Mr. H and Friends hosted family for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Their video drops on Wed for that so you can see another British couple do it up right. They dropped a video making green bean casserole for the first time on Sunday if you're interested to see it done.
What tickled me the most was the families reaction to the sweet potato casserole!! So many Brits see it and think "disgusting", but once they try it.....they seem to love it as much as we do! There is another channel of 3 brothers, "Raygo Bloom" that I have started watching. They did a first Thanksgiving dinner also and they really liked most of the dinner. They hated the deviled eggs, which I don't understand, but they really did a nice job on the traditional dinner.
@@daricetaylor737 I saw that one. The one's wife did all the cooking and did a fabulous job but I'm totally with them on the deviled eggs. That's too much yolk going on. I can't stand sunny side up or over easy eggs for that reason. Scrambled is my way or the highway option, lol.
It's just me and my Husband, but I always make at least a 20lb turkey. this year i got a 22 pounder. it's on sale because of thanksgiving so it's 80 cents a pound, which is a steal. The leftover turkey will go into all sorts of meals, sandwiches, soups, enchiladas, tacos etc. so it's a great opportunity to knock down the cost of meals for the next week or 2. and if you shread the meat and pop it in the freezer, it lasts a bit longer and is quick to thaw and add for any sort of meal. (Always, always, always brine the turkey, no dry turkey allowed) Orange and cranberries go together like cinnamon and apples. it makes it so much better. I also add some orange zest, ground clove and cinnamon to my cranberry sauce.
This thanksgiving dinner looks good. Very simple though. We spend a whole day prepping the food and then a second day actually cooking the food on the day of Thanksgiving. Everything must be fresh. I don't think British people are too keen on eating leftovers the way we are. My sister in law lives in Wales and their refrigerator is 1/4 the size of ours and she really has no room for the amount of leftovers that most American families would have. We usually cook a huge turkey, ham and at Christmas a $200 rib roast. And at least 2 different types of pies and cakes. We eat leftovers for a week or more. I love have a house full of guest at Thanksgiving (and Christmas) and letting them take all of the food home with them when they leave. Kai and Alice, I am willing to bet that you would get dozens of invitations from your American subscribers, to share Thanksgiving with them in their home. I certainly would love to have you if you happen to be in the Seattle area on Thursday. lol... ♥ gobble, gobble!! 🦃🦃
We go crazy on Thanksgiving there's enough food to feed an army. Food coma is a real thing. I enjoyed this post can't wait to see you prepare yours. Sending love from Florida
We pronounce pasta that way because it is the correct Italian pronunciation. Americans are taught to use the correct pronunciation in the native language of the word. That's why the FILET is pronounced FI LAY in American English. Remember FILET is a French word. Thus the French pronunciation is used.
I have used this lady's slow cooker recipes in the past and they have been very good. This is just me but I would just buy some good yeast rolls and use my own precious energy to make sweet potato casserole and maybe a corn dish, lol. But that's just me! Great reaction!
Cowboy Kent makes some good and entertaining videos. I know a lot of British people on UA-cam that are starting to watch Cowboy Kent, because they want to learn how to cook American dishes like corn dogs, Philly cheesesteaks, cowboy big macs, steak fingers, biscuits and gravy and the list goes on from there. Jolly just had their first Thanksgiving meal in the UK, made by an American. These brothers that I watch from Raygo Bloom Mukbangs just made their first Thanksgiving meal and they live in the UK.
Simple but all there. Looks fantastic. You can go crazy on the sides, but this is the basic minimum. I would be completely happy with this as my Thanksgiving dinner. Of course this Thanksgiving I'll be dining with friends who go all out and I made a huge pot (3 quarts!) of cranberry sauce with black cherries, pomegranates and lemon marmalade. My friends already know I'm bringing it so no one else needs to make the cranberries. I'll freeze some of it and give it separately as a house gift so they can have it next week, and I'll freeze some for myself, too.
The orange juice enhances the cranberries. That mac n cheese does look good but it also looks dry. We love creamier mac n cheese. Corn starch is what you call corn flour.
Colby Jack is just a blend of Colby cheese with Monterrey Jack about half way thru ripening. I'm not sure the use in Mac & Cheese but follow her directions. I would make a suggestion you make 3, 4, or 5 items from Thanksgiving. Making a full-spread Thanksgiving isn't hard. Many are simple in fact. But the prep will wear you out for 8 or 9 dishes.
Colby-Jack cheese is a mixture of Colby cheese and Monterey Jack cheese. You really should consider trying a full turkey rather than parts. The bones add so much flavor and I think it helps to keep the turkey from drying out so much. We always vacuum pack the extra turkey and freeze it for later dinners. Then I boil down the scraps and bones to make turkey and dumplings, which always seems to please my family more than the original turkey did on Thanksgiving day!
Good evening y'all. I hope you're well. My family doesn't care for turkey so we grill steaks. That's not exactly traditional but a lot of people also prepare ham if they don't care for turkey. One thing she didn't make that I think is required for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner is green bean casserole. It's very simple to make. Just a couple of cans of French cut green beans. You can use any green beans fresh really doesn't matter on the cut that traditionally they are French cut or shoestring cut green beans. Can of cream of mushroom soup. Baked with crispy French onions on top. Super duper easy. Pecan, or pumpkin pie for dessert.❤
My family serves all the dishes you see here, but also includes: sauerkraut, corn pudding, kielbasa w/ beets & horseradish sauce, peas and lima beans. Of course we have pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie and apple pie for dessert. And for Christmas, we do everything the same, but add a nice ham, as well. Luck with your cooking. Always enjoy your posts, btw.
I love a good roast chicken. Once I've stopped dragging my heels and finish the kitchen we'll definitely be making videos of our English roast and many American favourites.

