These plugs worked perfectly for my 2024 Sienna after removing the middle seats! Brad gives fantastic customer service.....one of the plugs was defective and he sent a replacement BY AIR and it arrived the next day! Thank you so much, Brad! I'm loving the new, larger space thanks to your genius invention! 😁
I just bought a 2022 Sienna XSE. I purchased the 2 square dongles and 2 round dongles. When I took the seat cover off it had 3 wires instead of 2. I used the dongles on the 2 connectors that were yellow, one round one square. Left the 3rd one empty that was white. It worked great, no error light ! I left the rails in covered it with with an old dog bed to protect the lose wire ends. And then covered it with a rubber liner. Thanks Brad for this product.
Brad, you're a legend. Thanks for this video and for making a solution available, and thanks for cancelling my order when I requested you to do so. You're exactly the kind of person I like seeing do well on the internet.

Hi Brad, I ordered the product last week for my toyota sienna 8 seat xle model car. my vehicle has one yellow connector per seat. so a total of two yellow connectors. so I ordered two dongles. I read 150 comments in your video one by one to understand how to do it. In the end, I put the product in my car as you described, albeit with fear. and it worked. The airbag problem is gone from my screen. Thank you so much for developing such a great product. 👍👏😍
Absolutely fabulous videos showing and explaining the removal of 2nd row seats in a 4th generation Sienna! Some of the most clear and logical instructional videos I’ve ever seen - WELL DONE, BRAD!!! In your videos you mentioned that it’s a bit more difficult to remove the 2nd row seat rail carriages (but you didn’t say it is impossible). Have you done this and made an instructional video for it? I *really* need them out of the way for the flattest floor possible.
Want to buy a 2022 Sienna but the middle seat piece is problematic. Your solution for the 2021 is wonderful. Please post when you design the 2022 version. Great video.
Wow! Best example of how People can benefit from UA-cam. Thank you Brad! Now I'm reconsidering to buy latest Sienna. Toyota, you have to appreciate Brad's work. :)
You should share this on the 4Runner forums!! I love the option of taking out the front passenger seat for solo trips to open up space, but the airbag alert is extremely frustrating when off-roading. None of the forums had a good answer, and this is the perfect fix!!!

Brad - thank you so much for providing this solution and these videos about the Toyota Sienna 2nd row seat removal issue that Toyota simply won't address. I watched the two videos (the original about the removal of the seats) and this video and went ahead and ordered the appropriate Airbag Simulator solution from your website. I was so paranoid about going through video #1 steps and took my 2022 Sienna LE to one of the local (Tucson) Toyota dealers in town - they wanted to charge me 3 hours worth of labor a(!?!) nd would not assume liability issues of the removal of the seats and affects on the airbag power adapters - I went along with that and the seats were disconnected. Anyway, after that was done, they wouldn't touch your Simulator resistors so I followed your instructions in this video today: I removed the positive connection from the hybrid battery, plugged in the Simulator dongles - easy-peasy! Restored the positive connection terminal, started the Sienna back up without a problem, resolved the door opening issues, and NO More airbag malfunction error messages! So, the end result: the 2nd row seats are removed, the airbag warning messages are gone, and I have a huge amount of cargo space available. A funny thing is: I was texting with the Toyota service representative about the removal process and even sent the UA-cam links to your videos - they still stood by "liability" issues. Again, thanks for your research and work on developing the Simulator dongle - a truly elegant solution.

@@plumedargent4459 hi, it was a 2021 (I sold it because I didn’t need a van anymore). It only required 2 dongles, one for each middle seat. What are you referring to by the “3rd plug”?

I was about to break out the calipers and make my own but i dont see a reason to reinvent the wheel. You made my car camper build in my Toyota CHR way easier.
THANK YOU very much for this solution. I have the 2021 XSE sienna and had to get the seats removed for cargo. The permanent warning is so annoying. You are very ingineous. I'm ordering your product.
These work great we have 3 2022 sienna mini. Vans that had the 2nd row seats removed for and engineering project and no one would tell us how to turn off the airbag light then I found brads site it shoveled the problem.
Thanks for the video Brad! I would love to see the ottoman conversion tutorial. My family is considering buying a new Sienna to replace our old Honda Odyssey. We want to get the ottoman seats; however, we also want AWD. I will definitely consider donating!
Bought a '24 Sienna, removed the seats. I was horrified to discover on my model (XLE 7 seater) there are three connectors to the middle row seat, not two. However, plugged the round and rectangular dongles in and left the white big one alone and it worked perfect! Don't worry about the third (big white) connector.
