Almost 22 minutes into the game and I was impressed with this game, especially with the soundtrack for each boss. I didn't expect so much and my jaw dropped to the floor. Congratulations to whoever made the game and whoever made the game's soundtracks. For me a masterpiece.
This game actually looks like it does the metroidvania boss thing pretty well! Actual changes in the boss attacks, unlike 99% of them where the boss is just a wall of hp, and hopes you screw up the pattern, or get bored of fighting, after wailing on them for a half hour.
Also, the more I think of it the better the boss fights get in terms of design. Take The Final Performance for example: you can feel the story behind, how the fight tells it. Full of small details that reinforce it more like how the performer bows when parried to give us the center stage. The patterns are elegant and flowy and half of the time not targeted at us, we're just in the way. It's a dance off, not a fight, and it's beautiful. Shidra. We can feel his frustration and how hard he tries despite his "old age". He hits hard and crafts his attacks because this is his profession. We start off with him trying to outsmart us and give him the best advantage he could get. Phase 2 is literally him fighting till his end. He gets slow and tired, but his fighting spirit is still intact. Beating him is destroying the spine of the world. Even farther: every time we beat a boss there are less enemies in the world and the layout change a little. Our actions have consequences. Shidra doesn't call us "Akhlan" (Hebrew for "Eater") for nothing, we come, eat and go. We destroy everything and there is less of it the more we eat... Each boss fight, as stupid as they looks, have a purpose for the big picture: we eat EVERYTHING, with no exceptions.
I feel sad for the Amalgam, it was just chilling and then got harassed, basically blinded and killed by the same guy that then completely blinded it and absorbed its eye
Looks like Glaves, the Fists and Swords are the best choice as far as weapons go also I just love how Shidra uses all the objects and artifacts he has accumulated over time in his battle
"Harmless Rockgiant" followed by "Griefing Rockgiant"? Even without playing this game can I see a story behind this where the 2nd Rockgiant is mourning the death of his friend at your hand... Even the music is kinda sad in that regard, emphasizing what loss he possibly goes through.
Yeah all his little rock buddies. I wonder if he is the same one that is stuck in the wall/floor area in that little zone that opens up after you defeat the mother's.
Kind of surprised you didn't pull on the Jawcrab and Vulture attacks. It's so satisfying shutting down Jawcrab by pulling and absorbing 90% of his attacks. (Also, I picked up this game after watching the vid and am having a pretty fun time; thanks for bringing it to my attention!)
I think Shapely Fidus is a Dark Souls homage. Just look at everything about the fight. The arena, his introduction, his moveset, his theme. It all screams "Dark Souls."
This whole game screams Dark Souls. It's a soulslike and that's clear from the beginning. However, it makes itself its own thing and creates a brutal yet joyous experience. Also, Shapely Fidus is a girl. You can see it in her figure.

Not a lot of good it’ll do you now but you can counter the dance partner in the Final Performance when she’s not red. Might be easier than dodging in some moments. Great vid
So I got a question, why does six of the bosses (such as the Harmless Rockgiant, the Grieving Rockgiant, the Desert Watcher, the Jawstag, the Jawcrab and the Artisan of Flesh) have the color white for the first halve of the outline for their health bars, and have four bare segments in the first halve the health bares, and yet the rest of the seven bosses don't?
Red healthbar indicates that you can parry and absorb certain attacks of the bosses. White bar means you can only parry, but won't be able to absorb attacks.