Excellent suggestion tinahairston6383, I watched that video, Mrs. H. did her green bean casserole wonderfully!
@@janethernandez724 she really did.

Colby Jack is a blend of Colby cheese from Wisconsin and Monterey Jack cheese from California.
Exactly, an orange and white marble appearance and it tastes so good too.
The pies we make and bake the day before thanksgiving.

I'm by myself, and i do exactly the same thing. If you like turkey {i do }, it's a very good thing to do.
Easiest Thanksgiving meal ever...good and fresh. Didn't take all day either.

Haha, unfortunately we're not likely to be nearby by Thursday.. would have definitely grabbed a free meal otherwise though! 😊

Dressing is a must for me. Love it!
This is a very simple menu for Thanksgiving.
The sides can vary from home to home and from region to region.😊
To be traditional, you would need dressing/stuffing, but it looked good.
Love stuffing! Thanksgiving feels like a warm up before Christmas, I can't wait!
The orange juice enhances the cranberries.

Oh that's a really good idea, never thought to vacuum pack left overs. Dumplings are a way to anyone's heart, that's for sure! :)
Yup but we do some Italian dishes also it depends on the part of country you live in and your family’s background n traditions
Corn starch is corn flour in the UK.
This is unrelated, but your book came in the mail today and my mom is going to put it in her classroom! ❤
That's awesome! We hope they like it! 😍
I really wish you two could come to my grandma's house for thanksgiving dinner.

As someone that has made Thanksgiving Dinner Many Many Times; THERE IS NOTHING EASY ABOUT IT!!!! LOL
Mashed potatoes, are sometimes referred to as whipped potatoes, because of using a mixer. Same end result, just slightly different texture.
You can make some chickens in between to practice. The gravy goes well with chicken too if you like it
I love a good roast chicken. Once I've stopped dragging my heels and finish the kitchen we'll definitely be making videos of our English roast and many American favourites.
Bingo!! On point 👇
I was going to buy a turkey breast but a whole turkey was cheaper 49 cents a pound.
mashing potatoes like that turns them into lead. was a fireman and lazy cooks do that
First PEACE LOVE /*\ TRUE NORTH
Interesting. The OCD in me can't stand the food touching (LOL).
Or you coukd just use a large chicken ir 2 and stuff it instead.
Omg just a turkey breast yeah hard pass a whole turkey 🦃 or nothing! Best part of the turkey is the dark meat
Using the mixer is definitely the way to mash potatoes.
I believe you do call corn starch “corn flour” over there.
