3:19 This sounds like something out of Seinfeld. George: "They told me I don't have it, Jerry. Told me I've got no pop." Jerry: "No pop?" George: "No pop!"
I feel like we just watched how a writers room for a skit comedy show works. Someone drops some random fun idea, next person picks it up and adds to it, next person might add a bit of a dud but that sets up the next person to alley oop the dud into a slam dunk. This was a great time and a really interesting thing to watch. I could watch these people interact like this forever.
I don't watch much TV so I don't see her shows, but she is an absolute delight. I Didn't know Diana Ross was her mother. I hope she gets the great roles she deserves. She's very entertaining to listen to.
She is so cool. I was having a bad day and looked for something funny on TV. I thought black-ish....and it took a bit, but I found it. Yay me. And love it.
I remember her from Girlfriends obviously but I finally noticed her all of her on Lyricist Lounge and I was hooked then. I dabbled with Reed between the lines but Black-ish felt like a natural evolution for her. I wasn't trying to follow her but I didn't miss anything of hers and I'm glad I didn't, one of the most underrated performers ever and I say that not knowing about her mom being Diana Ross until Black-ish, I was just enjoying her organically 😊
Regarding the Biden as tech savvy genius bit at the end. way back in the 80s on SNL Phil Hartman did a hilarious sketch where he played Reagan just like that. Guests would come into the oval office and Reagan would pretend to be an out of it dementia addled loveable old grandpa with the jelly beans etc. But then when they left he would immediately turn into a scheming Machiavellian badass.
Love Tracee and her different comedy characters, she is a natural born star that the camera absolutely loves. And her giggle is so terrific. Love how Conan and the gang are just laughing throughout this entire podcast episode. How wrong her past agent was, 💯 stupidity. Does she ever pop, hahaha. Love her first pop culture defining 2000’s all female sitcom Girlfriends. 😂🤣😆❤👑⚜️🏆💎🎧🎙️
I love Tracee. She is smart and funny. Girlfriends was a show that everyone could relate to whether black, white or however you identify. I loved Girlfriends It was a fantastic show..
Girlfriends was the best!!❤❤ What in the hell?!?! I don't know one person in my generation that didn't watch it. Just ludacris she didn't get her props for it. 😤
Thank you for this video. Tracee always remember nothing is guaranteed. Its doesn't matter weather your family member is famous, it's about you. Sometimes people really do you a favor without you are them knowing it. The system will chew you up and spit you out. Also remember you do have a gift. You gift will lead you to better things. Please do not look back. As we get older time and changes move on. Are you really happy on this video? Maybe yes or no. Let your talent lead you to better opportunities. Love always, Patricia ❤😊
I love Tracee. When I was young, and she a little younger than me, I'd see her with her mom, maybe twice, and think WOW SHES SOOOOO COOL. I've heard stories like hers about agents and "studios" that were just blatantly being nasty. It goes to their heads. They get paid by client and if they can't find anything, they will not take the blame- they insult. Yet, that goes down the ladder and also when you're on your way up. No matter what line of work. There are those in those kind of jobs that shouldn't be there. I can think of teachers who were just mean. Do they apply for those jobs because they're jerks or keep them because they're jerks? It is this way with anyone's first job....for say waitress. Any experience, no. So too bad. You need a job, but myst be experienced and can't get experience without the job. College isn't necessarily going to work. People that hold people's livelihood are just nasty. And...I'll cut some a break and sau, maybe one or two are ok. Well, I have something in common with Tracee Ellis Ross. Sort of.
To whoever programs those awful bots in the comments: do something else. Try gardening. Programming bots is not your thing. You're horrible at it. Really, reassess your career decisions.
I remember this story that really hurts she's got better representation now & i say today she's a massive success very proud of what she's doing beautiful, fun, funny & very talented. ❤
Good show. Is it possible that Ross's persona, at least in that moment, didn't "pop"? Critical statements can be life-altering, no matter the potential of the individual.
Hey Coney, did you write any of my favorite Sniglets? Those ice chunks that build up behind your tires and then fall off is called a Slurd. I also still remember the door mat opening shoes. This guy goes to move the mat that opens the door, and he walks on it in front of a vending machine, and realizes its the mat that opens doors. So he makes a pair of shoes and walks to the bank, hijinks ensue! waka waka! I think it won some small award that year. What a long strange career, I have never had a job longer than a few months
If you’ll agree with me, some persons see this as a good news while some don’t but the question is, how’s your finances doing? Can you go on that long vacation without complaining about your pocket? Do your kids have the luxury and latest gadgets?
I started investing in the stock market because of dividends. What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and earn more money in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. It implies that you can pass that on to your children, giving them a head start in life. I've invested over $600k in dividend stocks over the years; I continue to buy more today and will continue to do so until the price lowers even further.
It's always inspiring to hear from a veteran investor who has weathered the storm and come out on top. When your portfolio turns from green to red, it might be unsettling, but if you have invested in great companies, you should just keep adding to them and stick with your plan.
I wholeheartedly concur, which is why I appreciate giving an investment coach the power of decision-making. Given their specialized expertise and education, as well as the fact that each and every one of their skills is centered on harnessing risk for its asymmetrical potential and controlling it as a buffer against certain unfavorable developments, it is practically impossible for them to underperform. I have made over 1.5 million dollars working with an investment coach for more than two years
Maybe it's just me, but I find it a bit iffy for her to talk about the privilege of others when her parents are huge names in show business who contributed greatly to her entry into show biz.
When did she talk about “privilege of others”. Even with her parents name, she was paid dust and not given scripts. And her being successful on a Black show meant nothing to industry folks
@@imalwaysrightwhich is really fucked when you consider that white nepo babies like Amy Schumer just get opportunities thrown at them despite having no talent. So basically, you can struggle being talented and black in the industry DESPITE being a nepo baby
@@imalwaysright she spoke about Conan’s privilege, which is something you might’ve missed. I’m not sure you know this, but many people have spent their entire lives trying to get a serious acting gig, but only a small minority do. I don’t know where you got the part where she was “paid dust” as well, because it doesn’t take much effort to look up her biography to see that that isn’t true. If you think that’s “dust”, then I shudder to think what you consider to be minimum to average wage.
That's kinda her point. Even with a hit show and all the check boxes she still couldn't get work, still wasn't "in" enough for the Tonight Show, etc. Imagine how much harder it is for someone with none of that.
Gotta love when people constantly blame failing on the color of their skin. Everyone of every color fails even Conan has failed over and over again. And if he was black would he be able to just say it’s because I’m black? No that would be ridiculous.
Maybe you didn't get anything about the conversation. The industry is incredibly fickle and difficult to navigate, with gatekeeping at every level. And in her specific case, being on a successful black show on a black network wasn't enough to get her on the Tonight Show. She never said she was a failure. She said certain doors were closed to her DESPITE HER SUCCESS. Were YOU aware of her work before seeing this video?
Tracee and Conan have the same energy. It's hilarious watching them together
Yeah. If that woman doesn't pop, I don't know who does, I swear. If anything, Tracee is the living, breathing prime example for restless pop syndrom💯
I can't believe they missed the opportunity for Tracee's french accent to meet Sona's french accent
The way Conan said so seriously "but now I'm old," broke my heart a little bit.
3:19 This sounds like something out of Seinfeld.

