“Well, I guess we should all give Tyr… a hand.”
-someone
I am sure that was said by... a handful of people.
@@user-fd5nz5lo7m ayo!
alright alright, enough with the puns. They're getting out of hand.
This comment section sure is a handful
I got to hand it to you all you sure made me laugh.
David woke up and chose violence 😂
So Tyr in D&D is just Týr in Norse Mythology, with the eye thing of Odin. Got it!
Well Odin only lost the one eye, but sure.
Quite literally. He's actually supposed to be Týr post-Ragnorok.
not quite. there’s definitely some similarities, but in norse mythology Tyr lost his hand while *chaining* Fenrir, not while fighting it. he’s also the god of war, and doesn’t have a lot to do with justice, as far as i remember.
@@evilmiera I mentioned that Odin lost the eye.
@@esobelisk3110 Yes, Forseti is the god of justice in Norse mythology.
you should make an hour long comp of these dnd shorts because its criminal i cant fall asleep to that buttery voice
I have hours of livestreams if that helps
@@SteelySam it... slightly helps
He has playlists on the channel. Just play those🎉
@@JPIQQG lol how did i forget that
@@SteelySam Even though I've watched all your D&D Shorts, I like to throw the playlist on shuffle and just listen. I could listen to you talk about D&D for hours
He was resurrected because he's a real-world god (or, in Realms terms, an interloper god). He has aspects that exist outside of Ao's purview, and can reform his Realms aspect from that source. Ao could prevent him from interacting with Realmsspace, but chose not to do so. Gods in the Realms can be reborn from other gods or aspects of themselves as well (Mystryl/Mystra/Midnight/Mystra, Aumanator/Lathander/Aumanator, or Tyche --> Tymora/Beshaba being examples). The only way to completely kill a god is to eliminate its worship, veneration, and optimally its memory from the world. Gods are formed from and fed by ideas and beliefs. So long as they are worshipped, they will eventually reform from any "death" some version of them may suffer.
I'm more inclined to believe he was resurrected because people continued to practice faith in him, even during his death.
His faith was and still is popular in the forgotten realms. He's part of the triad of gods along with Torm and Ilmater, and his portfolio was left to Bahamut in his absence.
Not to mention Torm himself was his champion when he was mortal and still remains so even as a God.
A following like Tyr's is hard to stamp out after all
I actually played an order turned war cleric who was in the service of Tyr, he came through with a Divine Intervention.
Beware, my cleric follows Tyr. Oh, Tyr, he comin!!
I wanna apologize again for my lack of patience and for what I said, it was out of line and completely unwarranted and you must get a lot of requests.
Once again my apologies.
So if I may make a request, since you've now done its 3 individual members.
Could you expand on the Whole Triad?
(Tyr, Torm & Ilmater)
all good bud
@@SteelySam Hand-led that in the best way. :)
@Kevan Grenda get out 😂😂
Makes me think of the line justice is blind....
Best cleric patron ever.
I had a war Cleric of Tyr. One of my favorite. Characters I ever made
I just made a character who worships Tyr so there could have been any better timing for this.
....he's just normal Tyr..
The wolf is Fenrir In the legend, his symbol is a hand, he's considered a god of protection...
This is awesome
Could you do Kas the bloody handed?
I would love to see a video about ao, i've always been fascinated by them and was always curious if it was possible to have a cleric dedicated to them.
Must be hard to do everything from his left hand...
Could you do the races of Humblewood next?
Tyr being good buddies with Helm is such an awesome thing
Same with Tyr's relationship with Ilmater and Torm
Tuesday, aka Tirsdag in Danish or Týsdagr in old norse, is literally Tyr's day :D
So *this* is the deity that created the famed lawful/stupid alignment. I'll be sure to write him a thank you letter 😂
This clip has some "Just" God "Tyr" art in it.
“Bull”
That’s what we Danes would say about that!
That handless shield mount is cool
Can we finally get Thibbledorf Pwent?
Damn David chill XD
Can’t believe he lost his eyesight after back talking god-daddy
David definitely woke up and chose violence
I'm still asking for solar dragon
This is actually really close to the actual Tyr legends
Since we are talking about gods can you please do Kossuth one of these days?
I played a Paladin of Tyr for years in 3.5, one of my best characters ever.
same
I took the Justicar prestige class. Corwin St Germain the Rightous Justicar of Tyr the Even Handed. He was a little wordy at times, but God's he was a blast to play.
Got a party member who's playing as Modi, son of thor. He comes from another parallel realm to ours where Ragnarok allready happened. He was sent to our world to locate the last remaining fragments of Tyr's power.
I will continue asking for Tenser and I won’t stop until you talk about him!
Been asking for a Fharlanghn break down for well, not a year but a couple months now. Please!
