That's dismantle, Every ranged slashes he do are Dismantle. He needs to touch his target to use Cleave. The only time his Cleave is used without him touching his target is during Malevolent Shrine.

As with a pipeline in animation, it is common to overestimate what you can output which under these circumstances, you end up taking things back a few steps to what's realistically possible in that amount of time keeping some of that oompth while not destroying the production, hence pulling back.

For context,these are not deleted scenes from the actual fights ,but blue ray added these animations as per some request that fans made that they wanted their fight to be longer
i like how this fight was 19 pages in the manga and each page had about 2 or 3 panels but they needed to flex the animation for the anime and made it 30 minutes long + several deleted scenes

Not all these,cuts were in the original production but had to be “deleted” from the airing Anime to fit deadlines there’s videos of these shots drawn in mappa months ago

Had to watch it at 0.25 speed just to appreciate it fully. Like at normal pace, i would have never saw that Sukuna cut off one of Ragas arms during their first few blows

It's cool to actually portray Mahoraga's ability to see sukuna's technique through martial art choreography. It's like they're having an exchange of strikes, parry, and you can see feints from Sukuna when he casts dismantle.
