Great job. I actually made bi-fold doors for a client last month. I used frosted glass inserts. I just used 3/4 inch stock pine boards to make mine. Worked just fine for me. Just saw this video after I made them. I used the same kit you did. Again great job.

I followed how you made these and it came out great. I used some thin lauan for the panels which worked out great. I used 1x4 for the stile at the bottom and 1x3 for the stile at the top. I added a mid stile since the lauan is so thin, also used 1x3 here. 1x2 for rails and sandwiched everything together. Word of warning, make sure the brads you use are far enough from the edge not to be in the path of the rabbit bit. If you have enough clamps I’d do that too. I don’t have a planer, but it would certainly have helped. The kit I got for hardware was Everbuilt from Home Depot, their instructions are ok, but have a contradiction in width, step 1 says make the width 1/4” less than the opening, step 3 said bake it 3/16” less. I went less giving I can always remove a little more later, should have picked 1/8” less per panel really. Still more of a gap than I’d want.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. Great instructions and explanation as you go. I've got a doorway in my basement that cannot fit a normal door (or french doors) and also cannot have a pocket door put in without a lot of extra work. A set of bifold doors will likely be my solution. My panels will likely be 1/4" ply or mdf to add strength and durability since these will function as actual doors versus closet doors. Cool idea to use a CNC. I will probably make laser-cut overlay panels.

Just a tip about your chiselling. Just as I have recently also learned is that you should usually not even need a hammer to use them since they should be sharpened enough so that they simply just cut off the wood fibres with ease. You can do so with some various grit of wet sandpaper glued to a piece of glass, stiff and perfectly flat metal piece or other flat and stiff materials, preferably one that isn't affected by water. Should go up to at least 1000 grit or even higher is possible. If there is a budget for it then diamond sharpening stones are the best. Then finish off with some fine abrasive paste on a piece of leather.
There are several guides here on UA-cam made by woodworking channels.

Thank you for this video! We have an off sized closet and we priced out custom bifold doors and immediately shut that idea down. I think they wanted $400-500. I didn't even consider making them. We do have slider doors somewhere but I do not like not having complete access so I've left them off.

I have little attic / “crawl” spaces like this through out my entire upstairs of my house. My boys room has 3 (2 in their actual room & 1 in their closet area that’s a LONG L shaped closet). These areas take up a good 1/4 of the upstairs. I one large one in my room and 2 small enclosed ones (where there is no door), 1 is actually part of my boys room that leads into my room I think. I really want to knock them out like you sis & creat more space. My boys room is like a loft, they don’t actually have walls inclosing it, it’s just walls around the house (we walk through the boys room to get to our room). Their long L closet wraps around the stairs and stops at the bathroom. I would love to knock part of that wall down to creat more open space then open those crawl spaces up. It would make SO much room.
