    Hi Mike, I found your video by looking for some advice on how to clean up audio that is recorded over the phone. I tried the techniques here and found a minor improvement. Do you have any extra tips on how to improve the sounds quality from a cell phone call recorded onto a Zoom H4N? Thank you...and your videos are incredibly well done, concise and helpful. Thank you.

    Hi Mike. Love your channel. I use the ENCN method to give my voiceovers a clearer sound. Where is the best place for the noise gate to fall when using that method? Before ENCN or after it? The far, I’ve been doing it after ENCN but wanted to get your thoughts.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 роки тому

      Hi Tom, I would recommend it goes first before ENCN to remove the noise. Be careful when setting it so it's not obvious.

    Amazing! Fixed so much! Now here' s a question... it sounded better when I took the compression out and used match loudness instead. Does that sound right? I create immersive stories so music and sound effects are constant.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 роки тому +1

      There's no 100% correct way to produce audio and it depends exactly on what you're actually producing. From what you're saying I'd agree that you should remove the compression from an immersive story and leave the dynamic range.

      If you record decent quality audio and follow any of the processing and editing tutorials (except noise reduction which does reduce quality) on the channel then you will get high quality audio at the end.

    Quick question - on the parametric equalizer, would you boost the high frequencies on a female voice also? Or, would you consider a low pass?

    • @MikeRussell

      EQing each voice is different so there's no general answer I'm afraid

    should i start my recording session (recording rap vocals on a beat and upload it later on youtube) at 44,1khz or 48khz

    • @sjbechet1111
      @sjbechet1111 2 роки тому

      It will make such a small difference it will be very hard to hear - for most impossible. Most pro video records audio at 48k that's the only reason I use it - I can't hear the difference. Don't know anyone who can.

    A request for the impossible? Is there a way to audio match either in Premiere Pro or Audition in the same way PP has the 'Colour Match' tool to auto match to separate video clips to look the same. Is there a tool to make two different audio clips sound the same? I ask because I have a 'perfect' voice audio clip and I'd love to make all my other audio clips of the same person speaking sound the same. They were recorded with a Rode Wireless Go mic on a GH5 at the same time in the same room but for some reason there's only one clip which sounds brilliant and the rest don't sound quite so good. I've played around with the parametric equaliser but I can't get them to match up. I wondered if Adobe had created a tool to do this for me. And if they haven't maybe they could / should? Apologies for the long message. Love the tutorials as always.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 роки тому

      This is not a feature that could be achieved automatically I'm afraid.

      @@MikeRussell hi Mike. Thanks for replying 🙏. Will keep practicing with the parametric equaliser. Cheers.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 роки тому

      Bear in mind the voice may also have been compressed which will also affect the sound you're trying to achieve.
      Your best option is to open the frequency analysis window and capture a print from the audio you like and you can work towards getting close to that with the other audio.

    • @lettochfilms
      @lettochfilms 2 роки тому

      @@MikeRussell that's kind thanks Mike. But sadly way beyond my level of comprehension of using Audition. Just been on your website. Wondering if the Premiere Pro presets might help me. I see you have one for the Rode Wireless Go mic. Would very happily purchase that if it might help. In fact I'll buy it anyway to support your channel as your tutorials have been massively helpful in recent times. Cheers.

      I can't guarantee that the presets could make all the recordings sound the same if they all start being recorded with very different settings.
