    People choose to buy gold for various reasons, such as it’s historical role as a store of value and medium of exchange, it’s potential as a hedge against inflation or currency devaluation, and it’s relative scarcity compared to other commodities. Gold also offers diversification benefits to investment portfolio due to its low correlation with stocks and bonds. However, investing in gold carries risks and may not be suitable for everyone. Investors should carefully evaluate their objectives, risk tolerance and financial situation before deciding.

      Investing in gold is a reliable choice, and I plan to keep buying more to make up for my losses. While silver, stocks and digital currencies are also good investment, my collectibles are not as similar. It's important to have clear investment goals and educate yourself on the type of investment that interests you..

      Yes, gold is a great investment and a good bet against the devaluating dollar, been holding some for awhile now, I’m grateful my adviser’s moment by moment changes in the market are lightening quick, cos who know how much losses I would’ve had by now.

      Ideally. But the market, stable or volatile determines what money is. It used to be salt. And it's multi polar and volatile evidently. So participation is key.

    • @gwynedd1
      @gwynedd1 4 місяці тому

      Could be because of flaws in your argument. . Lots of things can be money like copper(that was Rome's money) or goats. Lewis and Clark used powder, guns and booze. What is used in the denomination trade is money. Some of those things have positive reinforcement like gold, silver, copper and goats. Those tend not to need the power of authority and are thus stable and psychologically appealing. Using negative reinforcement is cheap ans efficient but unstable because it only works as long as the regime lasts. The dollar is a debt instrument and a get out of jail card, and a less stable and psychologically oppressive avoidance driven effect based on negative reinforcement. Gold and silver are a relatively ideal forms of it but has its weaknesses. Gold's curse is rehypothecation . When was the last time anyone asked for delivery? Copper on the other hand had a short squeeze because someone actually made them deliver it. Its complicated.

      If it can be taxed, we STILL don't own it. This is why it is so important that there be NO capital gains taxes due on holding gold and silver. They are MONEY,
      not collectibles. Government causes inflation via their monetary and fiscal policies. Why are we responsible for the inflation that government creates when
      WE had nothing to do with creating it? Same goes for a home and any tax that is due on the "increase" in value due to government caused inflation. It's all a

    Collectible Gold Coins ... are only traded among a very small number of collectors. You will be paying a HUGE, HUGE premium. If there is an urgency to liquidate such Collectible Coins .. the huge. huge premium paid, is not recoverable. Collectibles can only be sold at a profit ... at only Good Times, where Collectors have access to plenty of free available cash. Ordinary people should just purchase Buffalos or Maple Leaf, definitely not Gold Collectible Coins ... avoid them, otherwise prepare not be sell them.

    Newbie here, I’m a working man and have two jobs. I would like to buy some silver and maybe some gold.
    Some questions:
    -What does the term “pre 33” mean?
    -Is it better to buy silver blank rounds, or the little bullion bars or stamped coins?
    -what type of gold should one buy starting out to get a tangible collection going?
    -gold is gold, what makes one ounce 24k gold coin more expensive than another 24k coin of same weight?
    -same question for silver.
    I don’t have but a few thousand $ to spend at this time but I want to get the most bag for the buck.
    If you reply please address each question specifically.

    As a coin collector, I only buy pre-1933 gold in PCGS or NGC holders. The premiums are only slightly higher, or often very close to AGEs or other gold bullion coins when buying very common dates in the lower MS grades (MS AU58-63). The Liberty double eagles are my favorite. The holdered gold is a bit bulkier to store, but you have the grading services that have authenticated the gold which lends a lot of liquidity and homogenity for pricing.

    Collectable coins are totally different animals. The premiums are much higher because of the numismatic factor. It depends on how rare the coin is and it's preserved condition. Whoever doesn't know/understand numismatics should not burn their money buying such collectable gold coins. It takes a lot knowledge. And when you turn such coins to a dealer, they will pay you the price of spot gold anyway. This is not wise unless you know numismatics and market. Just buy normal bars, maple leaves, eagles, etc.

    • @edb3877
      @edb3877 4 місяці тому

      @@danielbbq Not everyone sees that strategy as beneficial to their own financial plan. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't a good idea for everyone.
      But one thing in all this is clear: knowledge of the numismatic market and any coins that one buys had better be reality or one can waste a lot
      of their cash chasing so-called collectibles that turn out not to have any special value over spot. Just remember this - not all old gold qualifies
      as being of numismatic value. Simply being old is not sufficient, although it is necessary. Wade through the gold sections of the IRS web site
      sometime. It's near-complete lack of clarity on this issue is truly amazing. As for myself, I want ounces and not promises of extra value or
      protection from the small possibility of a confiscation. I do not see gold confiscation as being especially likely these days. Gold is not
      circulated as money any more, so why enrage gold owners by even attempting to confiscate (read steal) it. Only a few percent of the US public
      actually own ANY gold, other than perhaps a few pieces of jewelry and / or some gold dental work. Those who do are more likely to just bury it
      when threatened with theft by government. Finally, this is a very litigious society and you can believe that a snow-storm of law suits would be
      launched at any government even attempting a gold theft from We the People. There are many people who would be financially injured by any
      such attempt, including coin shops, jewelers, people running coin shows, gold miners, gold sellers, etc. Maybe even foreign governments would
      get involved, making this whole thing very messy, time consuming, expensive, and of dubious result.

I am selective in what I buy and it usually only costs a little over bullion. How can the government confiscate gold if they don’t know you have it? When you buy from your local coin dealer, no information is exchanged. Everything is done in cash.

    • @suburbanpioneer5629
      @suburbanpioneer5629 3 місяці тому +4

      The way I understand it is that you will have a window of time to exchange your gold for their stated price. Once that window closes, gold is then illegal to own, sell, exchange, etc. and you can face fines and/or jail time for possessing. You can't buy food with it, pay your electric bill with it, pay real estate tax with it. It becomes worthless except for black market type exchanges. I think the key is diversify. Own a home free and clear, and make energy saving improvements. Have a full pantry and learn to garden. Have fiat in several different banking institutions, and some in a mattress. Have physical precious metals, and freedom seeds.
