When you get older, you realise there is so much more to the people you grew up watching ... and they become even greater ... Granville, Del Boy, and Frost
Got me through the days waiting for my useless dad to wake up from his drunken mess too. Clearly helping the mums at night and the kids in the morning 😅
Fantastic, well conducted interview. James's timely questions and occasional interjections brought out the best from David Jason, who was totally engrossing. Well done
Now most copies are lost, but Do Not Adjust Your Set was a favourite. Not only David Jason but some of the Monty Python lot and the Bonzo Dog Band. I tore home from school the days it was on.
What a great interview! Those were the days! I remember wanting to go on a school trip, my parents could not afford it, I went out to work at the age of 13, paid for the trip and have done the same ever since! Now I work with some high profile folk, who appreciate my down to earth, this is the way it works and you follow or you dont. Presidents, first ladies, A lister Hollywood stars, makes no difference, they appreciate that "work ethic".
Strange to think now that Sir David wasn't the first choice to play Del Boy. Enn Reitel didn't fancy it and Jim Broadbent (who eventually played Slater) couldn't do it because he was doing a show in the West End.
Loveky man. You've got me through some dark times over the years Sir David with Only Fools And Horses. ❤️😁 I think i hold the record you know for watching the complete series hundreds of times. Literally. I've got the lovely dvd boxdet.
Seconds Out is one of my all time favourite live albums. It's actually "Listen to the old one speak" but I'm being pedantic and splitting hairs, your point still stands. 😊
True Icon. Sadly no mention of nick lyndhurst, no stories of buster merryfirld or Lenard Pearce. It would have been nice to hear behind the scenes ofah stories
I assume the vague 2 second reference to children's television is Mr O'Brien's way of dismissing Danger Mouse and Count Duckula. Two brilliantly written and performed series and both deserving of equal praise to pretty much everything else Sir David has done.
The fact he barely mentioned his most famous character in Del Boy suggests that isn't the case at all. I think he rather relished the challenge of conducting an interview that illuminated the lesser known aspects of his career. More getting at the heart of the man.
Come on James. After his last comment about wishing to embody the character of a future cartoon character and then calling out for a dream job. How did you not finish on "This time next year"
Lovely interview, but left slighly frustrated that DJ didnt have time to develop why he wanted to play Frost. He made that a standout series by the little idiosyncracies he brought to the character. Wouldve been nice to hear more on that, but overall a cracking podcast
Where do i begin, i am out with my dogs for a walk, and i literally just started robbing while listening to this. We will never see the likes again. I am 38. Just about pulled my self together to type this
James definitely needed a small break after such heartwrenching topics, which make you feel sick as human and feel guilty ourselves of just watching these things happen
James could have made an effort with his appearance, been a bit smarter looking, I mean he is interviewing one of our most successful actors, if he can't show the respect for David Jason then he's no hope
James is the perfect interviewer: does his research, and intelligently and sympathetically conducts his interview.
This is an absolute joy - thank you David Jason for entertaining us for these last decades.
And thank you James for this lovely interview!
When you get older, you realise there is so much more to the people you grew up watching ... and they become even greater ... Granville, Del Boy, and Frost
Superb interview by James. Puts Jason totally at his ease.
Infinite love for David Jason ❤
Inspector Frost in the wee hours of the morning got me through an abusive situation
Got me through the days waiting for my useless dad to wake up from his drunken mess too. Clearly helping the mums at night and the kids in the morning 😅
As soon as I heard Sir David start speaking so many great memories came flooding back. What a legend
I had no doubts he wouldn't be, but what a beautiful man.
Fantastic, well conducted interview. James's timely questions and occasional interjections brought out the best from David Jason, who was totally engrossing. Well done
I would love to have heard him speak aboit his memories of John Sullivan and Nicholas Lyndhurst and other Only Fools And Horses cast.
Great interview. Sir David Jason a legend and Humble and down to Earth man.
Couldn't have said it better myself
Couldn't get into his biography but love anything this man does
OFAH! still watch it from time to time.
Well done, great to see an extended interview that does justice to this great actor! Thankyou
wonderful as Skullion in Porterhouse Blue,I would say that was one of DJ's greatest performances not surprising he won the Best Actor BAFTA for it
Sir David Jason, national treasure.
Absolutely ❤️
'You do like fiddling with things---' 'Pardon?!'
The art, and the craft - and a master of both...
Legend is an overused word, but sometimes it's entirely appropriate. This is one of those times. I properly love David Jason.
Now most copies are lost, but Do Not Adjust Your Set was a favourite. Not only David Jason but some of the Monty Python lot and the Bonzo Dog Band. I tore home from school the days it was on.
What a brilliantly interesting interview. David Jason, another National Treasure. Thank you both.

