I hope teens and college students watch your videos forever and every year so that you can get that bag, you deserve it IDK how many careers you have saved
yep college is about pumping people out and hoping they teach themselves or they fail to retake. my ochem professor makes 150k a year and is one of the worse professor I have had yet.
@@89TNash When I took calc 4 class, the prof was polish guy with a very thick polish accent. From the day1 90% of class started complaining about prof that they can’t understand anything. In the end those 90% ended up with an avg D, majority failing, while the rest got A. Thing is, for those 10% it was a breeze because they focused on learning. So in the end who cares if he’s earning 150k, you’re paying a lot more, so why not enjoy the process and focus on learning and not on teaching style, are you afraid its going to toughen you up? You learn to accept adversity, whether it be in teaching style or anything, you’ll have a much easier time, adapt easily, and also enjoy the process. But I can understand your pain bro, just suck it up and focus on the bigger picture, i mean it is your money at the end of the day 🤷♂️
Great video! Thank you for that. Question: are there nuclei that flip to B-spinstate when subjected to a magnetic field, without the need for RF energy?
Just a wild guess, but I think they only do when the radio-frequency hits them. Atoms in general can only absorb discrete packets of energy, so the nuclei can only flip entirely or not at all (and not, say, half way). If they flip, they have higher energy than the unflipped ones, and want to go back to the lower level of energy (where they are aligned with the external B) and by doing so they release the same radio-frequency they had absorbed. The NMR apparatus registers this last radio-frequency, which is different for every element
Note: The nucleus only possesses overall ‘spin’ if only the NUCLEON number is odd. If both the proton number and neutron number are odd, the nucleon number will be even and the nucleus cannot be used for NMR. Great video nonetheless. Thanks.
Also you write a 11T field. That's very high for an MRI but is that a practical level for a momentary electromagnet in just spectroscopy? or is that just an arbitrary value for the calculation.
Wow. Most Indian videos confused me. Urs is a good one Can anyone answer me why does proton acquire with or against the magnetic field direction? I mean what is the reason for attaining alpha or beta?
Hello everyone! I have a problem with interpretation of nmr spectrum. I think I use coupling constant incorrectly. How indicate organic structure coresponding by using nmr spectrum?
I ran an NMR spectrometer 20 years ago...... main thing about it is the constant fear it might leak it's liquids that should be gases......I still don't quite get what they do.......but it's powerful magic that kills mechanical watches
You have it wrong about the magnetic property of the nucleus, is not because of the motion. The nucleus is not moving has the electrons do. Is given precisely by the property of the spin itself, up and down cancelled each other. Odd numbers give magnetic moment.
I hate this so much. I was doing *so well* in my Organic Chem class this semester...until this NMR mess came along. Now my A is probably gone. Still going to need to figure it out over the summer. I have to take the second level of ochem next semester and I'm sure it won't be kind enough to never remind me this exists.
saying that the mass number being odd is a little misleading. the number of protons and the number of neutrons may both be odd then the mass number will be even

they both deserved to be paid in my opinion

I have been confused about this topic for days. Your explanation and diagrams are so great that I finally understand NMR. Thank you
Basic introduction? More like “Beautiful instruction!” 👍
you are amazing. my 30 pages of reading and professor could never.
I thought I'd never understand this- you made it SO simple. Thank youuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!

Great explanation! Thanks!
Nice video and well though out.
Do you think you could do more videos on NMR spectroscopy - videos on the magnetogyric ratio, vector model, fourier transform NMR and so on?
In 8 minutes you explained what the teacher couldn't in half a year

The GOAT. !
Why does some of the nuclei move in a direction opposite to that of the applied magnetic field?
Just a wild guess, but I think they only do when the radio-frequency hits them. Atoms in general can only absorb discrete packets of energy, so the nuclei can only flip entirely or not at all (and not, say, half way). If they flip, they have higher energy than the unflipped ones, and want to go back to the lower level of energy (where they are aligned with the external B) and by doing so they release the same radio-frequency they had absorbed. Very useful. Thanks a lot
thank you for these
Greate explanation! Thank you very much! Is there a formula for calculating gamma as well?
Thank you alot
Fan of yours

Great video nonetheless. Thanks.
Sorry but this is not right. If both proton and neutron number is odd, the nucleus may posses a whole integer spin eg 14N or 2H
Where did you get that gamma? Its constant or what?
Can deuterium show spectroscopy? I mean it has just 1 proton and 1 neutron, so mass is 2 but there is only 1 proton!!
So at 8:54 you got gamma, but I am confused on where you are getting it from
Liked the video without even watching it lmao
Also you write a 11T field. That's very high for an MRI but is that a practical level for a momentary electromagnet in just spectroscopy? or is that just an arbitrary value for the calculation.
Wow. Most Indian videos confused me. Urs is a good one
Can anyone answer me why does proton acquire with or against the magnetic field direction? I mean what is the reason for attaining alpha or beta?
I think it's because they're at different energy levels- one is weak enough to have the spin flipped by magnetic field and the other is not.
Also the local magnetic field
How can a proton in the nucleus spin? Doesn't protons and neutrons are held together in the nucleus...?How could a proton see spin about is axis?

How do we know these proteins have an odd number of protons or neutrons?
Are you asking how many protons / neutrons in a given nucleus?
Raghu A I think that’s what I was asking, haha
Now that it’s four months old I’m not really sure but that seems to make sense.
