Yea, it was a special video released on UA-cam just after it aired in Japan. Thank God for that because we had to wait more than 7 fu**ing hours for Crubchyroll to air it.
Yea that specific vid has ended up spoiling so many ppl curious about the show.
It's quite common in anime for series with more than 12 to 13 episodes, typically around 24, to feature two distinct opening sequences. This is often structured so that when the episode count doubles, the season is effectively split into two parts. Each part then features its own unique opening theme.
The first half of the season will have one opening, setting the tone and introducing viewers to the themes and characters of the show. Then, as the season progresses and the story evolves, the second half introduces a new opening, reflecting the developments and possibly shifting the focus or tone of the series.
However, there can sometimes be a gap or break between the release of the two parts of the season. Nonetheless, this practice of having two openings for a 24-episode anime is quite standard and allows for refreshing the viewing experience while keeping viewers engaged throughout the entire season.
"Attack on Titan" perfectly exemplifies this pattern. The first season's 25 episodes feature two openings, while the second season, with only 12 episodes, has just one. Then, in the third season's 22 episodes, we're back to two openings. The fourth season follows suit with its 28 episodes, maintaining the two-opening tradition.
After those 28 episodes, there are two specials serving as a finally for the series. One runs for an hour, the other for an hour and a half. These specials don't include openings but each has its own unique ending. The penultimate opening you saw was actually an AMV music video for the penultimate ending of the series. Not an opening. The images that you could see in this opening were therefore much more spoiler-y. They were simply cut together scenes from the actual episode, while all the other actual openings had their own animated videos. And not scenes from the actual series used.

Even if he got spoiled, he can still watch it, lol. Fans get so crazy about spoiling, but nobody that has been spoiled ever predicted the hundreds of plots and twists. I personally prefer Sub usually ( except for Death Note), but just do whatever is easier for you to follow the story because it's complex and complicated af. It's one of the best shows ever, though. My personal favorite used to be Red Swan ( the 3rd season part 1 ), but after the finale, it's now Under The Tree. ❤

What I think I love most about AoT is it's nuance. Like, there are not many if any objectively "good" or "bad" guys in this series. Only people with differing views and perspective.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WATCH THE DUB IF YOU DO WATCH IT!!! (most will disagree but most watch the sub for the wrong reason and to push that on other people for THAT reason.....thats a crime lol)
the reason is because too many people who say to watch the sub just do it cuz they love japan THAT much and watch 99-100% of the anime that they do in sub JUST cuz its japanese, and then they paint it as better cuz the voice acting is SOOOOO much better in the sub, when it doesn't even matter when the script we read as english speakers in the sub has a 10x less impactful way of saying everything

I mean, I feel like he can watch it however it's easier, but there are rare times when the dub is better. AOT is better in Sub and a majority of the fandom can agree. The VAs are phenomenal. If you can't read fast and have a hard time understanding, do dub, but if you want better details and VAs, then Sub.
