Looks like they're performing some aggressive agile sprints. Never saw a company put out so many firmware updates in such a short period of time. Luckily it's not enterprise grade software cause that would not be good for an organisation. But for hobbyists i think it's pretty cool.
Hi Steve, Think the channel is great, very helpful. I've just received my x6100 on 02/02/2022 and just checked the system and I have an update jan 2. When I update the firmware should I update one at a time or just do the latest?? TIA Hugh
Hi Steve ,great videos you helped me make up my mind to buy one, i also have a G90 I seem to have some issues with my new x6100, i am getting a lot of birdies with the antenna unpluged s5 signal on 20m with the preamp on s7 at 14.182, s7 at 14.083, s10 at 13.999.8mhz s4-5 on all bands with nothing plugged in to the antenna ,do you get this with your x6100, also can you test your tx audio on FM 6METERS and on 6m the power is only 5-7w into a dummy load, with the radio set to 10w my fm modulation is very distorted ,also no am modulation well 12% in to marconi 2955 test set(alot have the am mod problem on the forum, Thanks Dave 2E0DMB
I don't have any noise at all with the antenna unplugged. Here is my video on power output: ua-cam.com/video/J0NzZxxDrZE/v-deo.html I need to re-watch that and see if I can do it again capturing more useful info.
@@temporarilyoffline Ok thanks Steve, your videos are great All very helpful ,I have just watched that video and you are lower on 6m, On 14.070 I am getting very bad self gen Are you getting any birdies ? At all Thanks Dave It looks like I maybe sending it back, I will call them tomorrow Thanks for all of your help Thanks Dave
After a frustrating attempt to use both WINLINK and FT8 on the X6100 without success, I went to operate my IC 705 using wireless, and all digital modes to remember what right looks like.
@@temporarilyoffline I just got my X6100 and I have not as yet got the latest (weekly?) update, so I am going to reserve judgement. I have a G90 as well and I have not had the issues in digital connectivity as I have had with the X6100. Hopefully, most these issue will be corrected with the current update. I just did not know I was going to be a beta tester. This SDR should have been tested with all the common digital modes popular with Hams, such as Winlink, FT8, JS8, ect... They should stick with a common emulation like an ICOM 7100 or something similar. Many programs have not developed specific models related to Xiegu radios, so you are going to have to generally do a workaround of some sort. My G90, for example was perfectly happy operating as an IC 7100 in WINLINK and other programs like HRD, ect.. I was just a little disappointed in the lack of software development with this radio. I think it has potential and maybe in a few months it will be sorted out. I do like the open source potential and maybe we will be able to use third party LINUX programs that are completed customized and have yet to be determined features. Just my two cents.
Hi Steve, i am getting an exchange radio sent out to me on Monday, i hope the new one is not as bad, Have you got any birdies on any bands, i do expect 1 or 2 but not as bad as the radio i have, Thanks Dave 2E0DMB
I've noticed on some firmwares that its not "clean" - there are static signals to the left and right on the waterfall that don't ever move. Then I either reboot or re-flash and they are gone again. HRD has seen them too. Other than that, I must have got a good one! Check in on the discord and see if anybody else has heard of it.
@@temporarilyoffline yes I will do, I will let you know how the new radio is on Monday, Also I did try firmware 5 and the swr meter only works on very high swr Thanks Dave

Steve atlest they are trying lol , even though it wasn't much upgrade.
Every two weeks!
Thanks for the update!
Anytime my friend!
It's a TO morning. Just watched WSJT-Z and then this popped up. The word you were looking for was "more substantial" TFBA
I was like what is TFBA? Then I got it! I like it!

Yeah, the over/under is that its good and bad for business. I like it, others... not so much
Thanks again for these updates
Thanks for watching Joe!

Just do the latest firmware and you'll be fine, thanks for watching!

They must be pushing out updates to let everyone know they are working on all known issues to keep people interested. :)
It's working
I am cautiously optimistic. They need to make the digital and WIFI/Bluetooth connectivity a little easier.

@@TXLorenzo nice! My 705 isn't the happiest with wireless (or wired) digital. The X6100 does great wired in. Funny how that works out.

I’m sticking to external power until the x6100 is fully sorted out.
Good idea. I also don't leave mine plugged in when I'm not home

Firmware du jour! I am a slacker, still on firmware rev 2.
You're not missing anything
Something more explosive, other than the x6100 batteries :P
Have there been issues with exploding batteries?
Is there such a thing?
@@temporarilyoffline Maybe a nuke? :P

That's it! 😉
Hopefully those won't set radio's on fire anymore
