My broo, We were soldiers is also my favorite movie!
I have it on a DVD and I watched 50+times, each month as a kid I would play that movie.

Served in the First Team in 1987-88.
Funny how I can recognize some of the old stuff still in use in my time.
Of course we were now an armored unit.

Nice I also have a simular uniform kit with M-56 webbing but with 2 canteens with original covers and a south korean Butt pack dated 1961, I have 2 Mag pouches on the front that i got imported from the US and original webbing , the only thing that isnt Oringinal is the belt which is a replica because It was cheaper and covered up anyways , I have an original 1961 M1 carbine bandolier that I slign around my chest that I filled in with wood squares to weighten them and make them look like they are full , I have a french L shaped torch which is almost Identical to the ones used by the US in Vietnam that I attach to the webbing shoulder where you had your Medical pouch , I have a real M1 helemt with a replica camo cover that i wore down to look authentic with a replcia liner inside , ( also some era authentic junk in the helmet band like Marlbouroughs , JFK pin , ammo cartridge's and a US state grafitied onto the Helemt cover ) The pant's and shirt are replica that I wore down a bit with mud and dirt becasue they looked too new becasue I couldnt find any originals online for a good price , I have a 1st Calvary patch on the Left shoulder of the shirt and a US army name tape on the chest above the pocket , I dont have the Jungle boot's as they are quite expensive but I made do with simple black combat boot's ,
I want to use this for Airsoft soon but need to get myself a Tokyo Marui M16 when I have spare cash
Anyway Thanks for covering your equipment and Uniform , Informative video that would have been Handy when I was looking for my Impression kit : )

So did your rank patch go under your division patch on the same arm? or one patch for both arms? Because I can't find a whole lot on insignia placement on the uniform especially for the yellow division patch or the olive drab patch or which pattern jungle shirt. I'm just trying to figure out the right patch placement for 1st through 3rd pattern jungle shirts

Do you know if the m2 bandoleer (for m14 20rounds magazines) was used to carry m16 (20- or 30 rounds) magazines?

The smiley face trend in the US didn't really kick off until 1971. The design may be older, but that isn't accurate on a Nam helmet.

Guilty. For me it is a small reference to Comedian from Watchman. Which signs would you suggest for usage?

@@RedIvanMilitaryEng Hand drawn peace signs were common. Also the P-38 can opener was normally worn on the dog tag chain, not on the helmet. I am retired Army and served during this time period until 1991. In the helmet band was usually found a bottle of insect repellant (bug juice) or C-ration toilet paper. I normally kept my plastic C-Ration spoon in my pocket, not on my helmet where it would get dirty.
