That guy about fusions is so right, fusion summon nowadays is just an undercover new game summoning mechanic slapped under the term fusion summon.
His point was the materials just looped from deck to grave to banish and back to deck so they're basically instant fusion with extra steps, I think...
I know. I see it as better ritual summoning. Specifically high ritual art. Use materials from deck and it is impossible to brick of the monster. Worse, it can be so generic. Red eyes fusion to get dragoon, fusion destiny to get DPE, ect.what happened to materials on board/hand.
Yeah, you aren’t really fusing the monsters anymore, you are just putting the materials from one place to another and summoning the fusion monster.

Hungry Burger needs a Vendread style archetype, with the main deck monsters being like lettuce and tomato and shit, and it gives hungry burger effects based on the ingredients. Then you could overlay two Hunger Burgers into Starving Double Cheese Burger. They could have a soul charge like thing like “Hungry Meal Deal”. Like c’mon, everyone’s gonna play this at least once, even if it’s terrible.

Okay so unironically: a flip archetype that flip themself face-up using the the melffy activation requirements but can activate while face-down like amaterasu. Make them float like krawlers if they leave the field face-down by an opponent's card and give them a searchable field spell that special summons them from hand/gy and adds a flip monster on activation like the rokket one and can flip them up & down like hidden city. Retrain krawlers for it even I just want a flip archetype that isn't absolute garbage or carried by a floodgate.
Edit: so I keep getting recommended ghostricks, subterror, and tindangle and seriously: what build of any of those decks aren't trying to sit on a floodgate or getting stomped in casual tier? I know the meme is farfa viewers are bad at the game but come on guys...

You have to create an entire archetype AND make sure these cards won't be abused by other flip-related cards.

I think I got what fusion guy tried to say. You dump materials from your deck into the grave and get a guy, then banish the same materials and get a guy and then finally shuffle them back into the deck and get a guy again. It's like a cycle, but you inexplicably generate something extra in the process. I think it's a comment about our society and how we as individuals has been stuck in the same wretched cycle for so long, it no longer matters what steps we are even doing as long as we generate that extra profit. The grind deprived us of our humanity and maybe we should stop for a moment and look around ourselves, bring back meaning to small things, start appreciating them. Or else our lives will be just as whatever as fusion is.

Considering barely anything special summons in face down defense, it would even be balanced by the fact that you could only normal set 1 flip monster. Might actually be an interesting idea to try out at least. It feels like something you could convince MBT to do in one of his tournaments 🤣

We need a heart of the card zone where we can select up to 5 cards that we can randomly draw once per duel as long as we are behind on life points. Also, before we draw we have to scream, “ Heart of the cards!” But if your opponent screams “ heart of the cards” first they can draw instead.
You also have to have your eyes closed, and you have to choose the cards randomly from your binder so you don't know what they are (you gotta have the proper yugioh music playing also!). Finally, you have to play the card immidiately after drawing it without looking at it, assured that the card you drew is EXACTLY the right card nessarry to get you out of whatever perdicament your currently in!
Actually...just take my last sentence and make it a game mechanic! You can insta play any card from the top of your deck as long as you commit to playing that card...and if the card doesn't give you proper board advantage as a result, you get penalized and aren't allowed to use the technique anymore.

That's exactly how it happens in japanese YCS. Bo1 25 min, if time is reached in swiss rounds, both lose (detail: losing 2 times _automatically_ cuts you off the top).
The flip suggestion was interesting, cuz that'd make Subterrors more useable than guru control.
Essentially if you flip these cards you get these benefits.
Guru can search, and if there is another face up subterror can also flip itself and another card down. has synergy with Voltelluric to literally snatch steal as a trap.
Stygokraken is basically a mass pop of any card on the field while Umastryx can banish a monster.
Phosphero would be a literal foolish burial on legs.
Stalagamo my fav would be a Destiny Draw on legs.
Volt is a snatch steal to face down cards.
Speleogeist is a fun combat trick but actually is still bad LMAO
And Ultramafus sets all monsters face down except itself, so quaking mirror force on legs.
This sounds really good, and people forget that you can special summon any of them from hand if a face up monster is flipped face down from hand. And the Behemoths (other than guru lmao) also can flip themselves down again which triggers the special summon condition. Hell just use a fiendess negate to trigger it for free.
Flips with this would be really anti-meta AND I LOVE THAT.

