Hey Blake, I thought the same thing on the "too good to be true." But in this case, I can't say enough about this gadget. It has saved me time, cash and even some pride.
The replacement rods are about $30 on Amazon:
      amzn.to/3aQ64n1
1 rod lasts me about 2 seasons. I have a 10,000 gallon, in-ground pool, in New Jersey.

@@CoachHelder Totally agree with all you say here. I've upgraded now to a hybrid electrical ionisation/oxidisation system, but this device was amazing for the 5 years we used it. Biggest plus for the solar ioniser, compared to our current system, is the cost. Electricity is expensive, and this floating device is brilliant.

Great Video. I am curious how long have you had it and are you still happy with it? I saw one play it left a weird stain on the bottom on a cement pool. I am going to use it on a fiberglass pool. Also do you use chlorine at all or just minimally?

Hello Toby, so far it has been 3 years and this contraption has been a life saver. I no longer have a green pool, especially the day before a planned BBQ. ;-)
As a matter of fact, my pool is still clear from last year which is something that I am not used to.
The key is to maintain the proper levels/reading, especially with the copper testing. This ionizer includes a test kit. I have not had any damage to my pool but I do check and maintain the proper levels in my pool.
I have drastically cut down on chlorine use. Both for time-release as well as liquid chlorine.
There are a lot of imposters on the market. Be sure to go with this company if you decide to purchase a pool ionizer.
I hope that helps and let me know what you think if you do pick one up.

It's good practice to scrub the oxidation off the copper. Most kits include a wire brush for that task.
As far as, 'is it working?'
The only way to know is to check your copper levels in the pool.
Keep in mind that all of your pool readings need to be at the optimum level for the ionizer to do its job.

As far as this pool ionizer, it will keep your pool algae-free and also cut back, considerably, on your chlorine use.

The pool ionizer have saved me a ton on chlorine alone. I have not used any stabilizers since I started using the ionizer a few years back. The key, from what I see, is having your levels at their peak before you introduce the ionizer. Since that process I have only added chlorine tabs to the skimmer and up the PH (w/ baking soda) a couple times per season.

Quick question, I bought very similar to yours. But having run on the first day, for approx 6 hrs, i tested the water and the copper level immediately shot up to 0.7ppm. the manual does said if more than .9 ppm take the unit off from the pool. A lot site also recommend not to have more than 1 ppm before it does more harm to your pool than good. Do you actually just leave yours floating on the pool the whole day every day or just few hours each day? I'm just concern leaving all day, because even just 6 hrs it shot up from 0 to .7ppm. I'm scared if I leave it every day all day it will increase to 1 or even more.

Hello Adi, there are a few models in the market and they aren't all the same. Just a heads up, I found out the hard way once I started getting questions on here about the other ionizers.
The manufacturer of this one states that we should maintain a .4. Once I get to that reading, with all the other chemical levels on par, I then remove the ionizer from my pool.
Once it gets below .4, I throw the ionizer back in.
I have learned a lot over the past 2 years. The first year, I left the ionizer in all season. As you can imagine, my reading was closer to a 1!
Now, even in the winter months of NJ, my pool is still blue and clear. Frozen, but blue! 😁

Hello 21kidsanddogs, I don't have a steady routine besides taking a daily reading of the levels to see what is needed.

Once that is achieved I take the ionizer out so that my copper reading doesn't get too high.

Once I put the ionizer in the pool after opening, I never take it out until it's time to winterize the pool.
Be sure that all you levels are on par before placing the ionizer in the pool. Also, if you need to shock the pool again, for any reason, that would be the time to take the ionizer out until your readings are back to the correct level.
      I hope that helps.

Coach Helder so you would only use this product during the summer time??
I’m down here in south Florida.

@@cuba013 I have a couple of friends in the Miami area that keep their pool open all year. They have kept the ionizer in the pool the whole time and it has worked well for them. Be sure to keep the ionizer copper rod clean, using the provided wire brushes. You will go through the rods much faster but in the long run, it will still save you money over other options.
      I hope that helps.

And what exactly will this product do for my salt system ? Thx again.

@@cuba013, I do not have any experience with salt water pools but as per the manufacturer, this ionizer will work just as well in a salt water pool.
It will keep your pool algae free and cut down on your chlorine needs by 80%.
      I hope that helps.
If you do pick one up, please let me know how it works for you in your salt water pool. I'm sure many people on here would be interested in your opinion.
      Thank you.

      Hello Guapo,
When I put the ionizer in the pool, it was recommended that the pool be clear and all levels up to par.
I never tested it with existing algae. All that I can say is that I didn't have any algae since using the ionizer; both last year and so far, this year.
      I hope that helps.

Just buy a gallon of Orenda PR 10,000 ($130). Will last 3 years and no copper or silver.
My Phosphate level is 0; just checked it at leslie's yesterday.
And my Algea is 0 along with my Copper and Silver.

I have used a Flotron for 3 years. It kept my water crystal clear but it RUINED my marcite because of all the copper deposits. Just spent 6000.00 for a new marcite job. The copper turns the marcite BLACK. I will never use another one.

Thanks for the heads up, Roger. So far so good on my pool. It is only my second year with the ionizer and it has really worked out well for me. Sorry that you had that issue with the marcite.
I opened up my pool a couple of weeks back, I'm in NJ. This was the first year that I didn't use algaecide while opening the pool. I had some in reserve but I wanted to see if the ionizer could handle the job alone.
My pool is crystal clear, it did take a couple of extra days, but it did the job. Once again, I was impressed.
I will keep a close eye on the situation and report back if I begin to see any negative effects.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience with us; it's appreciated.

Sorry Coach you wasted your money and sadly many others on here will too..
I used the piece of copper pipe in the skimmer method many years ago and yes it works, no electricity needed, never any algae at all. However about 10 years ago I discovered Copper Sulfate and started using it. I have a 13k pool and use 1 tablespoon diluted a month. Never ever have I had any Algae since. No green hair, no pool stains on my gunite pool here in Florida. Stop listening to these people who don't have a clue, maybe they work for pool companies or don't even have a pool. So may gimmicks when this is the easiest cost effective solution out there.. Look at the ingredients of most pool Algaecides 5-7% Copper Sulfate. When you buy Copper Sulfate small crystals (Amazon, eBay) and dissolve it, it is 20% concentrate so don't think 1 tablespoon a month is to little, adjust if your pool is larger. That is all you need and you'll NEVER have Algae again. The key is Don't over do it thinking more is better, it's not. It does reduce the amount of Chlorine you use but not by a significant amount. Do the research, stop wasting your money.

      Thanks for sharing.
To be honest, I do a great deal of research. Not sure why you thought that I did not do my DD.
For less than $100, I throw a device into my pool. I leave it in a week, more or less, check my copper reading and if it's good to go... I take it out. I am then done for the season.
That has been my SOP for 6 years now, dividing that (sub $100 investment) into 6 and counting...
I'm pretty happy with my research, recommendations to subscibers, and my initial investment.
So, you are happy with what you do and I am too.
Enjoy your day, Florida is awesome and Cheers my friend. 🍻
