Today, DJ Peach Cobbler begins to recount the story of Persia, the successor kingdoms, Rome, and Parthia. This was originally gonna be one part but I decided I wanted people to click on it. This video covers Alexander's conquests, the history of the fertile crescent, the successor kingdoms, Sulla's civil war, the Parthian civil war between Orodes and Mithridates, and the beginnings of the first triumvirate.
The next video will cover Julius Caesar's rise to power, and the invasion of Parthia led by Crassus.
Please check out my thumbnail artist's twitter: twitter.com/thigikna
Part Two on Monday, promise. It's already filmed and partially edited. Not gonna do the whole book review thing yet (that'll be part two) but here's what I read for this video:
Crassus by Peter Stothard
Rome's Wars in Parthia by Rose Mary Sheldon
Rome & Parthia: Empires at War by Gareth C. Sampson
Life of Crassus by Plutarch
You are the Goat!
what brand chalk do you eat
Thank you.
Great job, looking forward to that part 2, daddy cobbler
Wait did you unlist the wierd stream of you ranting about... idk everything with the logic of a drunk man
All of us immediately clicking on a dj peach cobbler vid as if we’re cokeheads licking out a bag
That is what we are
I gotta get my fix
I know what I am
Yes but replace coke with chalk
As a rock climber, I swear the bag is full of chalk and no other white powders
“One party hates poor people, the other also hates poor people, but understands the benefit of lying”
As an American, too relatable.
This feels like witnessing history. I don't mean Rome and Persia, I'm talking about a young creative mind who's going to go very, very far if he keeps developing this brand of madness.
He already is! Our boi is far gone...
I'm in for the ride. Let's see how deep this rabbit hole of madness goes.
EXACTLY!!! That's what we're here for, to witness a mind flourish. To witness him take apart the past ('for no reason') and not even need to juxtapose it to our modern climate is phenomenal. and he loves Fembussy so bless up!!
This crazy train is going off the rails and Im all in for it
Modern Socrates in the making indeed.
The name Persia invokes a thousand images in our minds... Parthia invokes an image of Mike Tyson saying "Persia"
Lol

@@KoroushRPbut were not from persis

The scariest words you could tell a roman are: "Somehow, Hannibal has returned."
No it's *Gauls*.
It's always Gauls.
Strange that Cannae is so well remembered and Arausio is completely forgotten.
Caesar: what that's? is it suppose to be important
Aurelian, Belisarius: You were strong little Hannibal, but not strong enough
Cobbler has 356K subscribers, his mother takes up 2.5% of said subscribers, so we can confidently say that Cobblers mother has the same weight as 8900 people. the average person in the US weighs around 150 lbs, making Cobblers mother an extraordinary 1,335,000lbs. Smash

Sir Cobbler, gradually, becoming that crazy uncle who might teach your kids some weird ass history if they'll hang out with him for too long. They also might start hating the feds. But at least they'll learn how to hunt and skin a deer. And possibly a wendigo. Who is disguised as a fed.
I hope he informs kids that yes, humans can eat deer meat but never, ever should humans eat wendigo meat

Your skits where the Romans are talking to other people are such good characterizations of the way Roman arrogance works. I especially liked the "Wait... are you Hannibal?" bit.
Honestly this series has inspired me to take a much deeper dive into Roman and Greek history. I’m going to be taking Ancient Greek and Roman Studies in university. I will either see you in 4 years in a museum, or a Starbucks
As a Scandinavian Studies hopeful studying Norwegian and Finnish history, language, music, and dance
Yeah, i feel ya
I only got inspired to eat chalk and go fu
Lol why not a deep dive into Persian history? Euromindset af
Lol good thing I was raised Greek, wich inadvertantly gives most Greeks growing up a partial classical antiquity education by default.
@@PejmanMan I'm interested in Persian history and culture too. I'm fascinated about tribes in the mountains of Asia, As well as ancient Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indochinese, Indian, North American tribes and other cultures in Europe outside of Greece and Rome. Not everything is racism or a euromindset, sometimes people just like other topics more than others.
I can't decide if Cobbler is drifting further into unhinged madness or is just gradually revealing his real self :D Really appreciate your content man, thank you for making these great videos on history!
The two are not mutually exclusive.

Your time as a History Teacher has come, Brother. You have the talent, you have the library (Internet), and you have the students (again, the Internet). I wish I had a history teacher like you when I was in school. It would have made things much more enjoyable and memorable. Thanks, can't wait for Monday!
@Epoxygleu Should've taken AP History, its pretty dope
"You consider yourselfs people?"
I just love how he nailed Roman arrogance with one simple question.
Cobbler is unironically one of my favorite you tubers that I never miss a video from.
Perfect! A new high production/educational shitpost from my favorite Femboy. Day saved!
Teaching history like its video game lore make it's so interesting. You're videos are so freaking fun, interesting, and informative. Excited for monday!
Oh man this comment is ironic.

