Yeah, and you don’t have to worry about whether your watch connected to the Fort Collins signal or not, depending on where you set it in your home. Just an extra headache that you don’t need, especially when everyone already has atomic on their smart phone. You always have a reference clock on you if you want to recalibrate every now and then.
I already own the 5600, and was thinking about "upgrading" to 5610. However...after watching this I'm going to stick with what I've got. The light is brighter and longer on the 5600 and it retains the time when going through the other modes. It also keeps nearly perfect time although it's rated at +/- 15 sec per month. Also, if you don't use the alarm and light too often these batteries can go for 4-5 years. Lastly, the atomic clock in Denver may be removed soon, rendering the atomic feature useless anyway. Compare the price and see what works best for you.
Only solar powered watches have power saving feature because they can understand if they are in the dark with their solar panel. Battery watches would require a separate sensor for that, which is not really reasonable for their price.
rechargeable battery will not last forever and it will need replacing too. it's good that the power saving mode is there to reduce the recharge cycle of the battery. one more thing it's also useful if you don't use and expose the watch to light source regularly.
I went with the DW 5600. It looks cleaner.Less writing on the case and less notifications on the screen. Also the dot matrix numbers of the date seems out of place next to the other 7 segment numbers. Plus the light stays on longer. Also not a fan of the red line around the display either. Too bad, as the solar charging and the radio signal setting is still nice to have.
The numbers on the 5610 look bigger, bolder, and easier to read. I also heard it's a slightly slimmer watch, is that true? (Maybe you mentioned both things in your review, I skimmed through a few parts.

Pretty much the same. The loudest square I have is my GW-B5600, the most silent is the GMW-B5000 (basically any full metal square). The GW-M5610 and DW-5600 are somewhere in between those.
@@DerPafferfish Thank you for the feedback. Die 5600 hat 2 Vorteile. 1. Die Beleuchtung ist ca 1sec länger. 2. Man kann den Timer auf 1sec genau stellen, zb 1.30min. Bei der 5610 gehen leider nur volle Minuten, 1.00min oder dann halt 2.00min. The 5610 looks noticeably easier to read than the 5600. THAT is the only reason why I'd go with the 5610.
IMPORTANT QUESTION: Which one has the louder alarm, or are they both the same volume?
Pretty much the same. The loudest square I have is my GW-B5600, the most silent is the GMW-B5000 (basically any full metal square). The GW-M5610 and DW-5600 are somewhere in between those.
@@DerPafferfish Thank you for the feedback. I might just end up going with the Timex 41mm Expedition Chrono Alarm Timer since I read the alarm is noticeably louder than Casio's and the digital display is larger and easier to read. The downside is that the Casio is more water resistant and shock resistant. But I just need something inexpensive for traveling through SE Asia for a month.
@jrad044 Oddly, my golden 35th anniversary GMW-B5000 is even more quiet than my silver steel one.
Hola. Cuál me recomiendas?.
It's confused 😕 me more which is which should I buy 😭
The grandson of the original g shock from 1980s.
Die 5600 hat 2 Vorteile. 1. Die Beleuchtung ist ca 1sec länger. 2.
If power save is on will it wake up at night to sync ? Thanks
No it doesn't.
Yes. It will.
@@Paulfred No it doesn't! It only does that during the first 6 days or so when only the screen is deactivated. But as soon as goes into the entire power save is doesn't sync anymore.
@@freund333 I own 4 solar/atomic G’s that I keep in power save mode that all Sync properly even when I keep them stored in a watch case. They don’t always sync successfully, however. Maybe that is what you were experiencing.
@@Paulfred Sorry sir but you are wrong. Maybe your watches still get enough light in the case i don't know. But it even says in the manual that when the power saving function is activated after 6-7 days in the dark the auto receive, beeper tone, illumination and display are disabled.
Very good review, focused on what is best on each side. I loved. Two questions, is the alarm sound eaqually in terms os loudness ? And the buttons, are both need same force to press? I didnt see nothing about it on youtube.
As far as i know the alarm is a bit more quiet on the 5610. I think there also was a difference with the buttons but i don't remember what it was. But i'm sure there are infos about it on the internet.
@@freund333 Please: do you know how long is the alarm? I bought another model and it is just 10 seconds... Thanks!
Both great watches. I chose the 5600 because the time display is on the countdown timer and stopwatch modes.
Both of the models you're holding are tough solar.
The font looks thicker on 5610 compared to 5600.
Really interesting and well done review !! Thanks
Are the band size the same?
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing
Are they the same size?
Buy both and wear one on each wrist lol
@Siebenstern 😂

Press and hold the Mode button.
I got it thanks🙂
I actually received the item from amazon last night so im kinda sort of experimenting while watching different reviews on this watch's model. thank you for the timely response. God bless!
For the size? Thank you !
Wonderful review. Thank you.
My opinion it makes better is solar power and you don't have to worry about changing batteries it all about that
