  • I had a go at building a built-in closet with top track sliding bypass doors for my hallway renovation. The process was a lot easier than I had expected, especially considering this was the first time I'd tried it. It's made with basic tools and took a few weeks to make. Here's how it's made.

Very well done- congratulations, it looks like it has always been part of the house.

you don't need to hand make and place custom guides at the bottom of the doors. Since you made the pelmet and bought the top track already. You can also purchase a lower running track. These are usually sold in pairs (a top track and a bottom track). Saves a lot of stuffing around and the doors are move secure to the floor with less chance of them bouncing off the little guides you put in. These are not a new thing as i have been modifying wardrobes for over 30 years using a double tracking system.

It's a crime you don't have more subs. One of the most underrated maker channels. Well done on this one!

That took me back! I made the doors... you made the whole bloody thing except the doors 😅 Those tracks are fiddly as hell but the adjustment options were worth it once fitted. Looking great and you saved yourself a fortune on a pro-job I can guarantee. 👌

It came out really nice. Looks original to the house. Only suggestion would be to enclose the top of the cupboard as well so you don't need to look at whatever you store on there.

The top of the closet will be the perfect hiding spot to scare passerby's from 😂

I am disappointed you didn't do a Peter Millard type construction, but what you did was fantastic, well done. (May I say "built like a brick s**thouse").

I'm sure I remember you buying a 3-pack of nail guns, all different types, but I looked for the video and didn't see it??

You’re right, that was a couple years back on my other channel. That’s on loan to a mate at the moment so didn’t have it around at the time

Yes being able to remove the pelmet makes it much easier to remove the doors and to rehang them. Especially when those plastic wheels break the make a clicking noise when you open and close the doors.

They make wheels that aren't plastic.
