For some of us Shave and a Haircut definitely has the same currency - but then again we still use Confederate currency........ When I was a child it seemed that every up-tempo number on the Opry ended with Shave and a Haircut. Whether it's mere nostalgia or the wisdom of discerning judgment, I lament that loss.
Traditional shave and.a.hair cut just fine! These tunes are passed down. They are family history. Any alcolhol or drugs just ruin the mind and body and cause the loss of these preciuous tunes. You have to think in order to play an instrument. Thank you for these vlassic bluegrass tunes.
Interesting and helpful video. I'm only a year and a half into fiddle, reviving (in retirement) my days as a Music student in university, after a long career with no connection to music. I'm practicing variations on Cripple Creek in G cross-tuning (a la David Bragger) and then back to Standard. If the polls are still open, the "shave and a haircut" tag makes me cringe. Just kinda dopey - and I'm 70yo.

Glad you enjoyed this. It's interesting that we strive for authenticity, but reject some stylistic elements which undoubtedly are authentic!