Thank you so much Brad for posting this how-to. This was my biggest worry about removing the second row seats and I too can breathe easier knowing the airbag system should perform as designed.
Are you or anyone sure the airbag system will work properly from its original intention without this dongle being tested repeatedly? Seems like an unnatural scenario for this vehicle imho, hard to say too, cuz now I’ve decided not to get the Sienna hybrid because of this issue. This is tricky territory. We are talking lifesaving safety sophistication. I don’t think should be messed with. Toyota totally fumbled here. I’m out!
Hey Brad. Once the seats are removed and the dongles added could I later attach the seats back in place without having to connect the wires back and remove the dongles? I don't want to trigger anything as I will be constantly removing and reattaching the seats.
Yes, but keep in mind your seats will not have airbag functionality if you do this. I'd rather hot-plug the airbags than do this. The airbag connector has a built-in protection mechanism against accidental discharge. The risk of not having airbag is bigger than accidental discharge.
Went to order the dongles -- thanks for the heads up on not being compatible for the 2022 models yet. Let us know when that pretensioner fix is in place!!
Ty for your helpful videos and products! I don't know if it would be helpful for your ottoman project, but I will soon have two unused second row captain's seats from my 2023 awd hybrid sienna (platinum) available in Boston, MA....
Thanks Brad for your dedication, passion and innovation for the engineering solutions. Big Thumb UP!!! By the way, Brad's simulator plugs also work for 2022 Sienna all models. I have a 2022 Sienna LE, works great! Let's all subsribe and share Brad's passion!
Hi. I have a toyota sienna 2022 xle model vehicle. How did you install these simulator plugs? A mechanic removed the seats. I see srs airbag system malfunction error on the screen now. What should I do before installing these plugs?
I believe the middle seats with ottoman are available on the AWD Sienna, top 2 model trims at least for the 2022 model. However, if you choose the spare tire option, the middle seats lose the ottoman. Not quite sure why, but the're likely some good reason
I have a yellow notification that there are 2 seats with air bags not active and the red notification that I'm stupid and should check the rear seats for babies. Is there a way to shut either or both notifications off?
Thank you for video. I have a minivan to carry bikes. I have had two major fails with town and country so I will not buy another. However the con for the Sienna was the second row seats. I understand the process with help from you. But wondering about the rest of airbag system by using your attachment. I understand in your video you say to assume they will NOT work but wondering if you have found out anything more ?
Removing front passenger seat? Thank you so much for this video and creating the dongles! I just bought my 2021 Sienna LE and I would like to remove the front passenger seat as well as the 2nd and 3rd rows. Do you know which dongle I would need to fool the sensor on the front seat?
This is amazing! Considering getting a Sienna based on this!!! I have a 2024 Subaru Ascent and want to remove the 2nd row seat, but am running into the same problem. The Subaru dealership told me we couldn't remove the seat as it would disable all the airbags because of the "occupancy detection" in the chair. Do you happen to have these plugs for the Subaru Ascent?
Had to replace a front parking sensor on my 21 sienna (someone backed into it) I have a snap on diagnostic computer but can’t find anyway to calibrate the sensor so parking aid message comes on know anyway around this?
Brad looking forward to receiving air bag dongle for my 2021 sienna that I ordered today . Toyota dealer could not tell me how to turn off that warning light will let you know how it works when I receive. thanks John
Can someone please answer. Had a lady buy a 24 last week and we removed the captains chairs and want to tell her the right plugs to order. Every time i click the link half the site doesnt load and the drop down table does nothing , both on my phone and laptop. I was assuming 2 round and 2 square but dont want her ordering the wrong thing
Hi Brad, even after connecting the dongles I'm still seeing the SRS message (and I see the red icon of the airbag as well on the dashboard). I tried to disconnect the battery few times but nothing resets this message. Any suggestions?
Hey there. I installed one of your seat jumpers as I've only removed the left 2nd row seat. The SRS Airbag system malfunction warning remains on. I've ordered 2, as my final plan is to remove both seats for camping. Have you found a solution for this, as it was the whole point to buy these plugs...?
Have you looked into how to disable the automatic shutoff in “Ready” mode, which kicks in after about a hour? Apparently this is something new that Toyota put into all of their 2021 hybrids. Thanks!
