“ hoard them like a dragon”- only from a fantasy reader haha
Me: ‘Not enjoying a 5 minute song’-Skips it. ‘Not enjoying a 90minute movie’-Stops it. ‘Not enjoying an 800 page book’-Reads anyway in case it gets better.
100% the same. I never DNF, I just can't do it.
Daniella Bedford Once I was reading at a party and someone was like “What are you reading? It must be very exciting.”
And I was like “It’s terrible. I was confused the whole time. Can’t even tell you what this book is about.”
Her: “Well, I guess you can stop then?”
Me: “Already at 90%”
Completely understand! I just keep going thinking, it's got to get better! Waste half my life reading books I hate 🙈
@@dannimariebedford I try not to end
Last time I did was 4 years ago
it I've only ever DNF on book and that was the kite runner when I was 16. So 11 years ago.
My reading problem is reading too much, or never reading
I just realized I don't have bookish people to talk books IRL... Sadness
I know, right? Totally wish I had IRL friends to talk bookish things with.
Right there with you
Am I the only who wills myself to finish a book even though I wasn’t feeling it midway? I feel incomplete and hollow knowing there’s a book I did not finish reading.
The Proactive Bookworm yes I too like to torment myself
Clare Flattery yes that’s it. Torment is the word lol
I can’t do it! If I’m struggling I find that I don’t comprehend anything. Gotta put it down. I am always amazed and jealous by those who can just keep going. Good for you!
Hannah L thanks! Staying in my lane helps too. I read books that are somewhat in my ball park so whenever I’m not feeling it, I can still read on knowing it’s still a genre/topic I’m interested in.
My problem is that, even if I don’t like where a book is going or what it is doing, not knowing what happens in it KILLS ME. I’d rather finish a book I don’t like than have to deal with the curiosity of what was going to happen
I mostly use the library for new releases. If I really love them I can buy them later.
Though I do buy books that the Library doesn't have or that I'm super excited for.
Same!
I’ve also been cutting down on book purchases and using my library more recently. I used to check out books from the library a lot as a kid and it’s great to do again as an adult!
I. Love. My. Library. 💜💙
i wish i was as strict as you on quitting books if you dont enjoy them lol. and i have so many to get rid of but i want to read them all. i always just hope a book will get better i need to stop that
i share the same sentiment... i find it hard to dismiss a book halfway through... if i start to dislike a book for some reason, what i do is, i skim through it until the end :)
Been 3 years since I lent someone one of my books... Never again. 😬
Saaame. Too many books who never came back
5 years for me and I only got it back this year
I borrowed my book to my middle school teacher. It was the first book I bought with my own money (and I was poor) it’s been 8 years mrs.hoffman. When am I’m getting it back?!
I spend too much time just looking at my books instead of reading. Books as objects make me so happy.
_"NO GOODREADS GOAL IS WORTH THAT"_
Amen.
I can relate on the crying part so much 😂😂 it's weirdly how was just nodding and be like yeah I cried in the subway over a book... it happens and seriously there are definitely more hard-core weirdos at public transport 🤭😂😅
Finding a Reading Buddy really helps getting out of a reading slump! Reading a book with someone and loving it or hating it together really gets me back into reading!
I love love love these old school booktube tag videos 💕
My reading problem: Staying awake.. Thank goodness for audio books.
I love your videos💜💜💜💜 especially fantasy recommendations, but also this channel is just so positive and brings me so much joy❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Love this video idea! My go to thing to get out of a reading slump is picking up anything from Christian Lauren. They are always there when I need to feel like I’m being productive and still reading.
I needed someone to tell me you don't need to complete your goodreads goal, because my goal was way to enthusiastic for me! And quitting a book, never even considered, maybe I will from now on haha. Love this whole talk!
"Sometimes people have flashbacks" hahaha I felt that so hard
this intro made me realise that i've been following you for so long 😭😭
You are great when recommending the best books. I read a lot of the books you have read.💗 So thank you so much 😊.
Early!! Just wanted to say that you are very beautiful and I love your channel!♥️♥️♥️
This was very relatable 💛 love your videos!!!! (It’s also inspired me to film some book videos)
This is such a cool tag/question list.
Also I love how your response to all these are mostly just relaxed, go with the flow solutions. ♡
Coming from a native New Yorker, there’s some sort of catharsis while crying in the subway!
i love this video... your channel always bring a smile on my face :)
I wish I had a friend that would talk books with me :(
Love your shirt!
Like your comments - you always recommend excellent books - so far each each one has been 4 stars or better - so many books out there and so little time but you steer me toward the best which I appreciate! THOSE books are so good and I enjoy each second of reading them! Thanks!
Reading Daisy Jones and the Six right now so I definitely need more retro!
Great video. Love this tag
This video was so fun. I may have to do this for myself!
