  • Lincoln ls engine knock/rattle i need help or advice on what it could be or the best way to go about fixing this problem thanks

    Replaced timing chain or secondary chain tensioner. These go bad in all lincoln ls and jaguars. Cam has probably skipped a tooth on the timing chain because of it. Thats why its knocking. That's what happened to mine.

    Secondary timing chain tensioner under valve covers broken one on each bank

    Yep... Expensive, and need a lift to pull engine, took about 8 hrs after I figured out what i needed to do, 800 or so in parts.. Have fun..

      Shuckz is this is true where did you find the rod bearing because they are discontinued.

    It's always the driver side timing tensioner.

    So I changed the timing chain tensioner or secondary tensioner and the noise is still there. Any Ideas?

      That and a worn connecting rod bearing seem to be the common issues. When the rod bearing is worn and needs replacement, it typically will cause that noise when accelerating, if it's doing that while idling it would be timing chain tension, however as far as I know, it's possible either one could happen idling or accelerating, but rod bearing would be my guess from what I've researched and others' knowledge.

    Thats not a timing chain. thats rod bearing..