@@michaelkeha I do say, it should at least be that put them on the field is the same as a regular monster, unlike artifacts. So either normal set or special them face down with another card that allows it, not just set 3 like actual trap cards. Or maybe just make an achtype balanced around it.
If you were allowed to flip 1 FLIP monster (into attack mode) on your opponent's turn with Spell Speed 2, that could certainly revitalize many of those mostly unused cards. Maybe you could try to make a video testing this idea out and discover which would be the most broken FLIP monsters with this rule change.
So Hot Take: We need a Ritual Spell that is Super Poly to offset the deep resource sink of Rituals that mostly end up being mediocre at best. Add in Immunity to the card type used for the Tribute so you can tribute your Opponents Floodgates and become Immune to Traps, or a Field Spell and a Monster to make your Vanilla BLS into a Spell/Monster Immune beat stick.
This needs more attention...I wonder what other people will think of this idea... :O

Dude, for real. The moment you know you're against Runick just wait for you to draw the out or if you don't have any, stop playing outright. Follow up on the double LPs to avoid OTKs. The reality is that strategies will change and new cards will be designed around that new LP total. If you really want to stop OTKs through LP damage the best way to do it would be to steal something from video games called "one shot protection". There's different versions of that system and im pretty sure there's a way to do it that would slow down the game a bit. It could be something like : a player cannot suffer more than 7k LP dmg from attacks in the same turn. Or maybe all battle damage that exceeds 2000 is cut in half. The numbers are just for reference and the reality is that even then there's a high chance people will adapt to it. I honestly dont think LP is where you want to look if you want to slow the game down. It has to be through a ressources system or maybe something like summoning sickness.

Maybe have a second, 5 card, side deck for Extra deck monsters only. You'd be able to "increase the ED limit" but still keep the 15 max condition but in a more dynamic, duel by duel way.

What if master rule 6 involves adding deck masters but instead of calling them deck masters they are called Burst monsters, and you can only play one. And when you sommon your burst monsters you can say I'm gonna burst summoning your deck master....
In regards to what MBT said, the reason why MD isn't full of Trif Gaming 45 negates though 10 handtraps is because the yugioh playerbase is INCREDIBLY risk-averse. People see Maxx C and shit themselves and conclude that combo is dead. I wouldn't be surprised if the main reason that Runick is so popular in MD is that at best, Maxx is an upstart goblin against it.

To Stevie's credit, having 2 ban lists a year wouldn't be the worst thing, and if something was legitimately causing problems (not what most people think are problems lol) then you can just do an emergency ban list. Also would be a good way to call out Konami if they have to emergency ban several times a year, then you should probably balance your cards better.

Old Magic releases were far superior in terms of timeline. It's funny to see people complaining about all the releases Magic does now because they're chasing a more YGO-like release schedule out of pure greed which you know is only serving to hurt them long term.
This - alongside fixing ED monsters to be less generic - would also help curb power creep in general because now they aren't trying to outdo themselves as much a year.

@@drewbabe I see this as being slightly non-synergistic though. With fewer releases, that also means less answers being printed. As was said, Tearlements beats Branded, which is beaten by Kashtira, etc. Fewer release means either certain archtypes can't ever shine because they're released alongisde their immediate counters, or problematic archtypes will run rampant longer without getting checked.
I feel like a Flip archetype that goes into the backrow like Artifacts and flip summon like trap monsters (i.e Embodiment of Apophis) would be a really nice archetype

About hero support, I mainly want more contrast HEROs as they only have one card and I think that it has an interesting concept.
That one guys take with the "Battle City" theme idea does sound interesting. But, like what would they do if someone were just steal their star chips instead. There should be a somewhat upgraded Tornado Dragon so it can search any "tornado" "typhoon" "storm" "cyclone" etc spell cards. Backrow removal solved
Maxx C can come back with the errata, “you cannot activate other cards or effects for the rest of the turn after this card resolves.” You get the card advantage but the trade off is you can’t use handtraps or effects on your field if you already have an established board.
Let's sweeten the deal a bit.

Since more often than not your using this on your opponent's turn anyways.

Card design for extra deck monsters should focus on what makes that mechanic unique.
- Contact fusion and monsters with fusion effects are a problem for the game mechanically, why do we have generic combination of monsters on field be a fusion if they could be a link? Why do we have monsters have the effect to fusion summon, inherently taking away part of the -3 that fusions are supposed to be?
- Synchro summoning with tokens I am a bit iffy about. It kind of makes deck building less challenging. But this is mostly an old man yells at cloud kind of complaint
- XYZs should use more their detach as a mechanic. Rhongo-like "if it has so many materials" is less interactive
- Pendulums are bad
- Links are actually good if they use the whole arrow mechanic for something. Generic toolbox links that do nothing with their arrows are bad

The next TCG exclusive archetype, unrevealed to the public, which power-creeps all decks that came before. What better way to sell a set than get the new deck in that set to defeat the deck that won a tournament?