I loved this clip. All for of you made the other 3 crack up. Not to mention I absolutely adore both Sona and Tracee’s laughs.

Damn! Tracee is great!! She fits in with the three chums perfectly. I could watch these four all day.
She is so cool. I was having a bad day and looked for something funny on TV. I thought black-ish....and it took a bit, but I found it. Yay me. And love it.
Amazing how we as African Americans watch every type of programming regardless of culture, but that's not so with alot of other culture's.
And alot of people white shows I didn't get. They could get away with low talent and we give it all and no one cares
Yep
Totally agree
Anytime I have seen her in a show, she is the most memorable one. ❤ Love TEAM COCO!

My goodness this is my first time watching this show and boy the laughter is contagious. What a great episode.
Conan when Harrison Ford noticed he had a card with "Hans Solo" written on it: "Yeah, but I don't really feel you "popped" in that role."
Oof, listening to them talking about the first job paradox.
Thank you, Tracee and the gang! I didn't know how much I needed that belly laugh out loud. 🤣🥰

I'd sooo love to see Dana Carvey do that Biden / Oculus Rift bit..., like, "Come on, guys. Oculus rift... Come, on - bear with me..." LOL😂
"Goodbye, little girl..."
"BACK TO WORK!!!"
😆 I remember that sketch! It was so brilliantly done by Phil Hartman. So many comedic moments missed over the years from his tragic passing.
