The crème de la creme of fine dining for a middle class kid in the 80’s and 90’s

I had moved from Germany to Illinois and we got into our house on Christmas Eve - I remember my dad turning on our little black and white TV, loaned to us by a neighbor along with a couch and this was the first commercial I saw in between the Christmas specials - "Dem bones dem bones" always remind me of Christmas 1981 - Great times and thanks for posting!

I've lived in the Chicago-area of Illinois for most of my life... Sadly, in 1990, many Sizzler locations in my neighborhood closed in June 1990...but not even a year later, we found out that many of the suburbs further outside of Chicago city limits, still had Sizzler Restaurants! Sadly...this was short-lived, as the remaining locations closed between mid-1993 and late-1994. 😢
I miss the food, the restaurants and the "Sizzler atmosphere," but what I miss the most, is the time that I spent with my beloved, dearly departed (as of '14) father, who would take me there after my hockey games and martial arts promotions (earning my next Tai Kwon Do belt).
I absolutely LOVE the food and menu, but the nostalgia and "father-son bonding" is irreplaceable!
Also, when I was 17, I dated a really awesome chick...the only ex-girlfriend that I still communicate with, a beautiful woman with which I dined at one of the very last Sizzlers in Cook County, IL... one of our favorite places to eat (July-August '94) just a month or two before it closed!
Today, it is an absolutely delicious Soul Food restaurant called "Prescilla's" ...And delicious as they may be, I'll never forget the "Sizzler that used to be..." 😥

      Inflation though.
Those NES cartridges were 50 bucks back in the eighties, and that's like over 90$ in today's money

My favorite place when I was a teenager working. I worked at Sizzler Family Steakhouse from 1979 through 1980 then off to the army to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri for basic training.

The one here closed in the 80’s. We’ve made out on Malibu Chicken ever since using Tyson Chicken patties. Tyson patties aren’t as good as they used to be though, but still enjoy our Malibu Chicken.

I remember that last commercial. It introduced a young me to the concept of "all you can eat". Unfortunately there wasn't a Sizzler near where we lived; we had a Golden Corral instead. IIRC they had something similar going on, though, so I gobbed down shrimp like Pac-Man after hearing of this. Simpler times.

Being able to get overweight in 92 dumping platters of heavily breaded popcorn shrimp for 10 bucks in a sketchy joint before america made such distinctions. You had to be there.
