Super iconic car, both years of 1959 and 1960, which was the height of the tailfins. All of the 1959 GM big body two door hardtops are just one of my all time dream cars.
Buick Electra Deuce + 1/4's were always iconic American luxury cars that were better than Caddy Coupe DeVilles in my experience!!! In 1960, you had the Electra 225,Electra,Invicta & the Le Sabre. The Electra 225 was the top Buick!!! A very great automobile!!!
In my youth I had this exact same model, but in black. Magnificent. I loved the flat-top "spacecar" all-around window greenhouse and the speedometer appearing on a mirror for adjusting the view height. Fortunately, mine also had working factory air. Sadly, in the 1970s the motor needed a valve job and and in those days, people were going for smaller, fuel-efficient cars. So my baby had to go. Today I would have NEVER givien it up.
We had a '60 like this, as a kid the mirrored speedo and the little magnifying glass for the gear selector used to fascinate me, and the body was rolling sculpture. They looked so good in white - I felt like a King riding in the back of that car....
Every GM brand shared this same greenhouse for their top-line hardtop sedans at the time. Olds Holiday 98, Pontiac Star Chief, and the Chevy Impala. Even the Cadillac DeVille used it. I guess I never realized how much GM started badge-engineered cars back then as well.
They weren't badge engineered. All of them had exclusive sheetmetal , their own engines and in some instances their own transmissions. In 1960 Bentley and Rolls were more alike than any GM model.
@@kirbywaite1586 Yes, but there was more commonality than in 1958 like firewall, windshield, glass, roof, and interior body panels. GM had to rush the radically new 1959 designs once Chrysler Corp new 1957 designs arrived in Fall 1956.
What a lovely looking car. I had a '59 Electra flat top and though prefering the earlier styling get why many go for the '60. The ride could put many modern cars to shame and one time the performance of that 401 and triple turbine was good enough for me to give a big surprise to a guy in a new Jaguar wanting a challenge at the lights. I sold it nearly 30 years ago (obviously for a lot less than this!) and still have seller's regret! I'll say for sure that whoever buys this is going to be a very happy customer.
these roomy, fully loaded luxury sedans are a much better bargain than the more popular entry level chevys, mustangs, and muscle type cars........This was the top of the line flagship for Buick in 1960..pure class......Willie
Question: Why do there seem to be more 1960 Buicks around, than the 1959s? The 1959 had so much more style and personality ... the 1960 was a sort of rounded-over "dressed down" version of the real deal.
@@grampy2014 not true......it was a great car if taken care of....But then again ive always been in a west coast environment..the rust belt will destroy just about any automobile, especially Toyota's...............Willie
Was there just a Buick Electra ? Not a Buick Electra 225 ? I think so, the dash on the one I saw just said Electra, this beautiful car here says Electra 225 on the dash. And the trunk stamping is different, meaning the support under the rear trunk is different.
I traded a 58 on a 59. I’ve owned a lot of Buicks. The 59 was the worst. As with anything there are exceptions. Good & bad. Mine happened to be a lemon.
What's really messed up these days is that, with available financing, these prices are pretty competitive with new cars. Also, in some cases they have better parts availability.
It was my impression a major difference between sedan and hardtop was the sedan had a noticeable B pillar and the hardtop (this one) did not. Wide open spaces on each window side of the car. Can only imagine how squashed those cars (and passengers) would look if they rolled over!
Dude you're missing the most important feature of this design: IT'S PILLARLESS. There is no structural support for the roof at the point where the front and rear doors meet. It's not about a "flat roof".
For me, cars from this era are fun(ny) to look at. I do not consider them to be beautiful. If a car company today were to produce something similar looking to this, well..
today, every sedan since 2009 look exactly the same (cookie cutter cars)...the only difference is some are smaller....They all feel really cramped inside.......we now live in a controlled Tower of Babel society without any individualism...(the zombie apocalypse)....Willie
Loved the styling of the late 50's and early 60's , GM really had sharp lines and no shortage of chrome
The shape of the headlight surround reminds me of the engines on a B-52.
1960 Buick Electra 225 - my favorite car ever.

An Incredibly Beautiful Car!💕
What beautiful lines, and cool back window with the wrap around.
One of my favorite cars when I was a kid. This color must have been very popular because I remember most of them that I saw were white.
Incredible car. I prefer the 59 headlight design but this vehicle is amazing!
Awesome 60 Buick Electra 225! Stunning 😍

US cars were so innovative and beautiful!

Iconic winged beauty 💙
NIIIICE! Very stylish and well kept up!
I really like this car. The roof line is so cool! This would be a fun ride on a trip across the USA.
My mom had this very car, in the same color. Such memories
Gorgeous!

Yup, all first cousins in the GM family. :)
Nearly all the Chrysler cars did it too!
The 1959 and 1960 Buick Electra 225 RIVIERA Sedan used a different roofline ...6-Window design only shared with the Cadillac Series 62 and DeVille.

Gorgeous Vehicle and The Styling

I agree
I had a 59. They were more of a rust bucket & not very reliable. One of the worst Buicks I’ve had.
@@grampy2014 not true......it was a great car if taken care of....But then again ive always been in a west coast environment..the rust belt will destroy just about any automobile, especially Toyota's...............Willie
Great ride
Almost every GM A body model was significantly improved styling- wise in 1960 over '59 in my opinion.
Beautiful...
thats the first car i was ever in as a baby
Torque numbers are allways more lmportant than horse power
I'm surprised it only has a 401... My father had a "plain" Electra that had a 455.
Crazy that a four-door can go for this price
Very few people could afford an Electra 225 in 1960!
I just want to sit in one of these.
AWESOME!

The flat top!
Oh ya!❤❤
The 1960 Buicks were a calmed down version of the '59s and much better. Gorgeous car.
Hey! Calm down. Better is just subjective... 🙄

The nail head V8 the best ever made its the fast times at Ridge Mont high car

Buick and Cadillac in 1959-60 got a 6-window 4dr hardtop that followed the post sedan roofline and had a small quarter window, but was pillarless.
Nice

That was called the "international design."
I think 225 is the overall length of the car
That is wild alright
That is the Invicta body style...
Muy bueno personalmente no e visto uno ❤😅😂.
Externally a great looking car, but the dash, where your eyes are focused most of the time, is a bit weird and dissapointing.
For me, cars from this era are fun(ny) to look at. I do not consider them to be beautiful. If a car company today were to produce something similar looking to this, well..
No Test Drive
Somebody will change the engine and really pimp this car up!
I hope not leave as it is

And now we see Buick cars made in China.
She lost her distinction after being at the top.
Bring back Buick glory.
Very nice….but…38,900? Don’t think so!
Right, I was surprised it wasn't higher. That's a super bargain.
