I almost bought that car a few years ago in PA. With the 4:10’s the car ripped and screamed! It had the 289 in it when I drove it. From my understanding, the car was raced hard back in the day.
@@travis3799 oh yeah it’s been driven hard and put away wet for sure. The 289 was long gone by the time I bought it. It came with a non roller 302 and I Put a different 302 in it and now it’s back rippin. I bought it with a 4.30 gear in it and it knocks the tires of pretty easily 1-2nd lol
Looks like it been through it can’t wait to see how it looks finished good luck on your build been doing mine for 3 years now I have an 89 gt doing a cobra clone with cobra intake heads and cam and 98 5 lug still am ways to go before I finish
It makes me rather sad that someone did all this to a Foxbody, especially a T-top car. You have a very good spirit about the matter and I wish you great success. One thing is for sure, there are many opportunities here for you to experience the satisfaction of fixing it up on you own. Take pictures of it now and along the way and you can track just how far you take it!
Nice Foxbody Mustang! I may be a little bias as I have a 85 white T-Top myself. What you showed in the video is a great base start for a project car. All of the "damage" the previous owner/s have done to it can be easily reversed as I didn't see any major cutting or irreversible hackery. The great part of owning a Foxbody is the community around it. And like you said, its not a perfect, off the showroom car so have some fun with it.
Thanks! And sweet! Yeah that’s what the plan is, everything is fixable/ reversible and it’ll be a blank canvas. Youre right about that, already joined a couple Groups on Facebook and it’s very helpful 👍
Shame the original roller block is long gone. I have no idea why anyone would replace that with a 289. My 85 block with B303 cam and twisted wedge heads ripped back in the day.
Poor Fox body. The thing is tough, it’s saveable but you gotta give it the time it deserves. T-Top 85 is desirable , just not like that. Soooo many parts out there to return it to stock. It’s your car to enjoy it the way you want
Not sure you have an actual GT car there; could be a 4 cylinder car someone tried to GT up. In the end doesn't matter, you got plenty to fix and sort out as it is, enjoy. I had a 84' GT with T-tops back in 87', 85's are probably my favorite Fox Body era cars.
Good luck on that maybe you should do the best you can sell it and find something else. There are more out there. You just gotta be patient and keep looking. Lotta work has to go into that thing.
Building a TTOP car is not a smart move . The frame will twist just enough even after tied down . The TTops will come flying out on a nice launch or shift . Take it from somoene who had this exact car . Ive had it happen 2x now once in a 85 once in a 88. Whats with the 289 on the hood ? U need a new dash and new 85 front bumper cover. Hope u got that thing cheap . I wouldnt even have gave a 500$ for it . That thing is beat tf down and ready for scrap
This just makes my head hurt. T-top Mustang is not a very common car to find and someone totally destroyed it. 🙄 I would give it a merciful end and send it to the junkyard. But if you have the money, I would totally gut everything out, interior, engine, transmission and scrap it all. Find a good 302 and trans and start with that. The rest of it, you'll be LMR's most prized customer with all the purchases you will making to bring this car back to glory
Build it your way and have fun. Great to see your ideas for giving this car a new life. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the love! Thats the plan, see how much fun we can have with what we have!
Best wishes as you start on this journey . It looks like a very involved project.
@@J45yu456 thank you it is for sure! Making good progress so far though🤙

I ordered an 85, but it took forever, so I canceled and bought an 86 LX with the GT options
Looks like a great project. Just subbed
A project indeed! Thanks we appreciate it!
Holllla🎉 it’s going places!! I’ll be sure of that🤣😂

Damn I thought I bought a project! It's cool though
They are all projects even when they are mint lol thanks!
Why can't I comment that I have seats for sale on eBay?????
Not even allowed to put my username???
Can't even post the item number??? Who is the Communist POS deleting everything?

Too late, already into it and havin fun!
85 wiring is easy
Just rip it all out about 70% is useless
I got that hint when I saw only about two wires were even hooked up in the original harness and it runs and drives and lights now all work 😂

Well I’m here to save it, revive it, and then some would argue… ruin it some more 😂