The hybrid shut-off feature CAN be disabled, per the 2021 Sienna User Manual, Page 234: "After the vehicle is parked, if the door is locked with the door lock switch (P.135) from the inside or the mechanical key (P.504) from the outside, the automatic hybrid system shut off feature will be disabled. The timer for the automatic hybrid system shut off feature will be re-enabled if the driver’s door is opened." See pp. 234: s3.amazonaws.com/toyota.site.p01/toyota/manuals/OM08031U/OM08031U.pdf This means while camping you CAN allow the AC to run overnight while sleeping - without needing to idle the engine all night. According to a thread from another YT video (I can no longer find), when the car is pin Park and the hybrid system shutoff has been disable (hybrid system is ON), if AC is running the hybrid motor will turn on, run for 3 min. to recharge battery, then shut off for 9 min, then repeat that cycle indefinitely while AC runs. Hope that helps!
Hello, will this work on a 2022 Tundra? That lights comes on and off and it’s a bit annoying. Toyota dealership has made three different attempts to turn it off but keeps coming back on. Thanks
Do you still make these. I went to your website but when I choose the option to select it goes to a black error screen. I escort oversize loads across the nation for a living and took out the passenger seat. Would be amazing to have my display back to normal. Thanks
Hello, I've got a 23 Sienna I have removed the 2nd and 3rd row seats and the rails as well. I was wondering if I would be able to use similar dongles for that?
Hi Brad. Awesome videos about Sienna. Could you look into Sienna 2023 which actually have 3 plugs instead of 2 as in your Sienna. I would need 1 more of your plug ins. But not sure if this is the one you are sealing. Could you help. Please.
I'm going to remove my 2 middle seats on my 2021 sienna. Love your videos about this. I am completely ignorant about this stuff so I don't know how many of these plugs to order. Is it 1 per seat or 2 per seat? I saw a white and a yellow plug on each seat. If someone knows pleas let me know. I'm trying to get my sienna set up as a Pilot Car. Thanks!
Hey Brad, other than your solution on the 2nd row seats and their seat airbag; do you know how we can disable the rear curtain airbag (in the event of an accident and blasting DIY conversion stuff and shelves apart) or you know that will be disabled with the second row removed?
Brad, with the 2nd row removed, what are the dimensions of the space? Wanted to be able to inflate an airbed in the back for occasional overnight car camping
@@BradsHacks still confused with trying to get a dongle for my Sienna Limited. Is it 32 bucks per pair or per unit . Without taking my seat out, how should I determine what size dongle I need? One would think that it is dictated by the year and maybe the model type i.e,. limited vs. XLS... etc , etc... thanks again for all you do Brad.
How do you bypass the airbag message when you have removed the railing from the second row? I did have your dongle’s in before. But the message is back now.
Do you know of a “cap” or cover for this type of connector? I have a 23 Sienna with a BraunAbility wheelchair conversion and when the seat is removed this female connector is still dangling by the B pillar and I’d like something to seal it from potential moisture etc.
Great job! I plan to purchase a brand new Sienna recently. Unfortunately I can only get 2022 version. There is no new 2021 on the market. Brad, do you know if 2022 Sienna can use your resistors to get rid of the airbag error? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for this good work Brad. I'm thinking of turning my 2021 Sienna into a camper, so I would be driving for many months and many miles without the 2nd row seats. Your fix definitely eliminates the warning message about the airbags, but are you certain that it restores the function of all the other airbags in the vehicle? Thanks, Mike
Well, it would be hard to test without actually crashing the car. 😳 My guess is that if the airbag system thinks the 2nd row airbags are in place, nothing is wrong and the intact airbags should deploy as designed.
@@lak1294 exactly - so that's why I was making sure before I use your toggle. I've already ordered a couple and plan to do a rv conversion with my '21 Sienna. I have one other question. Have you thought about or played around with reversing the 2nd row seats? Can they be positioned to face backward with the existing brackets? Let me know if you have any thoughts.
Brad quick question. I purchased you resister. I have a wheelchair lift in the second row behind the passenger seat. Place it into the yellow airbag clip but the airbag warning sign is still on. What have I done wrong. By the way great video. You are to helpful.
Hey Brad, because there are two seats that means one will need two rounds and two squares plugs each for the two seat? Planning on doing mine soon. TIA
Is there a procedure I have to do to clear the light if it's already on? Plugged in the fodder and disconnected the battery for a few minutes, radio had to boot but airbag light stays on
Drivers seat on a 2015 Lexus RC, consulted a few sources beforehand and airbag resistor should be all I need. I do now think there's a position sensor that also needs to be bypassed @@BradsHacks
What I find interesting is that Toyota is allowing conversion companies to remove the seats with impunity but all consumers will void the warranty if the seats are removed.