Choosing books from the TBR list is so relatable because I am a list and mood person as well hahahaha
I needed that affirmation today. I've been debating forcing myself through the near witch even though I put it down at like page 79. It is one of the books I'm reading for my NEWTS, but I might just read the forbidden section book to make up for it.
THE COAT HANGER
Im thinking about moving to new york! would you be up for doing a video on how you moved to new york and what it was like for work/finding friends/ the atmosphere? I know its not youre usual content but id love to hear your perspective
I made a cute bookshelf in my bulletin journal with my TBR books. And I have a ton saved on my audiobooks.
I like reviews with Spoilers but you should always say that your review has spoilers before they start reading it!!!!
I had someone return a book to me once that was very damaged and I was PISSED. Even more so because the person didn’t even recognize it and didn’t think they did anything wrong.
I can relate
Before, I do that monthly TBR with 3 to 4 books a month and like you, I have a monthly buying of books (bonus point if there is a book sale). And because of that. I ended up reading books what I bought instead of following what is in my TBR. So what I do is list a book to read by shelves. And it works for me. If it's a series I will read in series and vice versa. I get bored sticking to one genre of books. My bookshelves is mix of different kinds of book genre.
1. I would say that I pick through either readathons, series that I haven’t finished, authors to catch up on, and books that I own. It’s a varied mix.
2. Honestly I’m so used to just keep going to see if it gets better. But I am trying to DNF.
3. I’m that person that hopes to complete their Goodreads goal and I will make sure that I make it. Oops.
4. Book covers need to match. I considered not buying the sequels or the series if they don’t match. Especially with hardcovers and paperbacks.
5. I talk to my best friends about the books. Or my boyfriend. I just try to talk to any of them because I have a lot of feelings.
6. I will cry in public. Do not care if people see. Again, I have a lot of feelings.
7. I always reread the book prior especially if it’s been more than a year since I read it. That’s always been the rule.
8. I only let people who are close to me borrow books because if I let everyone, then I will never see that book again.
9. I never had that problem. In a reading slump I just don’t read anything and to get back, I just try to get back to reading something that I love.
10. I’m not buying as much new releases anymore but back then, I just bought everything XD. But now I have a system for unread owned books and depending on the number, then I can treat myself. But I usually buy new sequels.
11. My god it varies. Sometimes I read it immediately or other times it just stays there unread for who knows how long.
Here’s for the answers no one asks for but yea I love discussing these kind of things!
Thank you very much for video on this topic, even though I don't read novel but this might help me for studying my college books ,you might be knowing science and its branches in undergraduate degree
I once lent a book to a friend who then threw it away because she didn't like it - and she didn't even feel sorry about it. That was the last time I gave someone a book of mine.
WOAH SHE THREW *YOUR* BOOK AWAY CAUSE SHE DIDN'T LIKE IT??? THATS INSANE
F them
I've only recently opened myself up to dnfing a book. Its been so freeing!
This was a fun tag!
"Let the rain fall down" was that...meant to be a Hilary Duff reference? Or am I just showing my age?
I'm coming cleannnn
I am the same with list making and mood reader. '
I love lending books but they already come back damaged and have never got books before.
*READING PROBLEMS:*
+ When you want to read a lot of cool books, however, you don't have any money to buy them. And you are constantly switching between crying and annoyed mood.
+ Dealing with spanish-translated books and you hate them.
Can't you join a library? That's what I did. :)
@@oscarfun100 My country don't have local libraries. And most libraries are found on schools or too far away.
My computer is being weird about links right now, but if it works, this list of book subscription options might be good for you. If the link does not work, just paste the underlined portion into google. I really like scribd and kindle unlimited, but I'm sure they are all good. Some other good ways to get a lot of books affordably are on platforms like Overdrive (access to library books, audiobooks, video, etc. online), Audiobooks.com (there is an app option, as well as for computer, tablets, etc. May only work on IOS, but I'm not sure, but this is free), and BookBub (notifications for free books and discounts).
The 6 Best Ebook Subscription Services for Unlimited Reading
I also recommend typing in Online Library into google. There's a lot of good free options to borrow books to read.
I will say, I've only ever had two people return a book to me both damaged in some way as well. The rest never have. That aside, I don't terribly mind lending out books still...it's not like I have precious heirloom originals, I know if it's something I'm recommending, it's probably one I've had for a while and I know I can usually find at a second hand store for decently inexpensive. I'm also ok spending my money on books--it's supporting an industry that I love. I also rarely borrow books from friends, I had one that I borrowed from a friend the last time I ever saw her. I kept it for YEARS in the hopes of eventually giving it back to her...I moved several times, she is now married with kids...the list goes on but I finally donated it last year because at this point, over a decade later, I'm probably not going to get it back to her. I made the good faith attempt at eventually doing so, so I'm hoping that counts for something.