Worth the wait
I like how this is basically a rebranding of Tyr from Norse mythology, a warrior god who lost his hand to Fenrir when the Aesir were trying to find a way to lock Fenrir up to prevent him from eating the sun and the moon at Ragnarok. Tyr and Fenrir were buddies and Fenrir would only let the Aesir keep “playing” with different chains and ropes to tie him down if someone put his or her hand in his jaws. If they betrayed him he would eat that hand. Tyr did and lost his hand when the truth was revealed about trying to lock up the dangerous creature.
You can see the inspiration from norse mythology tyr
Thinking of a zealot, a fanatic who chops their hand off in dedication to tyr now
Dragon Turtles please
I wonder how badly David is regretting his sass 🤔
Somehow Tyr returned
Please do Claw Dragon(Grey Dragon)
Have you done Eilistraee or Ilmater? Those are the two FR deities I've paladined for. (3.5e i think)
gunna keep asking for Spellfire
That third image has a pixel count in the dozens
Has he ever done IO? The dragon God? Please do IO.
I get it, their judgement is as blind as their God
Bodak! Can you do Bodaks? They are super creepy monsters with some nasty abilities
here you go: ua-cam.com/users/shortshLqSqmxWj24
Day 144 asking for Armanites
one of the players in my campaign is actually a paladin of Tyr so it’s cool to see you cover him
Please do "Radiant Idol"
Ty for this
Shinning citadel
This guy sounds alot like the norse god of war with the same name
Damn David
Justice is blind not heartless. -someone
Love how they just retrofit our gods for dnd
First time asking if I recall, do Duskblades of 3.5E from the player’s handbook 2
I will continue asking Aballas
Skulks next? 👉👈
Can you do Brain in a Jar? My favorite undead
Can you do a short on the Hammer of Tyr? It’s been neglected in the lore since the 90s
Day 174: asking what is Cthulu`s deal in DnD sourcebooks?
Can you do Grog?
Please do Gruumsh!
Fun Fact, in the real world Tyr is a Norse God of war. The Saxon spelling of his name - Tiw - is the origin of the word Tuesday (literally "Tiw's Day").
A God can't get his hands.... hand on a regenerate spell?
Blind justice
you hadnt mentioned Hoar and their battle
Could you do a video on The Red Knight? There are so few videos of her
Good afternoon Sam hope your doing good I suggest doing the many offical wizard of the coast worlds as it's day 140 asking for the world of darksun or also know as Athas
If you wanna do estaris, could you please do the great beast?
Just like the Norse mythology of Tyr
Could you do a video on fiendish contracts?
Oooh i think this is day 7 asking for the hamadryad.
By tempus' beard!
Can you do Fizban? Day 170
My current campaigns bbeg's are the church of this guy so this is pretty cool
Have you done Venger yet?
In the Norse mythology, Tyr lost his hand to Fenrir, son of Loki, after he made a bet that he could put it in the wolf's mouth
It wasn't a bet.
After repeated attempts to bind the wolf framed as "games," Fenrir grew suspicious. So when Odin came around with his latest attempt, Fenrir demanded that one of the Gods put his hand in his jaws. If it was a trick, he'd bite it off.
Tyr was not in on Odin's deception and agreed in good faith. When Fenrir was proved right, he regretfully took the hand of the only Asier that treated him well.
Odin lost the faith of his own lawgiver that day, and Tyr as the dutiful judge would forever look over Odin's actions with much deeper scrutiny from that day on.
How’s his right arm jacked
What does he do lift weights 😂
Got a rare one for you. Lastai (lesser diety) Just make sure you cover the wholesome side too, so it's not just a bard fantasy. Lol
I have asked for dentists so many times now
Why is it that I'm noticing all fantasy games and settings that made it are just DND rehashed and in a different art style 😂
Still hoping for The Red Knight
Vecna’s Hand, but make it good 🤔😈
Can you please do torm next?
Can you please do Runesmith.
Can you please do dusk hags
Can you do the silent rain mercenary company?
Chill David damn you aren’t you when you’re hungry
Can you do d as Silverbrow humans? I lost count on how long I’ve been asking.
Can you please do Acheron?
Can you please do Fang Dragon?
Who is Maximilian? (Maximilian’s Earthen Grasp)
Tyr sounds more Chaotic Good to be honest
He's actually the only greater deity in the Faerūnian Pantheon that's truly Lawful Good, his entire point is Justice and Justice above everything, every crime must be punished, every lie must be redeemed and every unlawful death averaged
Ilmater and Torm serve Tyr for a good reason
Also he isn't besties with Helm for nothing
Been asking a long time for wemic
can You please do the Tressym? Thank You.
Can you do an Orthon
*Worships Tyr*: "Was hitler...?"
Day who tf knows asking for homunculus servant