I sell toyota ..there's not much one can do to suddenly void the warranty. The only time a malfunctioning part will not be covered is if it can be directly tied to the modification. So if your wheel bearings go out early and you've installed 2" spacers and 37 inch tires ..Likely won't be covered. But if your engine blows I doubt it will be tied to the removal of the captains chairs
What do van conversion companies do to get around this error? (ie wheelchair vans) Do they have a secret solution from Toyota? And thanks! This seems like an excellent solution. Toyota really should have made those seats removable.

@ thanks. So when we get the van, you will need trim level and tell us how many we need-white, yellow and black??? 4 for the 7 seater and 6 for the 8 passenger?? Is that correct? I read somewhere that Toyota added some sensors for 2025 that make it more difficult for them to work.. I hope not as Toyota is the way to go..

Awesome stuff man. Just ordered a pair for my 2020 GX460 second row seat delete. You rock!
Wow, you are extremely intelligent. The amount of critical thinking in this video was astounding.
I’m out!
This might actually be pretty useful for diagnosing electrical problems!
This is amazing, not an owner of a 2021 sienna. But this will definitely be useful for some people.
Oh, Good point! Thank you for the quick response.
Went to order the dongles -- thanks for the heads up on not being compatible for the 2022 models yet. Let us know when that pretensioner fix is in place!!
Apparently couple people say 2021 dongles working for 2022?
Well done videos and great work around. Toyota should have put in a bypass switch or given this as an option.
hi - has anyone determined if the other airbags still in vehicle are still going to work if necessary? thanks!
You can usually get the autumn in seats from one of the wheelchair conversion places and put them in there a couple 1000 bucks though
Hey, are you sure? Another guy saying not working properly for his 2022.
Mine didn’t work on our 2022
Hi. I have a toyota sienna 2022 xle model vehicle. How did you install these simulator plugs? A mechanic removed the seats. I see srs airbag system malfunction error on the screen now. What should I do before installing these plugs?
@@DaGubah501 To clarify, different trims of the 2022 need different dongles. Please refer to the table here: bradshacks.com/product/airbag-simulator/
@@BradsHacks so, what else should be done before plugging in the dongle?
I believe the middle seats with ottoman are available on the AWD Sienna, top 2 model trims at least for the 2022 model. However, if you choose the spare tire option, the middle seats lose the ottoman. Not quite sure why, but the're likely some good reason
Amazing stuff Brad! Impressive !!
Brad you are one smart man.
Great video!
You are genius. Couple questions though:
1. Will your invention work on Sienna 2023 XLE?
2. Are 2nd row seats removable for 2023 Sienna.
Thanks Brad.
Yes
Please email me (brad@bradshacks.com) or WhatsApp me (9093482331) with your order number, and we'll figure this out.
Hey there.
I installed one of your seat jumpers as I've only removed the left 2nd row seat. The SRS Airbag system malfunction warning remains on. I've ordered 2, as my final plan is to remove both seats for camping.
Have you found a solution for this, as it was the whole point to buy these plugs...?
@@BradsHacks I've sent you an email. 2021 Sienna Hybrid AWD, left 2nd row removal
@@frgibson any luck yet? My error is still on with a 2nd row set removed and round dongle installed.
Hey bud have you figured out the issue ? Iv installed 2 dongles to my 2022 and still seeing the message.
a question for you. can the meddle seat back be fold down 'flat' I tried to see almost all the videos and cannot not see middle seat back flat down
Hi. I have a 2022. The middle seats do not fold down flat. They only recline about as far as an economy airline seat.
I get the same warning but where can I find it to replace it
Have you looked into how to disable the automatic shutoff in “Ready” mode, which kicks in after about a hour? Apparently this is something new that Toyota put into all of their 2021 hybrids. Thanks!
I don't see an option to turn this off globally either, but the option on the popup can prevent it on a session-by-session basis.
The hybrid shut-off feature CAN be disabled, per the 2021 Sienna User Manual, Page 234:
"After the vehicle is parked, if the door is locked with the door lock switch (P.135) from the inside or the mechanical key (P.504) from the outside, the automatic hybrid system shut off feature will be disabled. The timer for the automatic hybrid system shut off feature will be re-enabled if the driver’s door is opened."
See pp. 234: s3.amazonaws.com/toyota.site.p01/toyota/manuals/OM08031U/OM08031U.pdf
This means while camping you CAN allow the AC to run overnight while sleeping - without needing to idle the engine all night.
