It's so awesome to see Serban at work, usually focused and dedicated. His mixes are amazing, no doubt. If anyone is facing this issue, the easiest solution to maintain the bass and most of the vocal's sonic integrity is to use SOOTHE. Loop a main section where the distortion is noticeable, sidechain the bass to the vocals, and let Soothe push down the conflicting frequencies-typically between 90Hz to 200Hz. Alternatively, use Pro-Q, setting a dynamic EQ to cut when the sound exceeds the threshold. This way, you can preserve the sonic qualities of both elements.
This 808 question is insane. What does the person asking mean it distorts the vocal? That means it distorts the entire track. Which means turn everything down, or aka dont clip, or aka do good healthy gain structure.
i think you are wrong. He is refering when you have a 808 and is messing up with the higher frecuencies (maybe from harmonics), so starts to distort the vocals. This doesnt fix it with just a filter. Thats why the questions its actually good, because they explain how to solve this.
tbh i just wish the questions would be better. What a missed oportunity. Asking greats like Serban, Manny and Guru a question like this is just..idk..you would get the same answer asking Gpt because this is mixing 101.

I think it’s just talking about how low end pushes your mix bus BIG time if you don’t keep an eye on it and clean it up. An absolute mix killer
Where the hell is this from?😂
