I guess I'm one of the hundreds of thousands of Westerners who have fallen in love with Japan, it's people and culture. The Shinto ceremony was everything 😭 Thank you so much for sharing this personal event. See you in Ep 8.
Thanks for sharing, another really great video. The roof beams look fantastic, it’s really interesting to see them using a full log and just notching out a small section for posts to start from. Following the Japanese customs is very respectful and it is nice to see that you keep the Kamidana, I guess it stays with the house rather than new owners buying a new Kamidana
The full logs are seriously amazing. I love love love them. For the Kamidana I think it will depend on each person but in general I think that most people would probably not use someone else's. They would more likely drop it off at the local shrine for burning and get a new one. And that really is an 'i think' comment. But neither myself or Ichi is religious so we don't have strong feelings and that's a really nice Kamidana so we thought better to keep it and do a cleansing ceremony. Oh and also a lot of younger families don't have Kamidanas anymore, especially in modern houses.

Great episode! When in doubt, have the Gods on your side. For the van, what about Hotei, Takarabune, or Saraswati?
Nick how do you come up with these names!? They are by far the most random we have received ☺️
Name her "Cassandra"
Oh and although late to the naming ceremony, my van is named Van chan. Nice and simple 🤣
Oh I like that! We've actually just been calling her The Van so I might copy you and change to Van Chan, I really like that! Paul you are the WINNER!
@@KonnichiwaChannel1 I agree. Simple can be a game changer. My cats name is Neko chan
@@thatgirl3757 Thats so cute!
Name her miss daisy
Hey guys, the car's name should be Keko's! Lol
