take care ✌🏻

Johnny. Thank you so much carnal for these interviews. Ive been watching them since last night
This isn't a TV show , this isn't reality TV ... This is real life , understand that Soo many of us are born believing the way these people live is normal.
And too stupid to evaluate life.
He was doing so well keeping his eyes open for the first 5-10mins
Love the interviews amigo! Keep it up
Love this guy, he’s the reason i got on this channel. Real guy been through a lot
I love johnny's interviews man and also sparky's they just got such interesting lives but johhny is so fucking smart bro he's just a sick ass foo I really want more interviews of him
Johnny is the most interesting guest. Ive watched all his videos and always want more!
Johnnys back 💪🏽 i definetly believe this guy has been thru and did and seen some crazy shit but i also think the heroin has made him a super legend in his own mind it was all downhill after his parents passed. Sad
Lloyd Christmas addicts like to glorify their horrible past to make themselves feel better
Truth
Iam Notafan I’m editing the word true out of my statement an addict is an addict lol true or not
most older Gangsters will glorify their past lives in some way. it's a Pride/Ego thing that's a huge part of it all. the Drugs just add to the level of glorification at times.
When does he say he’s a heroin addict?
I love this guy hands down the best his stories of street wars and his life is fire can't be faded or duplicated
Johnny or Mark if either of you read this;
Maybe we can have a story of his worst moments in the gang life? I ask because there was a documentary about redemption iI watched. A Cali gangster is interviewed and he speaks about his life and how rough it was but the worst thing he did, according to him was brining his nephew into the cut.
He later paid the price.
he has touched on that subject, you'll see once you watch the others Parts.
Very intelligent man. I have no clue what it would be like to live a life like he has but I learned alot listening to him. "The truth never changes". I wish you the best of luck in life.
Finally johnny is back!❤️😂
Yay it's Johnny! I'm so happy to see him again...Hi johnny from Texas
I fw these fr💯
Some straight up sage words there at the end. Respect. Johnny, yer a good dude. I dig that mentality of respect you gave to the guy who wouldn't run away from a fight in his own hood.
Just getting into this series of videos. Thanks Mark. Your channel continues to be an inspiring facet of my reality. You're always opening doors in my mind. Mad respect for that as well
✌️👈
I grew up with tons of these characters in Pomona. I stayed away and fished at the lakes and rivers in SoCal but “kept it cool” with them.
As a white boy from Downey/Norwalk, I feel you on that. Cool with most of em, never really associated with em. But I remember those days.
Please get this guy on again, he is so interesting in so many ways.
I dont think he realizes that the new generations dresses like that because it's the trend it's the new style older generations dressed a certain way too

@@ChristianBaleNutjob just stop
@@ChristianBaleNutjob just so random and full of insecure projection. Clearly you feel some type of way about white people and I feel sorry for you. Nobody chooses their skin color, not to mention this world is filled with white people (and many other skin colors) so you should figure that out soon or else you're life is gonna be full of disappointment and jealousy.
This dude is so legit. You can tell just by the way he describes things, that he ain't blowing sunshine up anyone's ass. I've got no reason to doubt the validity of any of his stories. The shit he's been through and things he's seen, regardless of the legal or moral implications, really display the cut of his jib. Johnny is wise beyond many men's years. Stay up my dude. Best wishes to you.
this dude just interviewed himself and it worked fine
Hi Mark @Soft White Underbelly this is off topic but just wanted to say, keep doing what you're doing and ignore the spiteful people! Before this channel, I used to see drug addicts, gang members prostitutes etc as just what they were - failing to realise everyone has a story! This channel has opened my eyes to a lot - to be more compassionate and less judgmental. Thank you!
I see people take your videos and talk about it on their channel and then all the hateful comments that come with it - Ignore them! Baffles me why they watch in the first place.
I know you help a lot of these people financially too - blessings!
PS - Say hi to my favourite girl Aleesha when you see her 😊
T Sho Thank you for this comment, T Sho. I truly appreciate viewers like you. Look for a long interview with Alisha this weekend. Mark
Some men are born into greatness, others have it thrusted upon them
I was born and raised my entire life in Los Angeles 74, and I've lived all over, from Mid City, Silverlake, Korea Town, Dog Town, Hollywood, and beyond, all low-income areas.
Even though it's much safer now, that can still be debated
I want to see more videos with him in it! He’s definitely my favorite. Everything he says I can picture it as if I was there.
U should hear my story's girl. I just finished doing 10 yrs. This dude Casper tripping he's far from keeping it real.

I love hearing this guy talk Johnny real good stories you can hear the realness
Living that lifestyle must have been exhausting... But now he’s aging with nothing to show for it, sadly.
Truth.
Actually you clearly learned NOTHING...go back under the ROCK
Yeah it just comes too show that, that lifestyle doesn’t bring you anything either die or go to prison. And if you don’t die then you go too prison and waste your life. And this dude ain’t stupid he could have done anything . He just grew up in a environment where the odds were against him.
True this guy wasted most of his life
Preciosaaaa
My Dog Johnny!✊🏾 Real OG. One of my fav interviewers on this channel
