Fast group? Not to be judgemental but there seems to be a few slowpokes you blew by. Maybe being a classic day its different to a regular track-day. I'm gonna have to take my 748 on a classic day, but I think I'd spend more time walking around the pits - I saw a couple of nice NC30's at the end of your vid.
Classic days are an eclectic mix and I am quite fortunate to be granted a ride on such a recent bike. They are running another one at Donington July 28th.
I'm tempted to run a 748 in vintage racing. I was curious to know you experience with the bike on track. Did you run into problems? Is the maintenance reasonable? Any insight would be appreciated. 😊
I have an R & RS. Both are remarkably simple to service and rarely let me down. If I went I would buy a cheap 748 S and change brake pads and MC, fork internals, fairings and get an exhaust that passes UK track noise limits.
@@CornerSpeedThanks for the answer CornerSpeed! I heard the connecting rods bearings are to be serviced every year on this era Ducatis 748 & 916 when they are used on track... Ever ran into problems with those? Just want to gather some fact before I choose a vintage bike for racing... 😊

I have never in five years had either R or RS engine apart. You must replace belts every two years, check valve clearances every ten days of track and rocker damage at same time. Add a slipper clutch if possible. @@stevemongrain7424

He is a bit special. Met him in Aragon again on an Aprilia, lovely bloke.

@@CornerSpeed Good to know, thanks for the heads up! I'd love to hear and smell 2-strokes again...
You are right. Mainly old guys on old bikes who were both “fast” back in the day.
