I am writing this all out! Thank you - EXCELLENT!!! WE have been trying to get some kind of fiddle part to our banjo players solo, when his wife is gone and can't do her LEARNED part. Slowing it down, but especially showing us the written music when we are trained readers is PRICELESS - please send me a a PDF because our poor Old Time Fiddlers have to put up with my henscratching music notes!
Loved your video! I looked for some instructional videos on foggy mountain breakdown a few years ago and only found one. Thankyou for posting your video and playing the 4 different versions.
Thanks Chris! I have never seriously thought about picking up a viola, and l laughed at the humorous humility you have in this video, and now I may just steal the kid’s to see if l can make her eyes roll right out of her head! Just kidding, I liked the first version , you made it seem less than impossible to learn for most, and it became clear I don’t know diddly about the fiddle the further I got, I see I should probably start with ‘Mary had a Little Lamb “ first😁
Like your channel. I’m a multi instrument player, but the fiddle just never clicked with me.EDIT: there’s a version from 1948 from Flatts and Scruggs floating around UA-cam.
Thank you! This is a clsssic for sure. Bill Monroe wrote Bluegrass Breakdown with only the F chord instead of the Em. Earl kind of nicked that tune from Bill seems like. Also, I wish all you had to do was learn a tune and then play it fast. Unfortunately, seems like you have to also learn it fast. Maybe that’s obvious, I just wish it were easier. Thanks again!

Glad you enjoyed this!
Remember that Earl wrote bluegrass breakdown and Bill didn’t give him credit, so Earl technically didn’t steal it. He just re-arranged it.
@@jackvalentine566 Thanks for the clarification. Shouldn’t have assumed Bill wrote it. I sit corrected. 🙂
@@64bluegrass no problem! Have a great day!
"If you enjoyed that then you're absolutely mad" - or you are happy to see you're not the only one who struggles with that.
Unlike many teachers I am happy to point out my weaknesses and failings!
Struggle is not a weakness or a failing.
how much would a a decent fiddle cost
Anything from £150, for a new Chinese one, to tens of thousands. It depends what you call decent.