Thank you dessert of British origin which is also regularly made throughout the United States of American, in this case off the variety made using the drupe fruit (or stone fruit) commonly known as peach, for delivering such content through the interconnected internet and showing it to me through the display on this device which can be referred to as a “beat up crappy old iPad”
First couple seconds and he's blending up chalk. This is why you're my favorite content creator haha
Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed, this one was a pain but I’m happy with how it turned out
So how many parts to this series are you going to make? I was under the impression it would be three: Barbarians & Carthage, Greece, and Egypt.
But now you've come up with two more -- Israel and Persia -- just out of nowhere.
So what does your road map for the Rome series actually look like?

Persia is so massively underrated.
The fact that it is one of two great historical empires, alongside China, to still remain independent to this day is a massive achievement on its own
Dats right! I always play shanameh in Civilization
Im a simple man, I see DJ Cobbler upload a video, I click it
That is very true
I feel like at this point, we're watching Cobbler mostly if not completely lose his mind while talking about things he's interested in, and I, for one, am certainly here for it all the way
You have to talk about the parthian Envoys response to Crassus at Carrhae:
Asked by the Parthian ambassador the reason for this unprovoked war, Crassus boasted that he would tell him in Seleucia, the western capital of the empire, to which the envoy "burst out laughing and said, pointing to the palm of his upturned hand: 'O Crassus, hair will grow there before thou shalt see Seleucia'"
The envoys line is still an idiom/phrase used in modern persian to this day!!!
POV: When man goes broke getting some type of college degree, is reduced to explaining the basics of civilization to a audience of people who just come for funny chalk jokes and existential horror
Don’t forget the racial slurs . Thats why I’m here anyways
Glorious day, yet a sad one too. Awesome because my DJ peach cobbler video addiction is fullfilled with a new video. Sad because when im finished, i shall return to that never place that engulfs my spirit chest, of no more DJ peach cobbler videos. I rest now with the endless abyss, stuntin like my daddy.
I really like the new map infographics. Helps so much for someone like me who doesn't know anything about this age
Dr. Cobb I cannot express to you how much I enjoy your lectures. Your telling and analyzation of historical events told with crude humor has been incredibly valuable to my education. I can’t wait for the next class!
Liked that one leaf blowing in the wind in the animation at 17 min. Really brings life into the scene!
I watched this video yesterday, slept a full 11 hours and STILL came back to comment how fucking amazing the line "This is a tale of two empires, the border which they shared, and the world they couldn't" is. It has replayed in my mind since then.
There are no reply’s because, how can you improve on perfection?
I wanna see you talk about Persia more. Your unique style and well researched videos are a gift and I look forward to seeing you hone your craft.
13:36 Missed the chance to say “Macedon was now Mace-gone.”

I hope there'll be a sequel on the Sassanian Empire. I think its one of the most interesting Empires and time period around but it doesnt really get talked about very often.