I want a new column added to the banlist that says to which archetype the limitation is for; OCG example -> they could say Toad is only banned in combination with the Spright archetype.
Synchrons need a good in-archetype boss monster that doesn't require your left nut to make.
Shooting Majestic is fine on paper but it requires you run three additional garnets in your deck *at minimum*. Baronne got co-opted by everyone and I strongly suspect that Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon and Assault Synchron will suffer similar fates.
We also need some sort of follow-up or alternate engine opener in the event Junk Speeder gets negated or just can't be made.
Reverse Gemini monsters. Effect monsters that can use a normal summon to be treated like a normal monster while also being unaffected by card effects.
I could not disagree with MBT's take any harder. Every single form of FTK and "unbreakable board" (Manipulator of Souls, Junk Synchron, Turbo Exodia, Nurse Burn, etc.) requires an exceptionally fragile combo line where if anything is interrupted, you can no longer continue, and also requires a 2 or 3 card combo. If you don't win the coin flip, AND draw exactly what you need, AND your opponent draws absolutely no disruption, your FTK or unbreakable board is no longer valid. This, along with the fact that playing the game this way is just exceptionally un-fun, is why nobody plays that way. Not because "master duel players are braindead!!!"
Plus, if MD players were as braindead and manipulated by Yugitubers as MBT thinks they are, Runick would never have seen the light of day, competitively. It took players like me, who outright disagreed with the vast majority of Yugitubers that said "Runick isn't a big deal," to go ahead and prove them wrong. And if MBT was actually right, he would go ahead and prove the "many flavors of FTK" are even better than our current tier 1 decks by winning a tournament or going on a win streak in Diamond 1 with his own FTK brew. But of course, it's just hot air and bad takes with nothing material to back it up.
I made a custom archetype of flip monsters that share a same trigger effect: after a spell/trap card or effect was activated, they can flip themselves as cost to activate an effect that gains you 100 LP (basically the effect does nothing, the cost is what matters). It's inspired by stuff like Amaterasu and Deus, and it allows flip monsters to trigger easily while still needing a ressource to do so, but it can be ANY spell/trap, you don't need a specific bad continuous trap.
I feel like this is the kind of direction they should take with stuff like Gemini monsters too. Have the effect not be "free" (the card alone still doesn't do it) but have any ressource of a specific card be able to turn it online.
They used to do duelist city formats on Anime Expo a long time ago and on the last day the people with most chips will win, but the problem was that most people would either trade their chips for cards, sell them or give them to their pal

Oh so I actually agree with the "2 banlists a year" take. BUT I would like to change it to include player feedback. The two lists also MUST abide by a specific schedule each year, this way we know exactly when the lists will drop and it gives time people to prepare.
This gives Konami more time to actually analyze what needs to be addressed and people realize "problem cards" aren't that bad once the archetype gets power crept. Konami can still put out emergency banlists when needed if things are too insane like ftks, infinite loops, cards that force draws, etc.
Plus we get bigger lists that way.

Biggest unhinged take, have high end cards in sets available as lower rarities in the same set so more people can play the newer decks.

I believe that it's a good idea to allow Pendulum Monsters from the extra deck to be summon anywhere on the field, without the assistance of Link Monsters.
people talk about extra deck 2, but when are we getting side deck 2 in which you put your extra deck side deck. People use the side deck to change cards in their main deck, but if you made a second deck for the extra deck we could see a whole new world of counterdecking
I think card like tunner/gemini/flip should be like pendulum and have one half of the card in an other color (bottom white for tunner, top normal for gemini, bottom pink for flip), its useless, but at least make them distinguishable
I agree with MBT the ONLY thing keeping the FTK flood out is handtraps if any of them get a way to play around them it will be a disaster.

It's literally almost irrelevant and only hurts all link decks that also have bad arrows, which is like, Cyberse exactly. For decks that only splash links just put your columns right and you're done.

We should have a IRL Format for TCG/OCG but With Duel Links like Banlist.
For example: Put all Continuous Trap Floodgates to 1, so You CAN'T play them all in the same deck. You have to pick 1 or the other
If they are making a new type of card mechanic, the cards better be red. Link summoning jacked up the color economy by overlapping with Rituals with a slightly different hue. We all got baited twice (first with Pendulums, then with Links).

My unhinged idea is making any instance of “Quick Effect” on monsters a true Hard Once per turn. (You only can use one Quick Effect per turn) --
It’d be interesting to see how deck building, gameplay, and the banlist shift with that sort of change.
Certain decks would get really shafted by this and ash would be dead. Honestly it'd be hilarious and bring back some older decks, from a time when quick effects were at more of a premium

The last guy's point is that fusion summoning was supposed to have a cost like every other summoning mechanic but now it just doesn't, except he thinks that's good I guess
Like, Branded Fusion is basically just you putting an extra deck monster directly into your main deck that you can special summon from your hand for free, except it's better than that in multiple ways

MR6: Monsters without the clause "This card can attack your opponent directly" cannot direct attack. I believe this will slow down the game pace.
