DC DESIGNS TOMCAT coming SOON!! Could this be the FIRST aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator to simulate a flat spin? Let's see in this short preview video...
I like the tomcat model made by heatblur for DCS much better. This one seems... Oh what's the word I'm looking for? Arcadish? Like something you might find in Ace Combat?
This rendition is absolutely NOT ''Arcadish" in the slightest, nor is it 'study level'. It's extremely well modelled and fans of the Tomcat will love it.
@@VRFlightSimGuy it is arcadish, I just checked out "into the blue simulations" video on the f14 and the start up sequence is a joke (simply the fact that you need to push the emergency fuel cutoff valves to start the engines shows how much this module is far from any kind of fidelity). Same with other things such as the HUD, vdi and navigation screens that are totally wrong. All in all there are so many things that could easily be made thruthful to the real f14 but it seems they either did zero research, either went with a full fantasy/arcade approach to modeling this "f14" with very little fidelity to the real airplane.
I can only talk about the F14 in DCS, but yes, you're right about the flat-spin in VR. It's frightening. Especially as a RIO in the backseat, where you're just a passenger at that point :D
1:34 Goose: *It's coupling up, Mav!! We're out of control, this is not good!! THIS IS NOT GOOD!!!* Iceman: *Mayday, mayday! Mav's in trouble. He's in a flat spin, heading out to sea!*
Great fun! Looking forward to your review. Counting the days, minutes, seconds till the 19th. Definitely won't be able to wait for it to hit the Marketplace!
Steve, just flew the TBM from Wick in the north to Lee on Solent in south. This long trans- UK flight was mostly at 1000 feet. Lovely British scenery and the local weather was pleasant. No wonder you love scooting around the countryside 😁👍
Perfect! Your comment is very timely! I've just posted a shot on my community tab after a stunning flight over to Newcastle. I'll never ever get bored of flying over the UK :) Take care!
@@davidd6883 I've managed to save the one in DCS too... Just. It reminded me a lot of that experience actually which is a massive achievement by DC Designs.
I love the F15s, and this looks VERY promising. Unfortunately it suffers the same lack of yaw inertia as the F15s. I really wish this could be addressed!
@@ruggerorandisi7785 PC Only from the Just Flight website. When the plane goes to Microsoft they do what's needed to get it on the marketplace and it'll be Xbox compatible. It'll be a few weeks after release I'd say.
You should use left rudder if the aircraft is spinning to the right, might help next time to recover earlier. Also you want to gain speed, so perhaps close the air brake?
Wowzers, that is absolute amazing 👍👍👍these compression engine out sounds are superb. I really love those planes to do longer legs in msfs. The F-14 looks incredible. Thank you very much forvthe video. And of course my CC not only hates you, no DC Designs is as JustFlight on the black list too 🤣🤣🤣 Take care buddy. Well done👍
Hey buddy cheers, they've done a stellar job of this one, making the most of what MSFS can do right now. It's a real treat having such a legendary bird to fly in such an amazing environment. Once again, send my regards to your poor wallet lol
Already several years ago i was able to develope a flatspin in the beautifull Aerosoft F14 in FSX. In the attached docs was a statement of an American test pilot telling the best way of handling a F14 flatspin is to bring the wings all the way back, and so i tried it. I recorded it and you can watch it on youtube if you like 😉
this is spin but not flat, flat spin just arrived with today version of flyingiron spitfire ix. i could make left one twice, but right is autorecovering before go flat, that was so unexpectable first time, i was sure there no spins like usual so don't give enough high, second on i recover exactly at sea level(:almost:)
I don't think they ever fixed the F-15 yet. When you throttle up or down, the left engine throttles up or down twice as fast as the right, almost unplayable right now with that. If they don't fix that before releasing the tomcat, then that says a lot and I'll call it out.
I knew I'd get a comment like that, you can't get it perfect everytime... Off camera I managed to get it totally horizontal, in fact, notice at one point it was whilst in the cockpit. I'd probably had to do this a hundred times to get it perfect... This is a demo of what is now possible in MSFS
Incorrect. Spins are most often nose-low in a cork-screw fashion, and can often have considerable pitch and roll movements as well. The flat spin of the movies is the last stage of a well-developed spin, and it's generally time to leave if it gets that far as control authority is almost entirely lost. The F-14 crews developed the "Hoser" method, named after the pilot who thought of it, of sweeping the wings back when in a deep spin, as the slight centre of gravity change would unbalance the spin and give the crews back some chance of recovery.

Absolutely gobsmacked at that spin, then your recovery! Well done, thanks for the preview.
Thanks Peter much appreciated

Stop being a tool, we know the difference, i also have the F-14 in DCS, amongst many others. The MSFS F-14 is not meant to be SL..jesus.
@@davewills6121 if the DCS F14 is not study level what add-on in the history of flight simulation is.

2:30 why do i hear the radar altimeter beeping?
How did you exactly start the flat spin? Other YT people tried but failed. You nailed it. You got good pilots skills
Thanks Sven. Maybe I'll make a tutorial.
Those engines take FOREVER to fire up when you are dropping angels fast, huh? LOL!!! Nice save though, very proud of you!!!!
Thanks Drew, I'm sooo glad I decided to start this manoeuvre at angels 20, I started to get really worried at one point! This cat can certainly bite.
That "save" is a lot harder to pull off in DCS

Why do the engines stall out?

and are “PC only” DLCs like DC Design F15 also playable on Xbox?
if so, what that “only on PC” means?
thx a lot
It means not available yet on XBox. Microsoft store has the F15s for XBox in the approval queue according to Dean (and I'm waiting for them on XBox 🙂)
@@ColinDyckes oh i see
so it means all PC only aircrafts will come to Xbox some day?
or just some of them?

Thanks for the tip but I was already doing just that and it took this long to get out of it. Remember flat spins are more deadly.
@@VRFlightSimGuy Well, the rudder is pointing the wrong direction in your video anyway :)
@@GoosebumpRacing Maybe a bit of panic set in to begin with ;)
@@VRFlightSimGuy that’s a not a very good reflex. That’s even more deadly then the spin itself 😉

When will this come out for Xbox
Announcement made by DC Designs today!
Gooooooooose!
Good job. Please rework the cockpit. Looks like a fantasy... add wing flex. I play f14 in dcs its more real, for me.
That was a spin. It wasn't a flat spin though. In a flat spin, the fuselage will be nearly horizontal.

Ok. Who wants to be Goose?

What a crappy arcadish Tomcat
But can you rain down 6 phoenix missiles, then tear the wings off at 10g while your Rio shit his pants? I think not. Good day sir.