14:57 oh man, this king of the hill spoof, thank you, this made my day. I want to cry of laughter but i'm at work so it just looks like i'm crying, oof, wholesome meme.
Very informative as always, also the madness in your eyes really brings them to life.
Looking at the comments, I see so many men and women of culture, philosophers each and everyone of you. Always looking for deeper insight and the true meaning of the world we live in.
We must protect this man DJ Peach Cobbler, I need more content.
Wake up babe, new DJ Peach Cobbler history lesson just dropped! 🎉❤
If Cobbler keeps this up he could have a Netflix show, only without all the children
When DJ commits whatever atrocious act that will lead to multiple laws being named after him, these videos will be a cold, hard lesson for the world at large.
Because when he ground up chalk and turned it into a drink, we stood by and did nothing.
I think this video finally made it clear to me that Cobbler has become my favorite youtuber by a landslide
I have never been so horrified and fascinated at the same time as when this man started talking about complex relationships between ancient cultures while drinking a chalk smoothie
I feel your descent into madness is all but complete at this point. Also, very fun and educational.
Cobbler is proof that good content and insanity is all you need to have an audience.
Destined for self immolation via idea discourse and depression, ahead of his time, yet too antiquated. The madness of true genius.
I need to study it's habits (djpc) it's like gazing into the abyss
I have never before felt fear like I did when he started to blend and drink the chalk
I am back to fall asleep to the soothing sounds of this creature
LET'S FUCKING GOO MY FAVOURITE FED IS BACK
Ik this is an old video, but I recently came across DJ's content so it's new to me lmao. Anyway, everyone commenting on how he's the "unhinged uncle" is absolutely hilarious to me because he reminded me of my Uncle who was indeed unhinged and liked talking about history. It's also very comforting because of this, my uncle was the closest thing I had to a dad so DJ's content makes me genuinely feel like my uncle is still around
Amazing video! I hope you talk about the Sassanids in part 2
Hollo cobbler
I live in Shiraz which is about two hours away from "Persepolis", Just thought it would be fun for you to know that you have some subscribers from here too... Good video
I watch lots of historical youtube videos, and yours are some of the most entertaining and informative. And I can't say I expected to say that to a channel I originally subbed to for videogame content...
23:34 parthians had a senate called the anjoman e Mehestan (Mehestan Assembly ) from what I have read it was a senate where the most powerful man gathered (including the emperor ) and decided really important matters (declaring war selecting the next emperor etc) and the reason that we dont know much about pre islam persia is that most of the books where burned by the invading arabs(this is one of the reasons persian hate arab people)
Listening to this man while I sleep will either make me smarter or make me clinically insane
The Ted kazynski special both at the same time
Fun fact, Parthians claimed ancestry from Achaemenids, Cyrus the great and Persians and wanted to reestablish the Persian Achaemenid empire.

I feel privileged to be here a witness to a crazy history teacher drinking call water while wearing the Taxi Driver coat.

You joke about the tinge of madness in your eyes but I can genuinely see it
28:38 “Crassus needed a charismatic populares.”
I think we all knew where that was going.
I wish the Persian Sassanids and Romans still existed. Imagine Romans and Persians fighting in space.
What interesting channel have I stumbled upon.
Once you finish up the roman history can you possibly do the Byzantine empire?
This morning i was thinking "wow it's been a while since cobbler dropped a video"
I think i speak for all cobbler bois when i say that chalk eating should be mandatory for all videos

Had the privilege of spending quality time with one a few years back in oia. Good times.
Cobbler, I can not stress enough how much I cherish your history videos. They're actually fucking amazing. I love your other videos but god if these ain't my favourites.
I love how he's wearing the 1st Cav Jacket and talking to us on history like he's an unhinged extra to heart of darkness.
The blackboard half-shoved behind the shelf is a perfect touch of madness.
Since nobody is going to see this, I'll say it. After a long, long journey of self discovery, I don't think I like men or women. I like chairs.
Do you watch Doug Doug?
I see some Ancient Coins on the background, awww yeah!
I find myself constantly in a paradox.
I want to share DJ Peach Cobbler, but he has issues that make him hard to recommend.
However, if it weren’t for the issues that make him hard to recommend, I’m not sure I’d want to recommend him either.
The insanity is what makes him great.
These history videos are incredible. This is by far my favorite history channel. Can't wait to see more!

I love how he’s too invested in the bit, and now buying an eraser would be accepting defeat.
4:32 you made this map? Such a trash map. According to you Rome annexed Lower Nubia? This guy's not to be trusted
Parthians were western iranian people who lived south of the Caspian Sea. Parni people were eastern Iranian nomadic people who invaded Parthia and eventually became the Parthian Empire. Almost immediately the Parni people dropped their dialect and took the Parthian language as their own.
I enjoy where this channel is going and I’m fully strapped in
5:50 can’t help but respect the Street Fighter movie reference that went so hard for no reason.
While other youtubers try to fake insanity by doing crazy things or stunts they pale in comparison to mr.cobblers true and unbridled chaos through words
Mr cobbler, I have watched every video you have uploaded and this is by far the best, it is incredible how the videos just keep getting better the more unhinged you become
I wasn't ready to see cobbler drink a chalk shake but here we are, might as well watch the video.
this absolute mad man ends a history video with to be continued and drops the most baller cameo at the end.
This video has the energy of Charlie from its always sunny, if he was a History Major, and I fucking LOVE it, keep it up brother.
I am absolutely flabbergasted that Times New Roman was the font used in the thumbnail. Took me a couple hours to notice.
think of chalk as a powdered paint. like water color. you can smear it on a slate cuz it's rough, but you can also get it wet and wipe it away, but if you write on a wet surface, it pretty much turns into paint, you have to let the slate dry before you write on it unless you want it to stay forever, but you can always wash and scrub it off.
Why was I so excited for a fuckin history class?! I wanted this more than a video game review. Am I getting old?
I am not ready for this level of madness.