Please.
I have created a solution for that. Please read bradshacks.com/product/airbag-simulator/
Awesome. Just read your info there. Thank you so much.
Thanks!
How or where do I safely store does cables after removing the seats and plugging emulator?
Btw, thank you so much for the amazing professional work.
Just ordered some 2.2 resistors for my 2011 sierra, fingers crossed.
Hey Brad, other than your solution on the 2nd row seats and their seat airbag; do you know how we can disable the rear curtain airbag (in the event of an accident and blasting DIY conversion stuff and shelves apart) or you know that will be disabled with the second row removed?
Thanks Brad when I buy my Sienna I will buy your dongle 1 step at a time ✌🏽😅 peace
Do you know if the 3rd row seats have an airbag that needs to be dealt with, or can I just remove seats and unplug the wire? Thanks
Brad, with the 2nd row removed, what are the dimensions of the space? Wanted to be able to inflate an airbed in the back for occasional overnight car camping
So the plug does work, but the new Prius requires a grey plug to also be connected. I’m not sure how to even go about checking for it.
great ...great instructional video!!
I just purchased a 2023 Sienna limited. How many dongles do i need... thanks, Noah
Please refer to the table on this page for the correct dongles for your Sienna: bradshacks.com/product/airbag-simulator/
Brad, great video. Thank you. I’m trying to purchase these on your website. Can you tell me if a 2012 Lexus IS uses the round or legacy version?
Excellent! Both vids done so well!
Hi Brad, By removing 2nd row seat and using bypass module will it void manufacturer warranty? And Thanks for the video it's really helpful.
No
Hi Brad, I disconnected the front passenger seat and put it right back, but still getting the air bag warning signal. any idea how to fix it?
Brad I hope you see this. I want to buy dongle before I pull seats on my 2022 sienna two doggles for each second row seat?
How do you bypass the airbag message when you have removed the railing from the second row? I did have your dongle’s in before. But the message is back now.
Brought 2, thanks so much. Have not taken the plunge. Has anyone experienced unanticipated problems with the system later on?
Do you know of a “cap” or cover for this type of connector? I have a 23 Sienna with a BraunAbility wheelchair conversion and when the seat is removed this female connector is still dangling by the B pillar and I’d like something to seal it from potential moisture etc.
Please email me some photos showing the connector and its surrounding environment, and I will try to devise a solution for you. brad@bradshacks.com
Great job! I plan to purchase a brand new Sienna recently. Unfortunately I can only get 2022 version. There is no new 2021 on the market. Brad, do you know if 2022 Sienna can use your resistors to get rid of the airbag error? Thanks in advance.
I just tried it in my 2022 and it doesn’t work
@@ericschwartz4747 It is bad news :( But I am really appreciate your sharing.
@@ericschwartz4747 that IS sad news!
@Brad Ling ? Any plans for an updated dongle???

@@ZenMika No - I was hoping someone smarter than me had already come up with a solution! :)
Brad quick question. I purchased you resister. I have a wheelchair lift in the second row behind the passenger seat. Place it into the yellow airbag clip but the airbag warning sign is still on. What have I done wrong. By the way great video. You are to helpful.
Tracy, I will contact you tomorrow privately to help solve this for you.
Brad, my 2023 sienna has three cable connectors underneath the seat. Any idea what the third one is for and do you make a resistor for it?
Hey Brad, because there are two seats that means one will need two rounds and two squares plugs each for the two seat? Planning on doing mine soon. TIA
Yes
Hi, it would work with 2007 lexus gs? Or the better question is which one of the versions would work on the 3rd gs? The same as the ES? Thank you
Is there a procedure I have to do to clear the light if it's already on? Plugged in the fodder and disconnected the battery for a few minutes, radio had to boot but airbag light stays on
What's your vehicle and which seat are you removing?
How do you reset / dismiss
the warning msg?
What do van conversion companies do to get around this error? (ie wheelchair vans) Do they have a secret solution from Toyota?
And thanks! This seems like an excellent solution. Toyota really should have made those seats removable.
Nice website. I’m considering purchasing a 2025 Limited or Platinum Hybrid. We car camp and really need to remove the seats. I don’t want to buy a Kia and am tired of timing belts with the Hondas.
Can you confirm that your dongles will work with the newest ones???
@@JTTTTx Yes this is confirmed
BRAD!! Great stuff, super helpful. Any plans on creating swivel seats in the Sienna? Just picked up a AWD 2021 and want to Swivel seat Driver and/or Passenger front seat. Any advice??
