  • Building a black locust Mollegabet style bow with the use of hand tools. The bow is drawing 45lb at 26", approx 66" ntn. What a great shooter it is! Test shooting video coming hopefully next week. Stay tuned!

How hard is it to find a clean stave? I haven’t found much BL but the ones I found were infested with borers

@@j.shorter4716 the first tree I found had borers but then I got better at looking at the leaves to tell if the tree was healthy it not, at least for me in Pennsylvania it was easy to find a healthy tree

I love the Mollegabet design. It's so easy to make a longer or shorter bow and still get your full draw length with it. Beautifully done. That Locust sure is lovely wood.

I have never even heard of a Mollegabet bow before, but it's certainly interesting. This is one of the best looking bows I have seen you make, and it looks like it performs well. Great build!

Neal nice drawknife and scraper work. Well built and tillered. Interesting design with such a short bending limb section. I wonder about the long term effects if it will cause the limbs to take a set? I am sure the tempering of the belly will help with that. The shape looks like a straight Asian horn bow minus horn and sinew with the long static narrow limb ends. Can’t really call them tips at that length. Again, well done.

Most of this style of bow have a fairly abrupt transition where the working limb meets the static limb, is there any advantage to making the transition more gradual?

The oldest bow found was from Denmark too, like the Møllegabet bow.
