Before you prescribe medication do you order a blood tea to find out brain enzymes and protein deficiency or for that mather cortisol elevated levels etc?
We typically try to rule out any obvious medical causes that can manifest with psychiatric symptoms but any extensive testing should be done and managed by your primary care physician and other specialists. So if a psychiatrist suspects a medical illness as a possible cause they may refer you back to your primary care to start the work up for that. I am usually not managing elevated cortisol levels or protein deficiencies but if it is suspected then you will need to see you primary care physician to help with the management of that.
