- This 2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer) has a 3.7 liter V6 engine. This same engine was used in the Interceptor sedan, Mustangs, and other models. Changing the oil is very easy, and I show how to do it step by step.

- 15mm wrench or socket and ratchet
- (optional) small impact wrench
- (optional) oil filter wrench: amzn.to/3MW74ey
Parts you will need:
Motorcraft FL-500S Oil Filter: amzn.to/3NouUB1

Oh man, seeing that impact on the drain plug, I was praying you checked it was in reverse first! 😂 Made that mistake before! Luckily I didn't ruin the pan, the plug had a gasket that got WAY over compressed. Easy fix.
I know, I always use the smallest impact I can find and just feather the trigger. Never tighten a plug with an impact for sure!
Thanks for this helpful video, Reid! I look forward to more videos about your Ford Police Interceptor Utility! Perhaps the removal of the flood light or other interior quirks.
Thanks for commenting! I’ll be posting some videos of work on the interior.
Great Vid Reid please keep them coming
Thank you! Glad it helped you.
Excellent video, but PLEASE USE gloves! Used motor oil is carcinogenic, especially if you have a cut, scrape or other open wound. Use latex gloves which do not hinder your use of your fingers and hand, but will protect you from the used oil. Excellent , very helpful videos. Thanks for sharing. I wish you the best!
Thank you, Kenny, for caring. I’m bad about wearing gloves while recording videos because it makes it hard to work the AV equipment. I might have my priorities out of order there!
Generally, I go with orange Astro-Grip nitrile gloves by SAS. They are the toughest I’ve found!
This is very overlooked advice. Family has worked on a LOT of tractors bare handed... Fortunately no hand cancers, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Northern vehicle ? Awfully rusty under there. P. S. wear gloves.
Absolutely a northern rust belt vehicle. It’s actually less rusty than I’m used to though. Haha