Can relate to all of these #readerproblems 😂😂📖
So I have this one really annoying thing on the point of series not matching up:
So it’s about the Knight Angel Trilogy (by Brent weeks).I bought the first book of the trilogy in a second hand bookstore, then when I went to buy the sequels I specifically looked for matching covers. So I bought them, but when they arrived, they were matching the cover, but not height. So now I have three books of matching book covers but the last two are about an inch taller then the first 😤🤦♂️😂
Hi Regan! Got a book recommendation for you: The Shadow of What was Lost by James Islington. It’s an adult high fantasy and I’ve just started it, interested to see if you’d like it!
nothing wrong with digging stuff up from the past lol i've been on a 90's nostalgia trip lately lol. Hey first comment? now i'm nervous. So i'm on the devil's thief and have no clue what to read next as its so good and dont want to read anything i dont enjoy after. I mostly read fantasy too but it has to have a romance in it.
Ah just another Tuesday...New York is harsh lol
Do have an idea of how many read and unred books you own?
(Also, great video ❤️)
I got probably 19 books for Christmas and I’ve read maybe five of them. I kept buying other books and reading them instead🤦🏾♀️ that’s why the throne of glass series is unfinished
"uhh that's a Tuesday" hahaha
I was wondering why you were a “weird pail girl.” And was like, is it cuz she’s crying in a pail? Then I realized you meant “weird PALE crying girl.” 😂😂
Also, I have to admit. I tend to find people who gesticulate a lot to be mildly irritating, but your hand motions I find to be actually very cute and quite graceful too!! Some booktubers I just listen to and occasionally do other things as I listen but when it’s you i always am sure to pay attention cuz you’re really a joy to watch!
Recommendation: please, PLEASE read the Watergiver Trilogy by Glenda Larke! It’s so good and no one I know has read it! It’s dark adult high fantasy. Based on your reading history I feel like you’d really like it!
Love your channel and videos!!
Ok so I went straight to Amazon to look up this author. Thanks!
Hahah yes, graphic novels definitely boost your goodreads number!
I love reading but I have hard time deciding what book to read 😂💖
i usually like to get about 100-150 pages through a book before i decide to put it down to see if i’m engulfed yet. if not, it’s probably not too compelling
True about the goodreads, I always want to win my challenge but I ended up DNFing books
I make myself read to page 100. If I don’t like it by then, I LEAVE!
Have you read ‘The Philosophers Flight’? Worth a shot if you haven’t.
I can't DNF books, I gotta keep going cause it will leave me on edge if I don't finish it haha.
Ah I got a few bookish friends, but because I read so many books that they don't, it's lonely asf
I don't lend out books anymore. At all.
When I lend books to people I typically don't get them back...
If you start a book on good reads as ‘currently reading’ but then you end up DNFing it...do you mark it as ‘read’ or what do you do?? 🙂
I mark it as Want to read and then delete from that list. Or if I absolutely hated it and think that nobody should read it, mark it as read and in the comment write that I dnfed it and why 📚
Harry Potter is my go to reading slump book
Or just cheat and decrease your Goodreads goal at the end of the year. Two years ago I wanted to read 40 books during 2017 and I just could not bring myself to do it, so I just stopped when I reached 15 in July and ended the year at that number.
i used to loan all my sweet valley university books to my friend in h.s. and she would crack the spine and it killed me 🤣
The Raven Cycle is in the wrong order and I can’t.
5:19 "negative gain" ...so a loss? 😅
hiii... i noticed you called monica they/them is that their pronouns or was it just the way it was worded? i just wanna make sure bc monica is a cool human from why i see in your videos!
List makers/mood readers we do exist 😂
What Hogwarts house? This video felt very Hufflepuff...
if you quote Hilary Duff's music you are so my people! 😁♪let the rain fall down♫
Not sure you that used the word “digress” appropriately. Not trying to be a jerk about it, but i hate when I use words incorrectly so just try‘na help a girl out.
I caught this too, I looked up the definition to see if maybe I had been using the word incorrectly myself lol.
4:16 _Oh_ wow that made me cringe XD That's not how you pronounce c'est la vie, silly! Well, it is kinda, but lacking in accent.
Why are you so loud?
Turn the volume down 🤷🏼♀️
Heirofbooks I think they’re saying this as the slang for “why is everything you’re saying literally me/relatable/calling me out”! :)
No, she is just a loud talker, even when I turn down the volume. She doesn’t understand you don’t need to yell at the camera for the microphone to pick it up. I hope she isn’t like this when not in front of a camera.
@@someguy23475 don't watch her man, this just comes off as rude
@@milkteaful you're nice for believing in people but unfortunately, I think he is just rude 😂