Fine interview getting to the heart of DJ and the magical audience connection we know so well.
David Jason is a global treasure.
Loveky man. You've got me through some dark times over the years Sir David with Only Fools And Horses. ❤️😁 I think i hold the record you know for watching the complete series hundreds of times. Literally. I've got the lovely dvd boxdet.
My hero legend, Sir David Jason, Del Boy, Granville, Jack Frost, the best shows he ever did in my opinion.
Really enjoyed this.👍
Theres a great line in a Genesis song, Cinema Show, "listen to the old man speak ,of all he has been through " ❤
Or P.F. 'the memories of a man in his old age are the deeds of a man in his prime'
Seconds Out is one of my all time favourite live albums.
It's actually "Listen to the old one speak" but I'm being pedantic and splitting hairs, your point still stands. 😊
Wonderful interview 👏

Legend ❤
What a talented man. Great stuff.
Wonderful at business, leaning on a bar that’s NOT there‼️ Classic😘
Fabulous !!!! well done !
I enjoyed that. Thank you James and of course, thank you Sir David, you've always been there to make me smile.
The biggest cure for depression
His Great Voice Acting was Great Too.
He was both Dangermouse and Count Duckula.
You should of asked him why he has super injunctions on the go.
What a legend
That was outstanding James
I assume the vague 2 second reference to children's television is Mr O'Brien's way of dismissing Danger Mouse and Count Duckula. Two brilliantly written and performed series and both deserving of equal praise to pretty much everything else Sir David has done.
David Jason’s Mr Toad will always be my definitive Toad voice. And the entire WitW series still entertains me now as much as it did then
The fact he barely mentioned his most famous character in Del Boy suggests that isn't the case at all. I think he rather relished the challenge of conducting an interview that illuminated the lesser known aspects of his career. More getting at the heart of the man.
Count Duckula himself 😮
I've still got them all on DVD
Watched it when I got home from school. And Dangermouse. And Wind In The Willows. Happy memories 😊
Come on James. After his last comment about wishing to embody the character of a future cartoon character and then calling out for a dream job. How did you not finish on "This time next year"

Wonderful
Fantastic!! Can you get Nicholas Lyndhurst and Tony Banks from Genesis and Mike Rutherford from Genesis and Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel. Thanks
Great episode

Excellent chat😉
Did he speak about his flying hobby with his mates Albert Tarnow and Derek Sear?
Brillant in every role.Frost screened in Italy.Superb acting.
Luvlly Jubbly ❤
Danger Mouse.
Count Duckula.
The BFG.
You’re, right, he was the voice of the BFG.
Right or Left?
Amazing. I genuinely thought he had died years ago.
James definitely needed a small break after such heartwrenching topics, which make you feel sick as human and feel guilty ourselves of just watching these things happen
As requested by dan wotton
The Wind in the Willows
That’s right
David Jason was Mr Toad
Anyone else reading the comments about JoBs behaviour to certain of his LBC colleagues?
James could have made an effort with his appearance, been a bit smarter looking, I mean he is interviewing one of our most successful actors, if he can't show the respect for David Jason then he's no hope
Or perhaps simply, David Jason?
An absolute legend in Sir David Jason sitting with an absolute tool in James O’Brien.
Your channel is one of the few that really enjoys the quality of content. Keep it up!🍂😻🔲
Can we have a version of this with everything James O'Beech says cut out? Be a massive improvement.
Oooh…a little harsh?!…☺️
Give it a rest @JwayT. 🙄
@gavinbuck8130 or what nick?
I think this interview could age badly in a few years....
Poor Sir David ,having to listen to that .
Or perhaps just David?
sad comment from a sad f....r

Isn't David Jason jewish? Maybe you should check that first.
whys that matter?
Why would that matter? He’s a national treasure.
@@BrokenSpirit99 look at the news
No he is not Jewish. His father is English, a fish monger and his mother is Welsh, she didn’t learn to speak English until she was an adult.
